I'm not letting her near the gin.

Or the controls.

Thanks for the tipoff Kate - I've passed the message onto Fischer.

What, that he's sexy?
I think he already knows.
He is a lovely man, intense, but lovely.
widowspider
Wow - top celebs all round. Nice one Shack! I'll have to try and get a listen in at work, although it's been chaos recently. Bloody job, expecting me to work while I'm there.
Shack
I still can't shake the image of Paul Daniels pulling someone's guts out with a bayonet.

Terrifying.

This week we're after stories of best or worst things you've found in charity shops.

Gobstopper@bbc.co.uk is the address.

In other radio news, I've started listening the Collins and Herring podcasts, where they cover things in the papers on a weekly basis, re-invigorating the bit they used to do on the radio before they shamefully axed Andrew Collins from 6Music.

It's very funny and not edited. There was a bit about wanking in the Queens ear on the second show that made me laugh out loud on my way home.
Shack
Tonight on Gobstopper we're after the X Filesey type stuff you believe in.

The Loch Ness monster?

Ghosts?

Ghoulies?

Aliens?

And have you had any experience of them?

Let us know your thoughts at gobstopper@bbc.co.uk
Shack
Regular Gobstopperers may know we'd been put forward for a prestigious award.

Unfortunately we did not quite make the final cut so won't be award winners for the time being, which is a shame as there can be no other radio shows where someone reveals they'd like to keep a fish on his sexy sturgeon bed.

(Fischer, not me)

Perhaps we need a podcast.

I have been on a "doing" mission in the last 24 hours and have chased this up with the big bosses... Apparently we're bound by red tape.

I'm going to start whinging at them.

Tonight.....

Guests include Boro fans' website magnate Steve Goldby, Stockton music impressario Chris Graham, and live music from the brillaint Elaine Palmer - all on Gobstopper, BBC Tees, 95FM, DAB and online at www.bbc.co.uk/tees from 7-10pm tonight. Yay!

E-mail us with your early cinema experiences as well.

What was the first film you saw? What you can you remember about going to the cinema? Was it you kissing in the back row of the movies on a Saturday?

Wife Of Rolex
Jon Holmes in sitting in for Stephen Merchant on 6Music this afternoon, 3pm-5pm. Defintely worth a listen.
Almond_Adam
Banter. Radio 4 Thrusdays 6:30. That's quite good.

Russell Howard and Richard Herring are regular panelists.

Anyone else caught this?

Because most of the radio has turned to poo lately I decided to wander from the pre-set staions on my DAB and discovered the Birdsong station, which is just continuous birdsong. It's very relaxing, I think I'm going to sleep to it.

I've submitted a video entry to the MySpace Mars Planets Radio co-presenter competition (yes I know, I'm a sell-out before I've even begun), so if you'd like to give me a vote or just make fun of my stupid face, you can view my video here. Please...be gentle. wink.gif

Gobstopper goes five nights a week from roughly the end of July, but cuts to 8-10.

It's very good news for Mr Fischer as I think he deserves it.

They also want to train my up to use the equipment so I can fill in for him (or possibly others).

I don't know why they like me but they seem to like me talking about my bowels and my life as a failure. Must be endearing.

Yay me though.

Well done Shack & Bob.

I've not listened for over a month now (footie and other engagements). What have I missed?

I've started playing a stylophone over the last record of the night, I told a story about me carrying a stool sample around in my bag and hoping I didn't get knocked over in case a stranger had to go through my bag to identify me (Bob cried) and we put the world to rights on how dull the Premier League can be.

I also baked brownies and everyone was impressed.

Congrats Shack! That's most exciting. I too have been remiss and not listened in a while as work has been getting in the way.
Ade
Wow! May I echo the sentiments - congratulations indeed to thee both. I haven't listened to you anywhere near often enough, but at least now I have less excuse to keep missing your show. Again, wow! Nice one, geezer. happy.gif

Thanks poppets.

As well as enjoying the laughing out loud while walking to Adam and Joe 6 Music podcasts and the Collins and Herring one ("Your mum is a fucking idiot"), I'recently started listening to old Rusty Brand.

I wish I'd started listening ages ago. That'll teach me for not listening to dandan's advice all those yearrrrrrs back.
Kick in the Head
Preston FM will be re-broadcasting an episode of Tokyo Soundscape (with yours truly) tomorrow from 12-1pm. Not sure which one (probably one I recorded last week), so give it a listen if you're in the Preston area - should be listenable online too from their site.

I've been listening to those... They're fantastic. Never short of hilarious. Oh... actually... they're quite often short of hilarious... but hilarity always visits eventually.

Cool. Will we hear your personal favourites... or an eclectic variety of Japanese music?

They are a hoot. I liked the one about "whispering in the Queen's ear" as well.

On Gobblestopples tomorrow night, we're interested in your stories of sex education. Did you put a condom on a cucumber or watch people playing naked sports? Did your mum or dad sit you down and explain things in a way that terrified you and left you unable to look them in the eye ever again?

Mail gobstopper@bbc.co.uk.

The more strange the better.
Shack
Gobstopper is in the process of dying and becoming "The Bob Fischer Show".

He's an egomaniac and he's out of control.

Because of that our e-mail address is changing.

Instead of gobstopper as the message above, the prefix is now bobf.

