Not so much for your World Of Warcrafts and City Of Heroes'. I was thinking more like these-

A neat little flickr based picture rotating game.

An annoyingly addictive and deceptively hard tower defence game

For the more power hungry among you- free online Risk

and last from me for the moment-

A neat little human cannonball game.

so, what do you play online to avoid being productive?

Im finding myself currently addicted to Word Mojo over at GRAB

I also used to head over to LAZY LACES and GAMERSHOOD for all my puzzle/adventure/point and click games!

This is a great idea for a thread. I can see it growing but unfortunatly I don't know of any games.
Raven
Behold Travian - The Destroyer of Time.

This is actually a quite good, but deceptive, game.

Initially you can play only spending the odd few minutes a day on it, but as your villages grow, and you create more of them, it becomes an increasingly demanding beast.

Play it at your peril!

I love YDKJ! I've still got a couple of the old DOS titles kicking around here, somewhere, but, unfortunately, they crash my system.

3rd World Farmer is an utterly depressing game, but its good to see how far you can get.

Triachnid is a really well made game putting you in charge of a 'triachnid' (three legged spider type creature) you have to navigate to the end of each area using your fancy footwork and web-spinning skill all the while protecting your young.

I love some of those old MS-Dos games too, if anyone knows where I can get a copy of Discworld II 'Missing Presumed...' (for the PC) I'd love to hear from you.

There are always copies kicking around on ebay at fairly reasonable prices. Lucky for me I've still got both the Discworld games in their original packaging eh? wink.gif

Damn you Kei! I've been playing Tower Defence for three days! How does anyone get a score of 6000?

I've just been playing for an hour or so.

Must.

Stop.

After this game . . .

The key is to use low-level cheap towers to funnel them into big, elaborate death traps with heavily powered up towers. If you click on a name on the high-score table it shows you the layout they used to get that score.
empathy-with-beast
I've managed in the low 3000's what are your scores? Do you sell stuff? I cant see the point and I'm also relying on building a five tower crosshair of maxed out pellet and squirters and eschewing the other weapons, am I totally wrong?

This was the method I used. I funnelled the enemies off to the side so that they would then have to change direction when they had gotten through the trap, meaning that the towers would hit them as they went down, and again when they came back up. It only really worked on easy, but it gave me a score in the 3000, when before I hadn't gooten above 2000.
NiteFall
I found that funnelling both entrances to the top left corner, slowing them as they get there with frost towers, then setting up a killzone there with a tunnel leading off from there to the top right corner to repeat, then to the middle with lined avenues to the two exits. The earthquake towers can be very handy when upgraded a bit, especially on the group stages and the rocket towers have an insane damage and range when upgraded all the way.
Jumpin Jack Flash
It's a fantastic game but does anybody experiance slow-down when they play it?
Jubei
On easy I built a zig zag mostly of pellet towers with a few squirt towers and a frost tower on the way in to slow them down. Then I had one rocket tower in the middle to deal with flying enemies quickly. After I got some pellet towers maxxed and some squirt towers maxed they didn't really have a chance. Although by the end I completed level 50 with 1 life remaining. I'm not sure what my score was though.

I don't know how it would work on medium though.
Raven
I simply made a maze, using pellet towers, that was so long nothing really made it past the middle of the screen.

The key is to slow the creeps down and to concentrate your firepower along the centre of the screen to take care of the flying units.

I think the only thing that got through was the flying boss near the end.

I didn't think to make a note of my score, but I think it was about 3,500.
Jubei
Those pellet towers are beasts when you get the level up a bit - and when you turn them into sniper towers, although the squirt towers are quite devastating when you get them maxxed but they're expensive.
Raven
I just got 4401 (on Easy).

If you hit the Send The Next Wave button the time remaining on the clock is added to your score (I didn't realise this until half way through so you can probably get a lot more than I did!).

Added to that, any gold you have is converted to points at the end of the game - so there's not a lot of point beefing up towers right at the end.

Except for the bloody boss that breaks into pieces right near the end, almost all of that got through my defences. And the 'Send next wave' would be good for points, as I rarely would have suffered if they came a bit quicker.

He only got about 75% of the way through my defences! (the only one that got through was the flying boss near the end).

Lone Level 3 rocket tower kicked his flying ass! Seriously, one rocket tower moderately upgraded will sort all your flying creep killing needs.

3634 on medium! A personal best!

OK, Tower Defense is too addicting.

Has anyone beat it on medium difficulty? If so, got any tips to help me out?

Yes. The way I did it was to start funnelling the enemy into the left hand corner by placing the pellet turrets along the entrances, thus forcing them into killzones. However, I realised after a few attempts that this left me weak against the flying enemies, so the first thing you should do is set up two squirt cannons in the middle and upgrade them both. This will give you powerful enough weapons to deal with the early enemies whilst you build up a killzone in the corner (mine consisted of about 5 squirt guns which I upgraded every few levels). After that, just keep building pellet turrets and funnel the enemies into more killzones. Just make sure that you upgrade your turrets regularly. Once you have a couple of 5-Level Squirt towers, it'll be a walkover since they'll be able to hit the enemies over and over as they work their way through the maze.
UnderSpaced
Hmmm. That sounds almost exactly what I do, except for the squirt towers. That might be where I'm failing at.

5043, completed game on medium tower defence. I used the zig zag method where you put diagonal lines across the board and force them through single openings at alternate ends of the lines with two or three maxed out squirts in each line and a single maxed out missile launcher just off the centre.

Annoyingly Family Fortunes is hosted by that irritating northern bugger and not Les.

Catchphrase seems alright though (if you can tolerate the repetetive voice samples).
