I'd think he was a bit well, critical, fo that soft soap of a show.

Barry Norman was pretty critical of the films he reveiwed, before he went to Sky and Ross took over.

They did say it was only a short term absence though right? I didn't dream that I hope, it's my favourite podcast.
Also isn't Adam in a new series called The Persuasionists or something?

Yeah may only be short term, Danny Wallace doing Saturdays temporarily and said he's "There for January while Adam and Joe take a break".

The award-winning pair, who present the Saturday morning Adam and Joe Show, are going on indefinite leave because of other work commitments. Cornish, who worked on the screenplay of Steven Spielberg's new movie, the Adventures of Tintin, is about to direct a film.

They've said on their show that they will be back at some point, but who knows when. I hope they come back. I miss the show already. sad.gif

Danny Wallace doing Saturdays

I don't like him.
Zoe
I'd go a bit further than that

Possibly as far as physical violence

I'll hold his arms back. Go for the kidneys. I don't like him even more after watching the extremely laboured "Yes Man" the other day.
Zoe
I didn't mind it, except when he cameoed and I got up and punched through my telly screen.
Raven
What's wrong with Danny Wallace?
Zoe
Ask Dave Gorman. No really, he fucking hates him.

I just find him very annoying.
NiteFall
Does he? That's interesting.
Raven
Didn't Danny used to be Dave's sidekick, as it were? I'm sure he used to help out on Gorman's early TV shows . . .
logger
He was the flatmate that would dare Dave into hilarious stunts. I had no idea they had fallen out.
beatoswald
Dave Gorman should of killed him when he had the chance.
Downsy
He pissed me off with his random acts of kindness stunt. I joined up expecting it to be a nice idea to make the world that little bit nicer, but no, it was a means to make Danny money off a book deal. If he was hanging off a bridge, I'm not 100% I'd help him out as its probably research for a new book.
Everlong
I had no idea Dave Gorman hates him, what happened there then?

Never looked at it like that, but then 'Join me' bored me. Only really enjoyed Yes Man and Friends Like These. Was looking forward to his next one out this year, but people are starting to put me off him now, ha.

Danny Wallace doing The Saturdays

The git.
Sir_Robin_the_brave
The internet says that Dave used to date Danny's wife (before they were married obviously)

I don't know if that is what caused the fallout though.
Ade
Well, his smarmy annoyingness aside, I particularly enjoyed 'Join Me', and the RAOK movement it spawned (at the very least, the ethos behind it). And 'Yes Man'. I loved that.
Outatime
Looks like she was Dave's girlfriend during the Important Astrology Experiment tv series.

Coen Bros remaking True Grit Still only in pre-production but it's got me a little excited. Jeff Bridges wouldn't have been my first thought for Rooster Cogburn but I trust the Coens (kind of).

Oh I don't know, I can see him doing a good job of the role.

Guardian's top 50 tv dramas The Sopranos at number 1, what intelligent people. No GBH, maybe not that smart then. Shameless at number 49, oh, they're fucking morons.

I do wish I'd given Mad Men more of a chance. I watched the first two episodes and got a bit sick of them laying the 'weren't they all stupid and sexist back in the olden days' schtick on pretty thick.
Raven
Band of Brothers should be higher.

Definetely

Miramax RIP
gulfcoast_highwayman
Shame about Miramax. They made some great films.

Oddly, the thing I'll remember them most for is Shannon Doherty saying 'Fucking Miramax!' in 'Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back'.
dandan
i'll remember them most for buying and suppressing films which deserved to get released. also for re-editing and re-scoring other films...

Watchmen 2?

Ha that guy sounds pissed off. A pissed off purist.

If it was well written and all that, I wouldn't mind a try of it, but admittedly I'm really not sure about a prequel to it.

Minutemen stories whether in one book or in different volumes isn't the worst idea ever, but I do think Watchmen should stay as it is. A lot of the enjoyment of reading Watchmen came from learning the story via their memories and flashbacks.

I'm agreeing with the guy who wrote that article, albeit in a less angry way.

After having watched Piers Morgan's recent ITV documentary thing about Shanghai, it reminded me of this documentary/concert film:

Jean Michel Jarre: The China Concerts (Part 1 of 9)

It documents Jarre's invitation as the very first Western musician (even though Wham! have always seemed to get the credit for that particular accolade, despite the fact they didin't perform there until 1984) to perform in the People's Republic of China, (a series of five concerts in Peking and Shanghai in October 1981), through the planning stages to the actual concerts themselves. While the use of laser effects on stage was pioneering stuff at the time, it does look dated now, but it still remains for me one of the most fascinating creative points in Jarre's career.

As a retrospective it makes for interesting viewing, being part documentary, part concert film, and shows China at a point in time where it had just begun opening itself up to the Western world. Certainly a very different China from the one we know today. Originally broadcast on the BBC, circa 1982.

I figured it might be an interesting curio for anyone else inclined to take a gander at it.

Pontypool radio play As I watched this last night I thought it could be a good radio play. I'm only just listening to it now so I don't know if it's any good. I would suggest watching the film first though.

40 minutes in now and it's not as good as the film. The problem is that the audio has been taken straight from the film, so it was obviously intended for a different medium. Also it has been cut down to an hour so the timing is off.
