Kick in the Head
Jul 28 2006, 07:47 AM
Empire Online reports of a new rom-com starring Simon Pegg and directed by David Schwimmer:
QUOTE
Run, Fat Boy, Run tells the tale of a charming yet unsatisfied man who leaves his fiancée standing at the altar, only to realise his terrible mistake years after the event. He enters a marathon in the hopes of winning the woman he loves back, but faces a roadblock in the form of her sexy, rich new fiancé.
Gold Circle films is producing the film, which starts shooting in the UK next month.
Looks like it has lots of rom-com potential. Full article

Sounds good to me! Another short article
here.
Do you reckon he's gonna have to put weight back on to film the wedding/pre marathon scenes?!

Ain't it Cool was suggesting that it'd be a fat suit sorta thing, but I think they've got the wrong end of the stick. It doesn't sound at all like its an obese man, probably just someone with a bit of a belly.

I was kind of hoping he would anyway; he looks better with a little meat on his bones.
And I'm shocked at how few of the articles are mentioning the fact that Michael Ian Black (
Stella, The State, Wet Hot American Summer, etc.) wrote it. That's hugely in its favor...

Ehhhhh I dunno about this. Now if it was our boy Nick Frost up for the role that'd make a bit more sense.

Well Michael Ian Black starred in "The Baxter" with the rest of the Stella crew. That was also about leaving people at the altar...but thats about the extent of similarities.

Actually it was Michael Showalter who was the star and writer of the baxter, michael ian black just played one of his friends although they were both in stella and the state and are both extremely talented.

IMDb has Thandie Newton in this, presumably as the female lead:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425413/Unconfirmed, but would be grand if it's true.

She is involved - she called in to the Virgin Radio Breakfast Show this morning and said she was working on the film with Simon.

For all you Pegg-o-phile freaks out there, they're filming on the South Bank at the moment, or at least the signs I saw along there yesterday seemed to indicate so.

Very funny.

The everso slightly odd thing about this, in visual terms, is Simon was cast for this around the time he did M:I3 & Big Nothing - when he was a bit more heavy set. But he filmed Hot Fuzz - for which he shed 2 stone for - before doing this, so he looks too fit and lean to even be considered a 'fatboy'. It looks like it's a funny script but I'm wondering how Simon's obvious fitness from the start will play on screen.
Nice pants.

He said in a quote that the whole fat boy thing was supposed to be a state of mind rather than physical. And I noticed that at the beginning of the teaser, there is a Team America poster on the back wall behind Simon.

Aw, no you're not! I, on the other hand....
Anyway, I wouldn't say that Simon was ever "fat", but he was carrying a bit extra for a while there. (But he was still gorgeous, imo).

Now, if he lost about 2 stone, that means he lost around 12-13 kilos!

That's quite a lot! And he does look extremely hot now.
Feel the love.

I'm sure Simon was never fat. He does look very trim and toned in HF though.
I lost 12kgs once. A few years ago now. I think I've put it all back on again unfortunately.
Kept it off for a while though. The picture in my profile is taken just after I lost the weight.
I like to keep that photo and pretend to myself that I still look like that
I don't think I'm really a heffalump but I could certainly afford to lose a couple of stone meself.
Looking at the pics from the meet on Saturday I though - oh dear that top makes me look preggers!

I blame today's fashions. hehehehehe
And you my dear are not fat at all. You're lovely!

So I was just watching the lovely Chris Hewitt's first Comic-Con video blog on Empire's site, and did a double take when this shot came up:

Methinks Picturehouse is smarter than I gave them credit for. RFBR isn't exactly a Comic-Con-genre type movie, but they know where the Pegg's audience is...

p.s. I. WANT. ONE.

If you see the trailer for "Stardust" (which is what we saw before Transformers) make sure you look out for Adam Buxton! Hi-hi.
*edit* Just noticed that Simon has on a Siousxie & the Banshees T-shirt in the trailer.

Looking forward to Stardust though. Looks interesting. But I'm looking forward to Run Fatboy Run more. (see! on topic!)
