Does anyone hear the similarity between 'Atonement' from the new Opeth album, and the 'Searching For The New Sound' song from the Priest And The Beast episode of Mighty Boosh? Its quite strange but cool to think they were both probably making their respective songs around the same time, but they sound so similair.

I haven't heard this "Searching for the New Sound", but you've got me curious now. I don't watch the Mighty Boosh, so is there anywhere online where I can hear this? I'm listening to Atonement at the moment, not the best song on Ghost Reveries, but still brilliant. It's quite similar to some of the stuff they did on Damnation, a couple of years ago, maybe the people who did this Mighty Boosh song were inspired by it, or something. Personally I prefer Opeth's songs that change mood mid song, like Ghost of Perdition or Baying of the Hounds.

I haven't heard Atonement, only 'The New Sound' in the Boosh.

If you scroll down and click to watch the video clip, its that song. Obviously it has singing unlike the Opeth track, but the music reminds me of it.

Bugger, I've been thwarted. It's in realplayer format, which I don't have. And I hate realplayer so I'm not installing it.
