"Perfect Night In..."
New sitcom on Channel 4 (UK) starring Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.

No details, pictures or dates, it was just announced during the adverts on 4.

Can anyone else report this? Someone just told me this two seconds ago.

the lineup sounds decent smile.gif
going to be one ill tune in to
Zoe
They didn't really say anything.

The just said 'Perfect Night in' coming soon, featuring Matt Lucas, David Walliams, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

I presumed it was some kind of one off clip thing, not a sitcom, as I've heard nothing about it previously and they're all very high profile.

QUOTE
LITTLE Britain’s Matt Lucas and David Walliams will reveal their TV favourites in a new Channel 4 series.

The comic duo will talk viewers through their favourite TV clips and best small-screen moments for Perfect Night In to be shown in April.

A C4 spokesman said: “Matt and David have an entertaining selection which ranges from a swimming pool death in Grange Hill to a hissy fit scene in The Young Ones.

“They also plump for Rod Hull and Emu and hilarious out-takes from I’m Alan Partridge, and, as a Gunners fan, Matt also chooses a famous Arsenal goal.”

The series will also feature Hot Fuzz stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, Paul Daniels, and Rolf Harris with guest appearances from Zammo from Grange Hill, alias actor Lee MacDonald, and former kid’s favourite Gordon the Gopher

ABC1 Adults 16-34

A new series featuring some of comedy's favourite A-List stars as they choose their perfect night of TV. Matt Lucas and David Walliams, and then Simon Pegg and Nick Frost take turns to talk viewers through their favourite ever clips and TV moments...
In each episode the comedians reveal their finest viewing memories, from comedies to dramas, documentaries and feature films. They will also choose their favourite commercials as well as the strangest shows from overseas, while also putting together their perfect TV schedule. They may also choose to drop in a few choice clips of themselves, from their earlier, less-funny days...
Matt Lucas and David Walliams lead off with the first show, revealing their entertaining selection, which runs from a swimming pool death in Grange Hill and a hissy-fit in The Young Ones, to Rod Hull and Emu, a famous Arsenal goal and some hilarious out-takes from I'm Alan Partridge. Other contributors to the debut show, including people from the clips themselves, are Paul Daniels, Rolf Harris, Zammo from Grange Hill and even Gordon the Gopher!

This was on during that top 50 comedy characters thingy wasnt it?

you know, the one that had a certain Mr Bisley at something like number 8, with interviews from jessica and julia

....oh, and i'm pretty certain the whole thing was narrated by simon. and i only caught onto the fact it was him when he was describing spaced as "a sitcom about the nineties slacker generation with daisy, tim, his best freind mike....oh, and their dog colin" It desperately needed spandex man playing over it.

The BBC did something like this a couple of years ago didn't they?

Still, it'll be interesting to see their choices.

Glad someone else watched it, I made a topic about it in the Castwatch section, and yes, it was narrated by Simon Pegg.

Yeah, I remember Vic and Bob doing it. I can't remember the name, but the format sounds the same as this.
rebelstar
The Vic and Bob one was quite a few years ago (mid nineties, I think) - was it called 'Vic And Bob's Selection Box', or something? I think I've got it on vido somewhere.

I saw an advert for this show last night. It's going to be on this Sunday at 9pm on Channel4.

Eyyy!
CazBag
Did anyone watch the Lucas and Walliams favourites last night? I really enjoyed it, very nostalgic watching stuff you used to watch when you were a wee nipper and stuff you've not seen since it was first aired. Personally I loved seeing Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy wrestling. I used to love watching British wrestling on a Saturday afternoon! I was about 7 years old and remember being so excited going to see them at the Bournemouth Pavillion one year. laugh.gif
CazBag
oooooo forgot to say ... Jess was one of their favourite actresses too and had interview bits with her. Showed clips of Spaced and her favourite bits.

The snippets of next week's show with Simon and Nick look like a great laugh.
Kirstie Allsopp, Phil Spencer and sexual tension! laugh.gif

I saw some of it...It really did bring back memories. Unfortunately it brought back memories of that Kinder Egg advert which I thought I had blocked out forever!...Oh, well...back to therapy I go!

I'm particularly excited about seeing 2 whole episodes (and 2 of the best, as well) of Spaced on Channel 4. biggrin.gif It could prompt a full repeat of the lot if proved particularly popular.

