Now that the last Loop has ended, a new one will be started soon.
This post is to announce the next Loop, but not to take "applicants". This gives the oppurtunity for all those that are interested in joining the Loop, advanced notice. Also, it should give people a chance to consider, before joining the Loop, whether they are prepared to make the commitment of not just creating a CD, but posting promptly and reviewing others' CDs.
A thread will be opened in two weeks time on the afternoon of Monday 20th August. Members can then post their interest to join the Loop. There will be 8 places and all will be allocated on a first-come-first served basis.
For those not famliar with the Tape Loop, it works something like this.
A list of the 8 participants will be created - it is up to each participant to PM their address details to the member before them on the list.
On creation of the Loop you will have a period of time to create a compilation CD, with artwork if you wish (approx 2 weeks). There are no limits to the number of tracks on the CD, but please keep it to one CD only.
Your CD should be posted to the member that follows you on the list. A date of posting will be given
You should forward the other member's CDs you recieve every two weeks after that (dates will be given).
The two weeks between posting should give you enough time to listen to the CDs you recieve, as well as review them in an allocated thread.
The Loop ends when all CDs have been reviewed by all participating members.
This Loop is open only to UK residents only.
Remember - please do no not join the Loop unless you are prepared to listen, review and post other members CDs within the allotted times.
Good luck.

We are now taking "applicants" for the next Loop. If you wish to participate post your interest here.
8 spaces available, but a possibility of a second Loop in tandem if interest exceeds expectation.
Before considering joining the Loop please read the 1st post in this thread.

A Question from the Curious: I've got no idea how this works, does the music have to be from a set style, or can it be anything?

Yesterday my internet stopped working for an hour or so and I got really worried that I wouldn't be able to get a place in the loop in time. Seems rather silly in hindsight.

Yeah, I was expecting all the places to have been snapped up by now. It's Wednesday morning and there's 2 spots still untaken.

To be honest Adam I think it would be better if the Loop consisted of people that can almost guarantee reviews. But thanks anyway.

I personally think next Friday is a bit too soon. Mid-September would be better since I've yet to think of a title, cover design or a final tracklist. Expecting all that to be done in a week is a bit much.

We'll finalise the date tomorrow, give others a chance to voice their opinions/suggestions.

Just my opinion, but a Friday seems a non-sensical day to post on. If you post first class then it just sits in the sorting office over the two days of the weekend before arriving on the Monday rendering the cost a bit much. But if you post second class it's pot luck what day it'll arrive after the weekend. It should either be the day before (Thursday) - when it's sure to arrive by the weekend whatever class you post it, or a couple of days later on the Monday.

You have two weeks though, is it that much of a problem?
Wife Of Rolex
Aug 24 2007, 12:39 AM
Mmm, only in that people will possibly get the cds on different days meaning some don't have them for the same amount of time as others before the next post out. With the last loop I always made sure that everyone had the cds for at least 14 whole days before posting on.
Unless things are different for this one.

The first posting date of the last Loop was 1 week after the list was finalised!
Right now we are finalising how long people would feel they need to do the CD...suggestions have been made, a concensous will be reached.
If you feel a Friday posting is no good, that will be taken into consideration.

I was just thinking of the first post out going into the second. The time to put a cd together and the artwork is fine.

Advanced notice of when nominations were going to be taken was posted at the beginning of the thread, and it did take a couple of days for all the slots to fill - we can't help it if you fancy being a Luddite for a week!

14th is a bit long away, isn't it? Plus, I will be changing address around then (university term-time and all that), so the 7th may be a better bet of catching me in one location, then subsequent mail-outs can head to my uni pad.

Sush now, you embarrass yourself!
