While I still don't understand the point of all this, Garfield is an excellent actor (see also Boy A), and at least suggests they are taking this seriously rather than just going for pretty-boy heart-throbs or flavour of the week starlets. But still...why now and why so soon?

I've only just found out that Twitter favourite Shit My Dad Says is now a book, and has been so for the past couple of months.

Are they still making a film of that with William Shatner as the dad, or was that just an internet joke?

It's a TV series starring Shatner. It was, apparently, called "Shat My Dad Says" at one point, but now it's being called "S**t My Dad Says", or words to that effect.
