I loved the tape loop; got exposed to lots of fantastic music.  But, I felt terrible that someone had to keep paying a ton extra to send the CDs to me over here.  Punkass inspired me to see who would be interested in our own intracontinental tape loop?  Any takers?

Then you want in.  Basically, everyone makes a mix and sends it on, you receive a mix in return, sort of in the form of a loop.  Did that make any sense?

Does everyone understand the concept of the loop?

I've had a busy week, so I just want to make sure I have it right.  You make a CD for someone, mail it to them, and then they mail it to the next person.  You receive a CD from someone, listen to it, and you mail it on to the next person.

As for format, I presume this is a standard CD and not an MP3 CD.

Yup, standard CD.  In between the mailings, reviews of the CDs are posted.  Tracklists are omitted from the CDs but can be PM'd post-review if desired.

Firmly inspired, and doing a good job of avoiding my reading for class tomorrow.

The compilation is more important than the content.
People see mix tapes as a chance to stuff their favourite pieces of music by all their favourite bands onto one disc, with no thought for the listener. The best mixes create an experience, that from beginning to end has variety, but which maintains an overall conherance. The first track draws you in, either in a low-key and seductive way, or with a thrilling, attention grabbing number. Equally the end must be strong - maybe even the best song on the whole CD, and must make a fitting climax to the journey.
Length is important (oo-er). Too long and people become bored. Too short and there is no sense of experience. About an hour is ideal. People rarely listen to whole albums any more. Successful mixes will hold the attention for the whole time, with no skipping or becoming bored.

I don't recall the last time I made a mix for anyone, but I dare say I was 22 (I'm 29 now).  Damn, this has been fun.

Even if no one else enjoys this mix, at least I have had fun.  Let the mailing begin!

i might still be in... it's just that posting a cd from up here could be really expensive. is ther anyway we could use radio blog or something to host it?

Yeah, that's true.  It was only about 3 bucks when I sent stuff to the brits.

3 bucks is a days wages for me... and everything must be flown out of moosonee or sent by train as there are no roads, hence the extra expences.
