New free stuff over at play.com . Get yourself some free tat in the form of a Pirates Of the Caribbean coin thingy just put PIRATES into the voucher box when you click through to checkout (on the right) and it'll be reduced to £0.00 with free P&P. Yes it's tat. But it's free eBay sellable tat!
Jon 79
Cheers for that. I've just ordered mine.

Maybe. Oh and I would perhaps make a 'not actual size' note on eBay, it is considerably smaller than that.

I thought about that... but i figure: It's a photograph.... Photos are never actual size. ....unless stated.

When I was bidding on it I made the assumption that the photo was significantly larger than the actual coin.

But there'll always be one ninny out there waiting to jump all over you because you didn't state that it wasn't actual size, so probably best to cover your arse.
m0r1arty
Just so it's known, the first promotion never did happen Nitefall, and I had osts pointing to it!

I know. Not my fault though. Don't blame me. Don't hate the player, hate the game. etc, etc...
m0r1arty

Mwa Ha Ha Ha Haaaa!!
Ghost_862
It appears they don't want to send me my free Pirates coin. I ordered it days ago and it's not been dispatched, which is most odd for play.com
NiteFall
DVD rentals this time from www.screenselect.com although I'll admit I have an ulterior motive. If you give me your email address and I send you an invite you get 6 free rentals and I get some free as well. If you're interested PM me your email address.
Jubei
I have a coke bottle with a free iTunes download code on it. I don't use iTunes and don't plan to, so the first person to PM me can have the code and get themselves a free song.

You have to register on www.coca-cola.co.uk/music and enter the code for validation on iTunes.

>>>> Still available - no one wants it?
NiteFall
As mentioned elsewhere free tickets for advance screenings of Children Of Men.
Jubei
Like they'd ever have an advance screening for anything in exeter. Weak. Nearest one is Bournemouth or Cardiff. Rubbish.

Right, clearly no-one wants it, but I've got another one now. I'm just going to post the codes here. If you want a free iTunes download just register the codes on coca-cola/music website and you can have 2 free songs. If they don't work, someone else had them already.

I got one of those codes before, too, and the darned registration process never worked right!

Not a problem.

OK, this one isn't exactly free stuff but it's a good discount. I have a coupon on ebay. Maybe everyone gets it. If you're paying for something with paypal and the sale price is £60 or over, enter the code CUDDLYTOY2 for a £10 discount. Offer expires on the 21st of september so be quick. Can't guarentee it will work, but gove it a go if you hapen to be buying something.

If you need cheap train tickets over the next couple of weeks (and you're based in London, pretty much) then go to printtraintickets.com.

I find it annoying that they don't cover any journeys I'm likely to make, so I suggest that everyone exploit this website as much as possible before the prices go up.
NiteFall
Not really free stuff, but this appeared in my email inbox earlier this week

This Friday and Saturday (20th / 21st October) HMV.co.uk is offering you a 20% online discount*. Just use the promotional code: SQ1515 to save 20% on thousands of CDs, DVDs, games and accessories (future releases are excluded and terms and conditions apply.)

I don't have any moneys so I can't take advantage of this. I'm sure some of you lovely people can though.

I'd use it if HMV wasn't being such a cock at the moment.
Omniscia
Damn you, HMV code! Work! Work, dang it!

Papa wants 20% off Darkplace!

Oh, I have to sign in, first.

Wait a minute, even with the discount, it's more expensive than Play.com? You almost got my money, HMV, almost, but not this time!

I've just been sent quite a nice grovelly letter to the effect of 'oops - the dvd you want to order is out of stock so instead of informing you we just hoped you wouldn't notice', which has appeased me somewhat - good job it was a pre-pre birthday present for my aunt whose birthday isn't actually til December.
However I just placed an order and had to refresh the page then check my orders list to make sure it had actually gone through - the website definitely still being arsey.

Damn it! I want to see Jean de Florette again! How come you guys get those films for free, and we have to pay $30 for a used copy? tongue.gif
NiteFall
Well, if you have a region-free DVD player and are very nice to someone here who either A: Buys the Independent, or B: Has access to the codes they'll be printing in the paper (especially if someone posts them on the webbernet, hint, hint), then you'll probably be able to get one for the cost of p&p... laugh.gif
Omniscia
True. The Internet must have codes! It always does!

Once in a while, if you buy a paper around here, you get a coupon for a "free" bottle of fruit-flavoured tap water, if you buy another at the full price, which is about $1.65.
Jon 79
Cool.
If the paper's 70p, that's just £2.10 for a dvd!! smile.gif *
I'm thinking of getting Amelie. Although it's a cool stylish film, it is the better of the 2 that I've seen (the other being crouching tiger) Can anyone recommend another film I may want from the list?.... Please use the phase 'if you like [film I may have seen already] then you'll love [film from the list]. ... or something.

*[edit] though I suppose you could just wander into Smiths & make a note of the codes. wink.gif
mcraigclark
If you like Jean de Florette, then you'll love Manon des Sources.

Sorry.

Seriously, Hotel Rwanda, Tsotsi and Amelie are all good choices, in my opinion.
Omniscia
Well, if you liked Amelie, you may consider picking up A Very Long Engagement, which was the next film that Audrey Tautou and Jean-Pierre Jeunet worked together on. It is equal measures whimsy, war, mystery and romance, set against the golden fields of Brittany and the deathly-pale mire of the trenches of the First World War.
Jon 79
Think i'll still go for Amelie... I don't know much about world cinema, but I know what I like. wink.gif

I will look out for the others though. Cheers.
mcraigclark
The terminology changed from foreign film to world cinema pretty quickly.