He's drunk with power.

Tonight's topic is "Medicines you had when you were younger".

Mmmmmm Sudafed.

Mmmmm, Benylin. I almost became addicted to the stuff as a nipper, so much so I'd sneak crafty spoonfuls of it even when I didn't have a sore throat.

Ewwww, Disprin with a little bit of water mushed up in a teaspoon.
Ade
Milk of Magnesia. Slightly enjoyable, mildly minty chalkiness. Eee, happy tumkins.

Do ointments count? I spent most of my childhood caked in Sudocrem™.
And everyone knew a kid who claimed to have 'chugged a bottle of calpol'.
Shack
Only one more Wednesday night show for me before the big switcheroo.

The 23rd of July will be a best of (just a short show then - arf) and then from the week commencing the 28th of July Gobstopper will be five nights a week.

I'lll have to change my signature.

Tch.

Still use it! Great for when you get a case of 'Riggers Bollocks' (when you get all hot and sweaty in the nads region causing a form of nappy rash!) wink.gif

Since moving to Laaaahndon I have been enjoying Alex Zane's XFM breakfast show.

It's reminded me how much I used to like him when he did MTV's movie show, Screenplay.

I have forgotten all about Popworld mk II. All is forgiven, Alex.

Do you know if this will be on "listen again". I might try and get to Bob's signing at Forbidden Planet that night

It was on "listen again", but it wasn't a "best of". Fischer just played out sessions he'd recorded.

We're now on Tuesday and Thursday (except when there's football on a Tuesday).

And it's two hours long now. Less for the Shackfans to get their teeth into.
Shack
On toniiiiiiiiights amazing Bob Fischer radio show (with added Shackleton)...

We have a very special guest. It's my father, the respected Yarm accountant Geoffrey Shackleton.

To celebrate, we're having a Dad wisdom (or parent wisdom) special. Basically we're after things your parents said when you were little?

"Don't touch that or it'll fall off"

"You'll go blind"

"Stop wanking"

Mail them to bobf(at)bbc.co.uk

The new Armstrong and Miller podcasts for the Times are excellent.

WOULD YOU STOP TALKING ABOUT YOUR FUCKING CAT!?

I think Adam would especially enjoy them, I can imagine him as 'Zeitgeist Editor'.

I downloaded the first one last week, as well as all of the Collings and Herrin podcasts to date - haven't had a chance to listen to any of them yet. Timely reminder.

The Collings and Herrin ones are very good. I like the ramshacklocity.

I've just listened to all of Stephen Fry's Podgrams this week. They're top notch. My only criticism is I sometimes spend so long listening to his voice, I don't really mind what words he's saying.

Episode 4 (about top slicing the television license fee) was a particular treat.

Oh, and we've got the Krankies on the radio on Thursday night. We've timed it right, Little Jimmy is in the middle of his school holidays.
Shack
Thursday and Friday this week mark the first Shack on the radio without Fischer show...

Let's call it the Shackleshow (thanks Adam).

BBC Tees appear to like me for some reason.

Mentalists. 8-10 pm and bbc.co.uk/tees if yowz is interested.

Me and my housemate have got ourselves a radio show on Forge Radio and the first one goes out this Saturday, 4 til 5.30 and you can listen here. It'll also be available as a listen again (hopefully) so you'll just need to look for ''Peaches and Onions.''
Kick in the Head
While I was hanging out with my French friend (in France) last week, we listened to a lot of Nostalige in the car, with lots of hugely entertaining French pop from nothing later than 20 years ago. They'd also play a few classic rock and disco hits from the US and UK too. And you can listen to it online here as they ready themselves for a Jacques Brel weekend. It also has some great jingles.
Omniscia
Whoa. One of the local classic rock stations is actually playing some Porcupine Tree. They really have improved since Clear Channel sold them off.
Zoe
People should listen to and enjoy 'Cowards' via listen again, because it's good and funny and that.
Zoe
Still funny

I was meant to do a radio show last Saturday but work meant that I could not. However, seeing as it was our last show until January, I decided to do some pre-recorded stuff for my co-host to play. If anyone wants to hear me butchering a Simple Minds song, ranting about student journalism, attempting to review about 30 films in a short space of time and generally pratting around, you can listen again to it here.

There's also some decent music, ranging from singer-songwritery stuff to d'n'b, and two of my best friends pondering about my sex life after I chose a certain Grinderman song for them to play.
maian
Not sure if this is the right place to put this since it's a podcast, but never mind. I've been listening to a lot of Battleship Pretension recently (funny and informative movie podcast) and they just pointed me in the direction of The Treatment, an interview show featuring some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Since there's a fair few movie fans on here, I thought some of you might like to have a look and a listen.
Zoe
My favourite Ian McEwan work and top five novel of all time 'The Child in Time' is being dramatised on radio 4 this week.

I heard a very odd radio trailer for Danny Wallace's takeover of Adam and Joe's show on Sunday.

At the end of last Sunday's show Adam and Joe explained that Danny would be taking over next week and then had a bit of a chat about him and what he'd been up to. The trailer uses this bit but then cuts clips of Danny Wallace in commenting on what they are saying as if he was there at the time.

It's very odd, especially when I think about how he must have sat there recording that trailer by himself, pretending he was being spoken to.
