It's because it's a Star Wars Special of the Show. They have Darth Vader as the banker. Isn't that reason enough? And how does Deal or No Deal work in America? We don't have 26 scantily clad models, or voting to pick the next one. Do we? Maybe I should watch it more often.

We get Noel.

Not meaning to be shallow, but I would probably watch it more if it did. I find the huggy-feely "Good luck mate!" format of the UK show to be off-putting.

In fact the whole of Season 3 is themed, each episode is apparently themed around the contestant. Lucky Star Wars fans I say...

That's part of it's problem nowadays. Ever fucker that goes on it has to have some kind of sob story which doubles as not only their reason for going on the show, but also their reason for bottling it at an early stage.

I was able to sneak a peek by lifting up the bottom without actually removing it. It's basically the same.

The BBC has made a pilot episode of a British version of the series, with Sheridan Smith in the lead role of Samantha, Tom Price as Darrin Stevens and veteran actress Frances de la Tour as Endora, they are currently in talks for a whole series which it hopes to be a ratings hit.
They're remaking 'Bewitched' with the star of 'Two Pints' and the writer of 'My Hero'?

It was bizarre, as the episode I saw was pretty much word for word the same script as it's American counterparts. But where the latter raised the occasional smile ,or dare I say it giggle, the British version was one the unfunniest things I've ever seen.

The original's ace, I'm an unashamed fan. I guess it's just simply the fact that even though the US and UK are culturally similar in some respects, in many we're far, far apart.
Zoe

It just didn't work.
I felt because it was exactly the same scripts (with a few cultural alterations) delivered by a less talented cast, on cheaper looking sets.
It was an oddity.
Like an am-dram village hall version of the original.
The 'Bewitched' pilot sounds like it's been substancially updated and modified. It's still peculiar though.

This is more interesting because of the speed with which the media seemed to jump on it, but there's recently been rumours reported that
production on 'The Lovely Bones' was halted as Peter Jackson and the head of the film's art department argued over the version of heaven to be featured in the film. Apparently this has all been overblown, but it seems that some media outlets do seem to want to portray the film as a troubled production, what with the Ryan Gosling leaving the film days before filming started and (as reported above) Susan Sarandon's choice comments about her role.
Still, it's been delayed until Fall next year, which is either a good thing (if you want a film to win an Oscar, release it after September) or a bad thing (oh, it's been delayed, must have problems) depending on who's reporting it.

I saw it, any entertainment value was utterly ruined by Ant's faux ignorance.
