Well it's one of my favourite songs ever so you can't go wrong. Best series ending since Blake's 7.

If we're doing tv...
From my favourite episode The Sopranos - Tiny Tears

Slightly spoilerific if you haven't seen series 1.
Zoe
The final scenes of Six Feet Under (Breathe Me - Sia), I can't watch without crying.

The final scene of 'The Sopranos' (Don't stop Believing - Journey).

Major spoilers in the above.

Wow, haven't seen that since it was first aired, brilliant. Sopranos always had top notch accompanying music.

I've yet to see Sopranos beyond first series
Zoe
It's not a comparative thing.

I found it depressing and a bit stupid; but then I was pretty much at the end of my tether with Sam by the end of series 2.

As soon as I saw what that was, I had to close the window - I can't cry at work!

And yes.

Also from Life on Mars - Decision/Indecision by Atomic Rooster when Sam is in the pub deciding what to do in the last episode. I can't find it on YouTube, but it's the perfect song with the perfect title.

Is that because the illogical human emotions it produces will cause your steely android heart to explode?
Starscream`s Ghost
Oh dear. I have no soul, it would seem.

Stop making me cry at work!

I doubt this one's been mentioned, but it's always struck me as a gloriously out of place, yet perfect, piece of music. I Can't Stop Loving You performed by Ray Charles, during the finale of Metropolis as the ziggurat explodes and crashes to the ground. The whole jazz soundtrack is great, but this, combined with a complete lack of sound effects and the preceding few minutes of action, is very emotive.
Jimmay
On the Life on Mars theme that seems to be running through the thread, the scene in the Life Aquatic where Seu Jorge is playing it and you can barely hear it in the background and it kicks in to the Bowie version as Zissou walks down the boat.

In fact, the more I think about that film the more I realise how much the soundtrack adds to it.
Drifter
Buffy - Full Of Grace/Wild Horses/and so many others. I do like the instrumentals from Buffy including those taken from the episodes Hush, The Gift and Restless

West Wing - Brothers In Arms

Is Hush the one where no-one can talk? That is a terrifying (and brilliant) piece of TV that is.

I'm also going to put forward the use of the theme song from St. Elmo's Fire in the same movie, not because it's ingenius or clever, simply because it's as fine an 80s power ballad as any I'v ever come across or heard.

I can see St. Elmo's Fire buuuuuuuuuuuuuuurnin' in the niiiiiiiight
NiteFall
I always thought that the bit in Scream where the camera tracks through the deserted town to Red Right Hand by Nick Cave was good as well.
Jessopjessopjessop
One of the first instances of outstanding music choice I experienced was on TV during Homicide: Life On The Street, when The Pretenders' 'Stand By You' accompanied Pembleton's near-fatal stroke scene at the end of series two or three. I was stunned.

This has just reminded me of the ending of Leela's Homeworld, which I think doesn't get the recognition it deserves as one of Futurama's more emotional moments.

I just wish it wasn't in rubbish slideshow form.
Zoe
I have a couple of fine romantic examples.

It had to be you.

The perfect combination of song and sentiment.

I can't find a clip, but I adore Cher's similar epiphany in 'Clueless' to the soundtrack of 'All by Myself'. The fountain coming on is classic.
Sir_Robin_the_brave
Johnny Cash's When the Man Comes Around over the top of the rather cool Dawn of the Dead (204) titles is a good example of a quirky musical choice that works incredibly well.
Zoe
Fantastic choice! That blew me away in the cinema.

The 'Down with the Sickness' montage is great too.

Kool Thing

tran anh hung's 'cyclo' - maybe it over-eggs the pudding a little, but the use of radiohead's 'creep' works pretty well. although, maybe it isn't as effective, if you don't know what has already happened and you don't see follows, which is pretty harrowing.

still, you get to see tony leung smoking, which is always a good thing...

The Richard Cheese bit? That's a great bit of comic relief, especially when Steve's hitting the golf balls at the zombies.

Love that film. I'd say DoTD is my favourite remake.

Is it on the "Greatest List" or has it been vetoed?

hmm, i'd probably have gone through a couple of sequences from 'in the mood for love' or 'ashes of time', before i'd arrived at 'chunking express'.

one of my favourite opening themes...

oh, and i was looking for the scene where the camera moves through the korova milk bar, but stumbled upon this - christ i wish i had audio at work...