Does anyone else think this is stupid? Why would I want to hear what other people like watching on television, and it makes a difference they're celebrities how?

But they're geeks. Therefore it's interesting (and rather comforting) to know they like to watch the same shite on telly that I do/did.
dolfyn
Yeah, Mr Grinch! tongue.gif What Ghosty said. Geeks like to share their love of whatever they geeking out over. And it's even better if they're celebrity geeks, like Simon & Nick. happy.gif

I semi agree. I've got great taste but chances are i'm not going to get my own two hour show to talk about it. It is, let's face it, cheap to make telly.

Having said that - Pegg and Frost are back on the small screen!

Yeah guys, don't get me wrong, Pegg and Frost are great! Being geeks doesn't make a difference though? You should be proud of what television preference you have yourselves, why do you need any confirmation that other people (primarily Simon and Nick) like it too. Thats all I'm saying. laugh.gif
Wife Of Rolex
I thought it was more about the TV shows that inspired them growing up or inspire them now, and so have a certain impact on their work/careers that we're fans of. Plus they're showing clips of Simon and Nick's early flashes in TV before Spaced.

Geeks of a feather, and all that.

And I don't care what anyone says, I'll never be 'proud' of the fact that I like Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. It's utter shite, and I knows it.

I've just realized the Lucas/Walliams episode didn't make it over the pond through my usual channels.

Shit.
Ade
I wasn't really overly struck on the Walliams/Lucas episode to be quite frank - their patter seemed more than a little wishy-washy. I am, however, looking very much forward to the next episode... smile.gif
Alienlint
Aw. The first few posts got me all excited about a sitcom. I was thinking maybe it was that super secret thing they were talking about in THIS interview.

QUOTE
Simon Pegg: We're writing a film together here for the autumn.

Question: You two are writing?

Simon Pegg: Yeah, and I think Edgar is going to direct, or produce or script supervise.

Question: Can you talk about it?

Simon Pegg: Not really.

Question: Is it a comedy?

Simon Pegg: Yeah, but we just don't want to talk about it.

But this sounds fun too. I'm sure they'll set it up to be just as funny as everything else they do.

It did, yes. Although it was good to see some things, like Big Daddy/Giant Haystacks, and the Walliams/Gatiss Who sketch. (Even though their Peter Davison one is far funnier.)

The next one will be great, if only to see Dave Ross, creator of the Daleks.

That would have been an awful lot more modest worded like that.

This show was never going to be ground breaking, as people have said it's essentially a cheap to produce nostalgic trip, much like those 'Top 100' things except with a different host each time (probably only worth watching if you like that weeks hosts). I enjoyed last weeks a bit, but then I sometimes quite enjoy silly nostalgia.

Doesn't everyone believe they've got great taste in things? This way EVERYBODY IS RIGHT. No arrogance intended!

I thought Lucas was good but Walliams looked like he wanted to be somewhere else. In bed with a young blonde lady perhaps?
Starscream`s Ghost
Maybe he did. But he did have something to say on the Flash Gordon/Star Wars debate. Namely that although SW is the better film, FG is better to watch.

You can pretty much apply this idea to the majority of things which appear in any magazine ever, loads of TV shows and, you know, everything.
Like, why should we care what celebrities like, eat, do, think????
Who knows? But clearly people do - that's how the industry works.

Celebrity is an industry all on its own now. Doesn't even seem to matter any more WHAT someone is famous for. Just THAT they are famous!

Exactly that. It was good to see rare clips that you're not likely to see again that you remember well from the 80's. To me it didn't matter who presented it as I was just watching it for the clips and nostalgic trip.

I'd fallen by the way-side from the forum for a bit (Hot Fuzz - don't want to talk about it) then I saw Simon and Nick on the telly talking about how they'd be talking about their favourite TV moments (and a nod to the camera from Simon!).

So howdeehi everyone! - Lecturing sure does eat up alot of spare time.

I'm looking forward to this. Sure it ain't episode three, but it should be a good chance to see how contemporary culture (is Spaced still contemporary?) is influenced by experience, especially from the media (i.e. in this case telly) from a perceptive, albeit never in contact, mentor of ours.

And even if it is a load of old tosh, it's Simon and Nick hanging out.

Let's mind there was ne'er a time when Simon or nick showed up on I Love...1984 or whatnot.

Simon got to narrate his whole on show about weeks of the past.

So should be above average viewing!
