I heard one of the tracks from the new LP on Zane Lowe's show over the weekend and I really think it's great. I think it was 'Old School' - I haven't heard any of MF Doom before but I think I shall have to investigate both this album and some of his previous work. Dangermouse is a good producer so I've now got high hopes for the rest of this LP. Anyone else heard it?

Yeah, i 'acquired' it a few days ago, its really good. All the various cartoon samples rule, especially the Brak ones. Its worth getting the whole thing if you heard one track and like it, the whole album is quality.

yeah, mf doom is the most exciting, interesting thing in rap at the moment. while 'fitty' and all his inbred cousins rap about guns and ho's while oiling up their pecs ( how gay is that bloke? ) doom is doing the old skool shit and doing it with style. compare the casual violence and misogeny of most modern hip hop with doom's rhymes about mad old cartoon characters. doom knows where hip hop has gone wrong, and as he says -

Only in America could you find a way / to make a healthy buck and still keep your attitude on self-destruct...

and he's been doing it for years too - check out mf doom's 'doomsday', plus the amazing 'madvillainy' by madvillain ( doom and madlib ). he also goes under the 'viktor vaughn the vaudeville villain' name, worth checking out too. and his 'king gheedora' project is shit hot too, all crazy rhymes and space age tunes.

check out this page for more detail about doom, and a great video for 'all caps', one of the tracks off 'madvillainy'.
