This is tacitly discussed in Spaced so I'm sure this has come up before, but how do people feel about Ewoks? I have to say that as they basically lay down their lives, nay risk the anhilation of their culture, in a desperate bid to help some people they've only just met, I can't help but like them.

For the very same reason as you said, they're a noble race of munchkins. smile.gif

I loved them as a child. Now I prefer... much, but no Ewoks. I wonder what they would like, if Lynch would have done the directing.

As a child, I had none of adult Tim Bisley's cynicism about the Ewoks, and loved them, especially Wicket. In fact, Return of the Jedi was the first of the original trilogy I saw, and I can't help but like all of it.

I think Tim actually likes Ewoks. When Brian sums up the end of the movie with that thing about "An entire empire brought low....." Tim says "My point exactly" implying he subscribes to a pro-ewok line. He never really criticises the ewoks directly, merely ceding to Bilbo (anti-ewok) in the heat of the moment to make the point that however bad one may consider ewoks to be they are way better than Jar Jar.

I'm off to wonder about whether he can drive or not.

I always took that to be a shot at Colin 'Tiny furry creatures', but I agree Tim doesn't really say much anti-ewok. smile.gif

This is a close one (at time of posting). I used to like them but they are blatantly a money-spinner. But then most of the Star Wars characters are a toy potential. So my argument is flawed. They are just annoying. Change the option to "Ewoks are annoying and no amount of fur is gonna make it better"

Have to side with the Ewoks Im afraid

When I was a tiny sprog I thought they were brill, so it would be a bit two faced of me to take issue with them now

Chunda! Chunda!

Jesus christ, you've got me talking Ewok as well now!

The reason for Ewoks is that Lucas was hoping to set the final battle on Chewies home planet Kashyyyk. However its easier to get a load of little uns than find a shit load of 7foot plus actors to fill a wookie suit, hence ewoks are wookies in reverse. I kind of like them. Aichiwawawa.

I think the Wookies in EPIII were just Ewoks on (too much) steroids.

But you have to realise his Jar Jar - Trauma. Binks makes the Ewoks look like fucking SHAFT!

But, of course you are right: You have to think about Simon writing, playing and singing the Ewok-song at the end of EPVI out of his memory. He must have loved those fuckers when he was a teen.

But Jar Jar is a league of his own.

I think it is a dig at Colin since the whole conversation revolves around how Ewoks destroyed the Empire, Tim looks at Colin and says 'My point exactly'' and Daisy says ''Oh leave him alone''. But that's (slightly) besides the point.

I loved the Ewoks as a child, (like Jessop) I saw Jedi first, at Christmas time I think when I was 9 I think, and I really did love them and always cheered when they would take down an AT-ST and even now I still find them really sweet and can't find it in my heart to hate them.

You don't have to hate them. But you should hear deep into yourself and ask is there any coolness about EWOKS? Maybe Ewoks are the Hippies of Star Wars? Has anybody seen George Lukas in Love?
feck off!
I like them , mainly as they were the counterweight of my fear of the sand people in New Hope as a kid.

However , I can also see them as a potential money spinner for Lucas as part of a set; 'Realistic AT-ST' complete with ewok warrior'.

They were always my least favourite of my toy figures. I had 3 Chief Lograys and a couple of Teebos as well. They were about as shit as the 3PO and Obi Wan Kenobi figures. Actually worst of all , the one action Star Wars figure that no one ever wanted yet always ended up with instead of R2D2 or IG88 was that prick General Madine and his lecturing stick. I still expect to see a pile of General Madines in Woolies to this day. I think Ree Yees was the other one alongside Teebo and Logray that youd always find disapointingly in the Toy bin at woolies.

Love 'em... 'specially barbequed with corn on the cob!
