Do we have any idea how it'l be set? Sitcom, drama, mystery, murder? Although I'm assuming simons character will be called Paul.

And it will be a comedy. There's an interview here that talks about the road trip they took in preparation before the writing began.

Not to doubt their acting careers, but I can't see Simon or Nick doing a role that has no comedy in it at all.

Well, the fact that he's got three other films in development might be reason #1. Or reasons 1 through 3, perhaps.

I've read he'll be involved as an executive producer/script editor. Being the director of any film involves an incredible amount of work, time and effort so I think Edgar deserves a little bit of a break after the last 3 years.

I heard an interview they did here in LA during the hot fuzz junket and I remember Nick observing that everything in America is covered in chipotle sauce. I snickered at that ... because he's right. If the movie is based even remotely on those kinds of observations ... that could be *really* funny.

The boys are charming and I think they have a real fondness for America in the same way a writer like Bill Bryson has a fondness for the UK. His books are heartwarming and brutally funny. Yes, he makes fun of the British, but not in a mean-spirited way at all. You can tell he loves the country and the people, but points out their eccentricities from an outsider's eye view. Simon and Nick, I think have that same sensibility.

Borat was hard to watch ... but he stumbled on some real examples of ugly Americans, and he ran with it. However there was very little to temper it. It was like he didn't meet ANYONE who showed what was good about this country (except maybe the driving instructor). Or it would start out like the people were good and they'd end up showing a shockingly ugly side.

I can't see simon and nick making that kind of movie.

I DO like Edgar's directing.....
