It was very much just "okay".
curtinparloe
So in terms of animation, HD=really really busy sprawling visuals that are pretty much unwatchable.

See, I still like the simpson's new episodes, It's just not the show it once was. The most recent series has been better than the previous few years though.

The film was okay.

My favourite was season 6, mainly for the australia episode though. The first time I saw the Koala at the end of the episode, I couldn't stop laughing. Best episode ever. "I see you've played Knifey-Spoony before!"

I should get that season on DVD actually.

Me!

Those look great on my sexy sexy iPhone. It's about time they updated the credits. I hate old Simpsons animation - series one is unwatchable. It looks like I drew it.

QUOTE (Zoe @ Feb 15 2009, 02:40 PM) *
I watch it because I find it funny.

And me!

Season 1 does look terrible, but not as bad as it could have looked if they hadn't got into a massive row with Klasky Csupo over how they were drawing the series. They've never released the raw footage of the original animation for The Babysitter Bandit episode but apparently it was horrible.
Omniscia
I don't think I've genuinely laughed out loud at a new episode of The Simpsons in at least nine years. Sure, I've grinned a few times, and maybe chuckled once or twice...

Lately, it seems like it exists only so they can complete their mission of having every celebrity in existence do a guest voice-over.

There's a version with even worse animation?!! I can't even comprehend such horror.

I physically don't think I could sit through any of the early episodes again, especially 'Kamp Krusty' (excluding Millhouse's "can we call you Uncle Blacky?" line).

EDIT: Turn to Sky 1 right now - oh the horror.
maian
No Sky, I'm afraid. Which episode is it?

I like Martin's line ''Gruel! Sweet, nourishing gruel!''

I totally guessed the channel number and got it right.
No seriously, I am impressed that I did that.
Only now I'm going to have to switch back to any channel other than this because, as you say, early Simpsons hurt the brain.
Simpsons Roasting on an Open fire, too.
Zoe
'Life on the Fast Lane'

*shudders*

I've put 'Come Dine with Me' back on.
PrincessKate
I like the line about Brunch.

I just watched the Bobo episode, that was ok.
Zoe

Yeah, they have their moments, but the tone's too moralistic and the animation is practically unwatchable. It's not that it's dated it's just so ugly.
PrincessKate
No question, I feel bad avoiding early episodes but they're mostly unwatchable.

This new title sequence is unwatchable too, but in a different way. It looks like there's too much going on.
sweetbutinsane
I think I still like The Simpsons. However, I haven't watched any new episodes over the last couple of years though (it's on at the same time that I'm on the internet) so I'm not sure about that.

I'm not too keen on those new opening credits though.
gulfcoast_highwayman
It's Homie The Clown at 8pm on Sky One, a stone cold classic from the glory days.
Atara
The problem for me is I have seen the 'classic' episodes of The Simpsons so many times that all enjoyment has been sucked out of them.

The epsiode with Homer's hallucinogenic chili pepper moment is still one of the absolute best. Particularly the Flanders multi-tache diddly doodly diddly doodly bit.

"I'm lucky I didn't brain my damage."

And it's got Johnny Cash as a Space Coyote.
Jimmay
Not sure about the song but this music video is pretty interesting, and hurts my brain.

Anyone who is making such a claim & uses the term 'loads and loads' is either lying or 14... & lying.

Maybe some women like how long he puts cutlery in his mouth for...personally it makes me feel sick.

I wasn't sure which one was Gregg Wallace so google imaged him to be sure and it came up with a semi-naked picture of Gary Rhodes which also made me gag...I hate and fear that man.

Now that will get you on Masterchef.

I've noticed yet another actor who had some credibility has joined the Emmerdale cast. As well as recogniseable faces from the 70's and 80's - 70's heart throb Patrick Mower, Madge from Neighbours, a woman from the Liver Birds, Lorraine "luton Airport" Chase - they have also had the likes of Avenger Linda Thorsen and David Lynch regular Freddie Jones. They now have Nick Roeg and Ken Russell fave Amanda Donohoe.

Forget Lost, Emmerdale is the real show set in purgatory.

What do other people think about this:

I disagree with a lot of it, I think. The one that gets me most is Alien 3 - that film is great.
Omniscia
I don't like it. How can you judge the Jaws "trilogy" and leave off one of Michael Caine's best films?

There are way too many series that have gone well beyond three films on that list, and, in the case of Star Trek, the third film ends on a bit of a cliffhanger; there's insufficient resolution to call it the final chapter of a trilogy.
NiteFall
Why do people rate Terminator 2 so highly? Having watched it again in the cold hard light of not the 90s it's fucking dire. Especially the bits with Edward Furlong trying to teach Arnie how to be more human.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of giving things scores and relations to each-other anyway.

To me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this, the "Star Trek trilogy" is II, III and IV.

I'm right there with you. Great big soulless fire-work display of a film. Stunning effects, but empty.

I like part three.

And the trilogy meter is completely wrong about Superman as well. The first film is easily the best.

Alien 3 is indeed a great film. Temple of Doom is pants. Star Wars is so overrated.

Agree with Joe and Sostie as well, Aliens 3 is great.
Sir_Robin_the_brave
T2 is brilliant and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.

Superman 3 should be higher. I know at least one foum member will agree.

I don't think any of us will argue about the Matrix trilogy scores though.

I disagree with the Godfather scores. Part Three is not as good as either of the proceeding parts but it's not completely terrible.

Superman is better than Superman 2, though. And I think that Terminator is better than Terminator 2 but I have no particular antipathy towards the latter.
