Does anybody know anything about the new Doom movie that isnt related to the first person sequence (unless it's really big flashy important news) and does any have any idea if the Cyberdemon (final boss for those who have never played) is gonna be rearing his ugly head.

You done good there my friend, you done good. Any news on the Cyberdemon?
(Hereby refered to as the CD.) Anything to do with Doom without the CD is not a true part of the Doom family.

Yes, but that is about videogame films in general this is more of a Doom fan thread mainly centered around the movie. Sorry if I offended anyone.

It's fine, you haven't offended me - but there is a bit of discussion about the Doom movie within that thread.
It's OK to create a new thread on the specific subject of 'Doom' (2005), I just thought there might be something to interest you there too.
The
IMDB entry seems fairly complete as far as information goes.

I'd imagine it's quite likely that the CD, or something similar anyway, will crop up somewhere in the film but the trailer I saw didn't show much of the actual film.

The trailer didn't show much of anything of anything apart from the 1st person sequence and the chainsaw end sequence. The teaser was almost a bitt too revealing in that (I apologize to anyone this is a spoiler for) the sequence with sarge in the dark the line "sir, are you alright?" and then another 4 pairs of eyes open as well as the first one. this could allude to fight with sarge from doom 3 just a little ways after you leave the hell realms. But yes nobody knows anything about the cd. it probably would be a fairly well kept secret in order to entice the fans to see the film just to be sure. but if it was in there surely at least one picture would have leaked, i mean star wars 3 was leaked towards the end and Kirsten dunst name dropped the next 2 spidey villains (venom and sandman) so they cant keep it that secret if it is in there.

i'm baffled by this development.

This better not turn out to be Resident Evil in space with some FPS sequences. Hell better play a part, one way or another.

Karl Urban or no, the movie's going to be absolute shit and you know it. Sure, the director's served as cinematographer for such classics as Speed, Terms of Endearment, and... uh... Lethal Weapon 4, but look at his prior directing credits! Romeo Must Die? Cradle 2 The Grave? Come on!
And translating video games to the cinema rarely, if ever, works. Given that Doom (the game) has even less of a story than Tomb Raider or Resident Evil (the games), which both significantly underwhelmed in their cinematic adaptations, can we expect anything but utter mediocrity?
And The Rock isn't exactly the picture of artistic depth. Ooo, look, one of his next films is John Woo's Spy Hunter, yet another shallow video game adaptation... What's next, Dolph Lundgren as Pac-man?

Could be worse.
Uwe Boll is directing the Halo movie, for instance.
Good thing being, the German financial loophole that keeps chucking money his way even though about 9 people actually pay to see his movies is going to be stopped soon. Thank fuck.

Yes, but Jackson (and Fran Walsh) will only be serving as Executive Producer. There has been no director assigned yet.
Anyone care to guess who it may be? My non-existent wager's on Michael Bay.

I would like to see that. Oh, and just in case people forget what this thread was truly about Doom has been pushed back from the 28th of this month to 2nd of december.
