The other night I saw an advert for tiscali Unlimited Broadband and had the strangest feeling of deja vu. IT WAS PRACTICALLY THE SAME AS A BIG TRAIN SKETCH!!

On the sketch, Simon Pegg's doctor character is on the phone while a patient is dying, and is trying to get off the phone but the man at the other end doesn't let him put the phone down. Eventually the patient dies without the doctor.

On the advert, a doctor is distracted from an operation and is talking on the phone about broadband prices while a patient is giving birth to triplets. The doctor even does the awkward trying to get off the phone just like Simon Pegg act. Even the classic knock on window by Julia Davis is re-created and exactly the same. The patient eventually gives birth without the doctor.

Seem familiar?

Just this second seen this advert, was coming on here to rant in a new topic, only to discover it's already been posted about. It really pissed me off. Not like a subtle reference....OH NO, a TOTAL rip off. Lock -- Stock -- and both the barrels. Incredible. One of the guys from Los Dos Bros [surely one of the most underrated programs ever] is playing the Simon Pegg role. Not his fault, he needs to work...but FFS

Nowt new. Playstation nicked The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Sketch. I wonder if they have to pay royalties for 'sampling' these things?

I realise it's nothing new, just fuckin annoying. Wrangler pretty much ripped off the slow-mo shoot out from Spaced a while ago didn't they?

...and I can't imagine they have to pay royalties. Highly unlikely. Reminds me of a Stewart Lee rant from a while ago "lazy comedy slags" and the follow up: "Lazy Advertising Slugs"...Ah Stew!!!
