Arnie to appear in 'Terminator 4' - well, sorta . . .
Although 3 was a jolly ole romp, I'm not sure about this at all . . . Still, if Claire Danes is in it again . . .

So number 4 is going to be about the beginning of the war against the machines I take it?
It could be interesting, but I always found that only getting brief glimpses of the war throughout the first two films worked very effectively. Plus T3 was poo.
Who's playing John Connor?, I heard they were going to recast the role (again)

It really wasn't - it was mainly crap, with a spectacular set-piece in the middle.

The ending was quite good, basically once Arnie was gone the film was watchable.
I did laugh when Arnie was shooting up all those police cars with an emormous gun whilst holding a coffin with one hand

It was the set piece that made the film for me, the sheer wanton destruction was excellent (I wouldn't - in any way - class it as being a great film though).

I've got to jump on the T3 bashing bandwagon here. For the most part it was a retreading of scenes and setups from the previous films which is where it fell down in my book. It took the tongue in cheek element from T2 and ramped it up to the point where it was camp, Arnies entrance being the most obvious example of this. A step too far into silly territory as far as I'm concerned. And shoe horning in the psychiatrist character for the sake of referencing his role in the first two movies was a step too far, his reason for appearing in T3 is superfluous at best.
This might be tosh, but I'm sure I read somewhere about The Rock playing the next Terminator. Am I making this up or was there ever any news linking him to the role?

The only reason I bought the DVD was so I could watch that bit again. Well, that and the fact that I had the first two films so I had to complete the set. And it was only £3. The last two there are also the reasons I own AvP...

T4 - it could all end in tears, they should leave it well alone now but if they insist on doing a 4th then they have to have Cameron do it otherwise it wont work for me. Arnie has lost all sense of what it was to be the Terminator in the last film, making the machine too nice. I did like the idea of the female Terminator, it brought a good slant to it but I felt let down by the film as a whole what with enjoying the tremendous action and suspense carried on from Cameron's first two outings.
I am looking forward to seeing Avatar from Cameron rather than seeing another Terminator film directed by a lesser known individual.

There is no need for him to really be in the film anyways, surely the next step would be to do the big ass future war and that won't need Arnie, since he only has to look human when he goes to the past and in the war the Terminators don't have skin.
The opening to T2 is cool as hell, I hope it is ALL like that ACTION WOW

Well, no. In the first Terminator film Reese explains that the Terminators are infiltration units-
"The 600 series had rubber skin. We spotted them easy, but these are new. They look human - sweat, bad breath, everything. Very hard to spot."
Face it, they'd be piss-poor infiltration units if they were just huge metal skeletons.

Indeed, the human form terminators are used as infiltration units and the aforementioned endoskeleton terminators are used for open warfare like we see at the beginning of T2.
I'd imagine that the previous footage they're intending to use of Arnie will have something to do with sending him back through time after being reprogrammed.
Will they show Skynet though? I don't know if that would be a good idea.

The 3D Terminator thingy at Universal studios has Skynet in it, from what I remember - It's a big pyramid or something. I wish I could remember where my silver Cyberdyne systems mug went, because it's a long way to go for a replacement.
Edit : From

In the Universal Studios theme park attraction T2 3-D: Battle Across Time, based on Terminator 2, a T-800 machine and a young John Connor journey into the post-apocalyptic future and attempt to destroy Skynet's 'system core'. This core is housed inside an enormous, metallic-silver pyramidical structure, and guarded by the 'T-1000000', a colossal liquid metal shapeshifter more reminiscent of a spider than a human being.

They kind of showed SkyNet in the Terminator 2: 3-D ride at Universal Studios. Been hankering for future war stuff after all the little snippets in the films, so regardless how it turns out, there will still be robots and guns.

Also one of the T2 special edition dvd releases had something by way of a Skynet look and feel to it in the second disks menu - I have the damn thing somewhere but I remember it had a very machine look to it - I cant remember now if that was my imported region 1 or not but it had a flyover of the machine's inner sanctum

Fair enough. I do wonder if they'll use that design though, given how it's not quite cemented in the main continuity of the films. We'll see I guess, it's far from being a concern, unlike how bad it could potentially be.

The Rock as a Terminator? I cant see it myself, I prefer someone unknown - I did like how Cameron cast Robert Patrick in T2, completely convincing and proves you dont have to be a bulk of a man to be a deadly killing machine - a fantastic part which was done brilliantly

Was there not some stuff in the special features on the T2 2-disk edition which had a load of the concept art for Skynet for the unfilmed scenes with future John Connor sending everyone back in time?

I didn't think T3 was that bad actually. My main problem with it was just that the T-X wasn't really all that impressive, when compared to the T1000, it seemed like a step backwards. When it comes to scarily unstoppable baddies I think Robert Patrick's terminator set the bar too high that it couldn't be beaten.
Although saying that, Kristanna Loken is very damn hot.

I'm just talking all out warfare, which is what the next film should be, or it'd just be tedious stuff we have seen before.

It really could go either way. I can see the lack of Arnie as a good thing, because presumably this is going to be before his model rolled out, and so we'll just see the skeletal ones and some other guy being an infiltration unit (like in the first one, with the glowing eyes and stuff).
I'm sure it'll be ruined though.

T3 was okay. It fitted into all the comic adaptations that came out around that time. It wasn't flawed and quite entertaining, even if the script was a best of off the first two movies. I really liked Daines and Nick Stahl was the best imaginable John Connor, I think. Arnie was quite shite in the movie, but I can live with a digital version of him.
The ending was quite nice and i could live with another part if the script could be a little more original.
The only real problem I had with the movie was, that there were no boobs.

I like 3 more than 2. The lack of an annoying snot nosed yank whinger ordering Arnie around made all the difference.
That, and Claire Danes. She so luverly.
It's nice that the Terminator arranged for such a smashing lady for John Connor to shag whilst the fallout dies down.
That's good programming.

I really enjoyed T3. I went in with mid-level expectations and came away pleasantly surprised. The tongue-in-cheek nature of it was pitched just right and Nick Stahl was very good. Once they got to Cyberdyne the film lost it's way a bit but that was made up for by the ''screw you, Kyle Reese'' ending.

So we can look forward to another 3 Terminator films, which walks a fine line of being fresh and exciting addition to the franchise or killing it altogether which I believed happened when they released Terminator 3. I doubt Robert Patrick will do another one which would be a shame cause he was the ultimate Terminator in my eyes.
Guess we shall have to wait and see what Bale can do with the role, saying that, he is the best Batman after all the others imo.

True but then again coming out of a bar dressed like a member of the Village People, twice, does nothing for killing machine credibility. I was looking forward to number 3 but it was overblown. I hope that number 4 does the story better justice and not ruin it like the Alien series when they released Ressurrection.

For as long as I've known of Terminator I've wanted there to be a film actually set in the time of John Connor's prime, and with Christian Bale doing it, we can at least hope. Now, if someone could just organise McG to meet with some accident and get someone completely leftfield like Steven Soderbergh to take the helm, this could be marvellous.
