This news this morning said something like "If the world were ruled by mothers, there'd be no goddamned wars in the first place."

"Goddamned", that's it? Not "No fucking wars"? Aww.

Gidget still rules, tho.

There's an actor's strike looming in Hollywood and a lot of studios are fast-tracking projects to get them made before June, the proposed start of the strike. Empire's website has an analysis of some of the more interesting projects being rushed through, as well as a link to the full list.

Balls.

That's going to make casting for our feature a bit harder.

Rebirth for 'To the Manor Born'.

Looks like the Beeb are running out of ideas, expect an announcement on the Brush Strokes Christmas Special soon . . .

Oh dear.

I wonder who they hell they'll get to do Penelope Keith's role?

And is it wrong of me to slightly fancy her?

I read it that it was a one-off(?) special, so I'm guessing Keith will be in it.

But sweet.

US Success as Bionic Woman Debuts

Michelle Ryan's Bionic Woman Branded a Flop

I think the BBC like Michelle Ryan...

Or maybe the Mail hate her...

It's hard to say.
Raven
She probably turned down an interview or something.

Good to see it has done well, given the remakes that are dying on their feet (Hello Flash Gordon!) this could easily have followed suit.
Shack
That's two Daily Mail stories we've had on here in the last 24 hours, and both from the fair hand of Zoe.

I wonder if she's turning into Lynda Lee Potter.
Zoe
Their showbiz section is updated a lot more regularly than any of the other newspaper websites and has lots more shiny pictures and celebrity dirt than the likes of the BBC.

OK...?

I don't care if I'm shallow.

I found this news item there.

And in a blatant bid for compete for the same viewers, ITV bosses reportedly plan to air two more episodes on Sunday evening, one of which runs alongside Strictly's new extended results show for 50 minutes.

Wow! That's outrageous! Two different TV channels trying to win a ratings war? Unheard of!

I also found this bit funny:
QUOTE
A source said: "X Factor can play their dirty tricks, but in the end it's the viewer who will lose out as they will have to miss one of the shows, or set their videos.

"We have a terrific line-up and know our audience is loyal to us.

"We refuse to lower ourselves to ITV's level with a slanging match. Our ratings will speak for themselves."

My parents got the Mail and the Times regularly when I was growing up. She was regular figure of fun for her crackers viewpoints. I have a feeling she might be dead.

My parents paper buying habit also explains why I am a filthy racist.
Zoe
I know who she is really, because there's a character based on her in Jonathan Coe's 'What a Carve Up'.

My parents literary tastes, Guardian reading and lefty socialism explain my filthy intellectual snobbery and revolting air of righteous superiority.
Jessopjessopjessop
My Dad used to buy the Mail, but he didn't read it.

Maybe that explains my general liberalism, tainted only with shocking homophobia.

It'll only work if they can get William Daniels to do the voice.

Can't see Hasslehoff coming back, though.

My mum got the Telegraph for the crossword. I got Twinkle. The annuals were especially good as were the summer specials. Usually a lovely poster of a pony or kitten, seashell making jewelry tips and stories about doll's hospitals. The best thing ever when aged 6.

Movie Connections on BBC tonight is about Lock, Stock.... From the reviews it seems it will be focussing more on Trudie Styler & Guy Ritchie, rather than the unlikely rise of JS. Boo!

Even for me I think I have achieved a large Stath/Post ratio over the last few days.

Sky's ITV stake 'restricts competition'.

I'm quite pleased that's been found to be the case, hopefully Sky will be forced to sell their shares now.
Raven
Given how bad series eight was, I don't suppose it's any great loss, but BBC rejects new 'Red Dwarf' series.
Omniscia
I hope someday to read the same about The Simpsons, but Fox will never not renew that.

If only they'd stopped Red Dwarf after Series 6...

Two more threads on the pulling of TV-Links: Cops pull plugs on TV-links, claim 'facilitation of infringement' and TV-Links man was arrested under trademark laws.

Nice one Dan. Learnt a couple of things there..

1. I was unaware of, and sure I haven't seen, either of the alternate endings

2. There are three films based on the source material. Going to have to dig out Horror Express and give it a watch.

It is a funny one and one of the betterclassic horrors of that era. Lee and Cushing on the Trans-Siberian Express. And Telly Savalas as a mad Cossack. Cheesy fun and really quite gory. It was the type of film on late at night on BBC1 around 1986 - i think I saw it first then.

I have a fondness for all the old Hammer, Amicus and Tigon films so I would like this gubbins.

I do recall seeing some of it when I was young (anytime Kojak was in a film it stuck in my mind!), but it was before I saw The Thing. Knowing now they were based on the same story I think I'm going to see if I can find a copy at lunchtime.
