The bit that made me go "eh?" was Connor’s unconvincing love interest being at Stephen's funeral - why was she there?!

I think there is a possibility she'll be joining the team next series.
Raven
I think the signs are pointing that way, but what is her job going to be? Inept Seductress?!

Considering how she caught Rex perhaps she could capture a T-Rex or mammoth by chucking cushions and crockery.

She's going to need a bigger cushion.

You can't take credit for the crockery....just the cushions.

No. There was no bread related shenanigans in Premeval.

How about her melons? (there was fruit related tomfoolery!).

A rather cutting (wink.gif) review of series 2 from Digital Spy:

QUOTE
Spare us the Cutter
By Dek Hogan

Did all this conspiracy stuff get right on your nerves in Primeval? What on earth was wrong with using the dinosaurs as the nominal baddies? Was anyone really bothered about the machinations of wimpy bad guy Oliver Leek?

Leek's end wasn't graphically shown and neither was that of lantern jawed second fiddle hero Stephen, who has spent most of this season being misled by creepy anomaly-jumping Helen. I'm not entirely sure how she had managed to mesmerise him but I'm betting that her ridiculously hoisted up cleavage has had some sort of impact. It did on me, reminding me that I was running low on grapefruits.

I think my main problem with the show is that I actually don't like any of the main characters. I think we were supposed to be emotionally moved when Stephen made the ultimate sacrifice and the reaction the makers were trying to illicit was not the conga we started at Hogan Towers as the creatures moved in for the kill.

The big graveside cliffhanger didn't exactly get me all excited about series three. We don't need convoluted sci-fi plots, less of that and more of Ben Miller letting rip with a machine gun would be nice.

The biggest disappointment though has been emotional train wreck Nick Cutter, who spent most of season one moping over his deranged time-jumping wife and this one trying to wrap his head around the fact that Claudia isn't Claudia anymore. Anyone else miffed that it was Rex that got shot and not Jenny?

A big centrepiece of the finale was the long brewing cat fight between Abby and Caroline. WWE fights are more believable.
Raven
Series three has been confirmed for an extended run of 10 episodes, and there are three new cast members being introduced.

Unfortunately I can't link to the article I read about this last night because Digital Spy doesn't work for me at work!

Any news on the pants?
Baz
Just saw Ben Miller interviewed on the telly and he said Primeval series 3 starts in March at some point, for those that like such filth.
Raven
Yay!

(any news on series 3 DVDs?)
Raven
Saturday March 28th is when the monster mayhem starts again.

Does this mean Primeval will go head-to-head with Doctor Who on Easter Saturday?!

Saw the trailer for the new series the other day and it did come across as a lot darker than the previous two series. But as we all know from the Star Wars prequels, trailers can lie!
Sostie
From the review I've just read in Time Out it seems Cutter leaves the show Saturday and Jason Flemyng becomes a permenant member of the cast.
Raven
^^

Not reading that!
Raven
Just watched Saturday's episode.

Shit. I didn't see that coming . . .
Baz
Dare I say it, I'm actually enjoying this series so far. A lot better than the previous ones and more entertaining than Robin Hood.

Saw the latest one on ITV Player. Noticed this.

Dare I say, I enjoyed it more than Saturday's Doctor Who. And Jason Flemyng is in it now, yay! I wonder if he can pursuade his mates Brad Pitt and The Stath to make guest appearances?

You're not the only one, the SFX web site has Primeval just edging out Who in a "Best of Easter" poll.
Shack
I missed Saturday's episode because I was lured in watching Doctor Who instead. Loose lips Tennant at it again.

Can someone summarise the episode for me? I got the feeling it was a bit of a crucial one and my understanding of the show is hanging by a bit of a thread anyway.
Raven
Quick(ish) summary:

Conor, Abby, Cutter and GI Joe go off to a hospital to investigate an anomaly. Whilst they are gone Helen uses a Nick Cutter clone and her clone squad to gain access to the ARC where she captures Jenny, the new girl and Ben Miller's character. With the hospital situation sorted (it was a harmless bunch of cute wall burrowing dinos) Nick and Co. return to the ARC and are captured themselves. Nick then discovers that Helen is trying to find information on the rod like artefact she recovered in the first episode. After neutralising Helen's clone squad the team escapes, but the Nick Cutter clone sets off a bomb that destroys the ARC. The real Nick then goes after Helen and the two have a face-off where she accuses him of causing the end of the world (which she has seen) and says that she can't let that happen so she shoots Nick. Conor goes back into the building and finds Nick dying. Nick gives him the artefact he has managed to get off Helen and charges him with investigating it before he then dies . . .

Plus a reporter played by the Gay Biker from This Life (Tanita Tikarim's brother I believe) is "hot on their trail".

And Jason Flemyng looks like he is joining the team.

I've missed a few in recent weeks but managed to watch the series finale last night.

I'm not sure what to make of it. Knockabout fun replaced by completion of long and complicated plot scenario but with obvious plans for another series.

I reckon they should get more Ben Miller in it (unless he's died in the episdoes I've missed).
Baz
I really enjoyed this series a lot more that the previous two. Glad to see that they are finally moving on from Cutters story with Helen as she was a bit annoying, just a shame her death was a bit pants.

Just hope that series 4 they can continue to move on in the right direction and cut the last of the dead wood cast (soldier boy and the other women who I can't even remember her name) and just keep it to Abby, Connor, Danny and Lester as these are the characters that have improved 10 fold over the series and I no longer find Connor annoying.
Sostie
For such an improved series it really deserved a better cliff hanger.

I've seen that around quite a bit over the last few days, but I am struggling to see how - if at all - the series has actually improved (to my mind they have spent most of it just running around!).

I miss Cutter, I think he was the glue that held the team together and I feel that Henshall had more of an on-screen presence than Flemyng does (Quinn's not bad, but he doesn't seem to know what he is doing or why, and leaving the explanations to Connor means things fall a tad flat).

Series three was a series in flux, however, we've still not seen what Page or Becker really have to offer, so hopefully next year - if there is a next year - will be better.
Kick in the Head
Primeval axed
Raven
QUOTE (Kick in the Head @ Jun 15 2009, 12:56 PM) *

I'm not hugely surprised by that, to be honest.

Dropping viewing figures and ITV tightening purse strings didn't bode well for renewal and I think the change in cast hasn't helped this season.

Another factor, against previous years viewing figures, is that it was broadcast later in the year, this year, which is always a bit of a killer for Saturday night ratings when the weather starts to warm up and the Barbie season starts.

ETA:

More information from Digital Spy.

Jason Flemyng is trapped. FOREVER.
grumpygit
It's probably for the best.
Raven
I'm wondering if Demons failing flat on it’s arse as it did has had an impact on this, and whether ITV have decided to throw in the towel on Saturday night drama when their best - Primeval – was still getting lower ratings than the BBCs worst - Robin Hood(y).
