I've been re-watching series 4 on the Beeb 3 repeats over the last couple of weeks, and although I missed the start I caught the end of Midnight again on Tuesday - it really is an extraordinary piece of acting from both Tennant and Lesley Sharp.

They were introduced to each other by Douglas Adams, the bastard.
I've still got my autographed pictured of Lalla. The Doctor could do with a companion like her now. Someone who is his equal (at least). River Song could be good, if we ever get to her.

I've only seen two stories with her in, in recent years, and although she is cute, I can't really say I can see what all the fuss is about either. From what I have seen I would say that Mary Tamm's Romana was a better match for the Doctor, until they started watering down her character.

Sje was more challenging, that's for sure. Romana II seemed to stand there, look pretty, and occasionally bantered.
Personally, I think they should have kept Leela around. The Doctor's attempts to civilise her were always good to watch.

After re-watching the two-part finalé again last night, I think I will be buying this at some point.
It's funny, because I haven't rewatched it, but I have just been thinking about how much the final two episodes have tainted this era of Doctor Who for me. I know not everyone liked Rose as much as I did, and thought she was too much the focus of the series, but I did feel there was something rather poetic about her being locked away from him forever. It was tragic, and SF, fitted with the series' theme of loneliness and was somewhat tempered by the fact she got her Mum and her Dad and a new sibling to share it with. I was excited about her coming back, but the final denouement was so bad, it now serves to leave a bad taste in my mouth every time I think about the Doctor and Rose (that might also be my infected throat). The rest of it was just stupid nonsense, but the horrible repeat of the beach scene, complete with inappropriate snogging, really has sullied the whole Tennant/Piper partnership for me; and that had been my favourite part of Davies' reign.
Moffat is going to have to go a long way to cheer me up, especially after the companion free specials which, if the Kylie debacle is anything to go by, are sure to be shite.

I agree, bringing Rose back was a mistake that only really served to cut the legs out from under the excellent ending of Doomsday.
What purpose does she serve other than to have all of Davis's creations on screen at the same time?! And the Doctor Two resolution to her story was a complete cop out.
It's not just off the back of the final two episodes that I will be buying this series, however, having watched it through again over the last few weeks I did find myself enjoying large parts of it, and I think that is largely due to how well Tennant and Tate play off each other.
Tate really was very good in that last episode, and I never thought I would be typing that when she was announced for the Runaway Bride a few years back . . .
The end of her Doctor Who story was really rather moving and beautifully performed.
Which probably means they'll bring her back in two years, 'unwipe' her memory, and have her get off with David Tennant.

Their quote not mine, on hindsight I couldve worded it better myself. Did you notice that Radio Times readers voted Who as the show they wanted a movie out of?
Im not sure if it would work or not, would the dynamic be lost if it was budgeted for a Hollywood style makeover which you know would happen.

I'd quite like to see Tennant in a movie version, but I think they would have to do it whilst he is still the Doctor on TV, otherwise it won't be fair to his replacement.
Also, you just know it will end up featuring the Daleks, and I don’t know if I can be arsed with that.

I've not been hugely impressed with Staite in Stargate, she seems to channelling Kaylee too much. I think they made a mistake in having her character being unsure of herself when she came in, she should have been sure and confident from the start to banish any Firefly comparisons.

I'm not saying other Who hasn't been worse (add Timelash to the list for example), but one thing I would point out is that the TV Movie had a much larger budget than
Warriors... and it was also made over a decade later when the special effects should have been, well, a little more special. Making the Doctor half human and the way they handled the Master were both just plain wrong. Granted, Paul McCann was very good, but he was pretty much the only thing that was.

On a slightly related note, I bought this month's Doctor Who magazine, for the first time in about three years, and there is a well written comic strip where Donna gets to thank the Doctor for everything, in a fashion.

It'd have to be the cartoon version of Jay, personality-wise, as they couldn't have him swearing all the time etc.
