I imagine there's some kind of argument for it increasing left-right brain interactions or somesuch. At least, that's the argument to use when caught playing it at work.

Having become re-addicted to Tower Defense, I have to ask, how do you stop the Dark variety of enemy?
NiteFall
Tower defenski.

Like all good internet games; addictive and oh so frustrating.

That's a bitch to beat!

I only got to 20,000+ points before I lost. It's very addictive.
maian
I find that you can get through the first 6 or 7 waves with just two men. Put a sniper and a machine gunner near the middle and they'll be able to take out pretty much all of them. You can then focus on funnelling the enemy using roadblocks and setting up firebombers on every available surface along their route. Even with this strategy it took me about 40 tries to complete it on Novice.
NiteFall
Simple, yet so very annoying after a few levels.

Bollocks! Got me on the last wave!

I've found a rather addictive and super-cute game:

The Asylum

You have to help cure some abused cuddly toys. happy.gif
NiteFall
Yet more tower defence.

That's excellent, although I did rather bugger my chances of winning by putting in too many corners!

How do you actually drive on that? I couldn't find instructions ...

My most favouritest quiz game ever: You Don't Know Jack

Play daily mini-quiz versions for free, or fork out your hard earned cash for the full game on CD. Contains mature content....with far better contestant put-downs by the host than anything Anne Robinson could ever dish out on TV.

I own the 1997 UK edition on CD-ROM, which features the vocal talents of actor Paul Kaye, aka 'Hoover' from Spaced 1.3, aka Dennis Pennis (and is much funnier too, if you ask me).

PS - if the keyboard shortcuts don't work, just use the mouse to point and click the required key graphic.

I played that every day in Japan for a couple of months, but have since fallen by the wayside. Must give it another go.

Wait, what am I talking about? Why am I even in this thread? I should be writing an essay! wacko.gif

I love it, too. Unfortunately, the only CD-ROM I have today, that for volume 3, crashes my system...

Thanks for reminding us of the website. It's been months since I've had a go!

If you want to waste time, improve your vocabulary and donate to a good cause, top site at the moment is Free Rice. For every word you answer correctly, 10 grains of rice are donated to the UN World Food Program. Sounds small, but in just a month or so, over a billion grains have been donated. No need to sign in or stick in details - just wordy (and worldly) goodness.
Omniscia
I'm gonna play up to 2500 grains, and then go do something else. I'm up to 2000 already. Finding it hard to stay at level 44, though... I keep getting kicked back to 43, 42, 41...

Oh, heck, I stopped at 3000.
sweetbutinsane
Wow, this is fun!

I've donated 3550 grains of rice so far, and learned some new words! smile.gif
Jubei
Just done a 1000 grains. Averaging about level 41-42, max at 44. They get pretty obscure at that level, and I don't think they're entirely English, or in modern usage.
sweetbutinsane
I found Grow Cube the other day. It's a cute little game where you have to click on the panels in a specific order to get each one to progress to the maximum level and therefore complete the game.

Also, as it's that time of year, here's a festive version: Grow Ornament

I have no idea what's going on, but it's fun, and has a cute soundtrack!

How can a game that makes no sense be so addictive? Must...look...away...
empathy-with-beast
The sense of achievement when you get it right is staggering.
Jubei
I confess, i had to cheat, I had two pieces the wrong way round, the fire and the tube. I love the little C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S, its actually almost worth the time I've spent finessing the order.
empathy-with-beast
An even harder one.

There's still only 8 things, I will endeavour to do it now.

6 out of 8 maxed, haven't been able to make the wood do anything yet though. I think maybe the bunson burner neeeds to be the last thing?
empathy-with-beast
That is correct. If you get the wood in the right position in relation to the pick axe things get going.

Done it now, the wood comes much earlier than I thought. And that whole aspect had been lost on me because the earthquake kept knocking the stack over before. Also, did you know there's a special Congratu - alien - s ending. I had to look it up because there isn;t a lot of logic to it. Instead of reaching max level, you reach alien level. ALIEN UP!

The other one had some logic to it, that was just the theft of six hours of my life...I thought I was gettin really close but actually I had to rely on aliens to fix everything and there was a massive red herring with the potions
