what is this so-called Nu Rave? I'm slightly confused by this sub-genre.

seen "The Klaxons" making some indie guitar dirge on More4 or whatever....rubbish...what does this have to do with actual rave music, or is the name-tag a coincidence? Is it like there's some other kind of type of 'rave' I missed out on?

it's just 'klaxons' actually.

...and only really because the night the NME turned up to see them someone happened to be selling light sticks outside.

Though it has less bands but has lasted longer than the NME's RoMo "movement"

Nu-rave is an NME created term which was initially applied to Klaxons (before they turned around and said ''that's bollocks, we're not nu-rave) and is applied to bands including Shitdisco, Enter Shikari and Hadouken!

It has almost nothing to do with actual rave music, apart from the fact that Klaxons used some rave chord progressions on their early singles and the fact that people who attend the gigs tend to have glowsticks. Which, as we all know, is all that rave music is actually about.

fair enough. I hate the NME. I used to buy it every week, then I realised Melody Maker ws a lot better, then that went bust so I didnt buy anything. never heard of RoMo, but I remember something like the 'New Romantic' movement or whatever. Queercore! that was one. punk done by lesbians, there was some band called Huggy Bear I think. okay enough wittering...

*Klaxons

RoMo was the new New Romantic "movement"

I believe the whole Queencore thing was called Riot Grrrrl. Included the likes of Huggy Bear, Hole, Voodoo Queens etc.

And who can forget the New Wave Of British New Wave!!! These Animal Men, S*M*A*S*H etc.

haha, I remember it...always thought Animals That Swim was a bad name (not to drag up the 'bad names' theme again). where are those bands now? probably lawyers or binmen somewhere.
