I like how after traumatising a generation of kids and making them all terrified of statues Moffat decided to build on that and make them scared of their TVs as well.

There's no need for spoiler tags for anything that's already aired in the UK.

I enjoyed this week's, but a lot is going to hang on next week's conclusion. Amy was ace again, if she's not careful she'll replace Billie as my hero.

What was with The Streets video at the start?

Yeah I didn't quite get that either. Hopefully be revealed in the next one?

Didn't distract me from Mr Smith being epic though

It pulled me right out of the moment.

The Beeb (and others) have had so many complaints about this sort of thing over the years you would have thought they would have figured this out by now.

If you want to complain, and many have, go here: BBC Complaints.
gulfcoast_highwayman
I'm convinced it was an error. It didn't appear in Scotland or Wales apparantly, or on HD. Why would they just show it in the English Beeb regions?

Still, it unleashed a shit storm on DS. Points Of View is going to be funny next week ( ithink they record it on Fridays, so it won;t make this weeks).

Given the wording of the advert, I'd be surpirsed if it was.
Zoe
Glad I was out and saw it on catch-up now. No Norton for me.

It was annoying but doubt I'll complain. Wouldn't have been so bad if it was just small text ad at the bottom but having Norton popping up in front of Smith was stupid.

Luckily it didn't distract me but I still thought 'WTF?' afterwards.

Didn't we hear Norton over Who before? Sound editing issue, it was over another show anyway.

That was on 'Rose', when he was doing 'Dance Fever', or whatever the hell it was called.

You are right. Seeing it again, the only error might have been in not showing it in Wales & Scotland.

See "The Idiot's Lantern", Series 2.

It's news!

Doctor Who fans angered by trailer for Over the Rainbow.

I bloody loved that episode. I was worried that the Weeping Angels wouldn't be as scary the second time around, but if anything they were much, much creepier. The whole sequence with the recording was like Ringu for Saturday Night TV. I hope the second half is just as good.

Ah, thought it was Who.

The first episode of the revival too, silly BBC.

Back to 2010..

Brooker slams BBC for Norton ad.

Few news stories about this now..

Wonder if Moffat's reaction is out there.. I imagine he and Smith are pretty pissed off.
Baz
It's on the Beeb web site now here.

I'd be surprised if they do the same thing next week.
Shack
I enjoyed Saturday's episode very much, although I missed the mini-Norton because I was watching on the i-Player.

I liked how I recognised the beach scene from the early photos of the MS and KG on set.
Bloomeeney
The whole Mini-Norton thing did piss me off a bit - I thought 'Oh my god, this is not America - we know what is coming next!'. I reckon Matt should have told him to 'F*ck Off', like Stewie on 'Family Guy'.

That said, it was a bloody good episode, lots of tension and scariness. Looking forward to part two now.
Sostie
Loved this week's episode. Much better than last week's. Mike Skinner cameo was odd.
monkeyman
Still don't know what that whole bit was about though.

Also, where the Doctor does a Johnny 5 and speed reads the weeping angel book in a few seconds, has he always been able to do that? Or was he just messing about? I'm pretty certain he actually read it though because he references it later.

By bit do you mean having him in the scene or what the scene was about?

The Ninth Doctor did it in 'Rose', and I'm pretty sure the Fourth Doctor did it at some point, too.
Everlong
He hasn't yet got the "My Stepmother is an alien" L33T skill of not having to even open the book to read it though!

What the scene was about.
Wife Of Rolex
Conversely, to the whole Norton crashing the end of Doctor Who, there was a Dalek cartoon trailer at the end of Total Wipeout which, when I saw it, looked kind of cool. But then, the end of Total Wipeout doesn't hinge on a dramatic cliffhanger with a big speech from The Doctor at that very moment.

I'm sure the Mike Skinner cameo will be cleared up in the 2nd part on Saturday. If not...eh?
Everlong
I think it's just a little scene to get it started, to give River Song a bit of an entrance.

"She's here...."

He was drugged by River Song's "hallucinogenic lipstick". The fact it was Mike Skinner is unlikely to have nay bearing at all on the story.
Starscream`s Ghost
I just saw it as him trying to break into acting.

Ah fair enough. Is that something she uses in a previous episode or did I miss something obvious in this one?

Well he had a big lipstick smudge on his face, and one of the people that discovered him said she must have used hallucinogenic lipstick (although seeing that she was wearing it why didn't she go loopy?).

I'm still surprised no one has thought that if you wink alternately with each eye you can look at the Angels longer without the need to blink.
maian
She could have something underneath the lipstick to protect her from the effects, like how Robin wears bits of plastic over his lips so Poison Ivy can't kill him in Batman & Robin.

I can't believe I just used Batman & Robin to make a point. I feel unclean.

Ah I missed the bit about hallucinogenic lipstick, I was boiling the kettle.

And Amy winked alternatively so the angel couldn't move in the little trailer thing she was in!

Amy tried to do that in Saturday's episode when the Doctor told her not to blink when watching the screen

ETA - glad I wasn't the only one that noticed that...
maian
I really liked that bit. It was a nice little nod to the sort of questions that people have no doubt been asking Moffat ever since Blink aired, and it was a nice shot of humour into an unbearably tense scene.

Well I thought "at last someone is doing it", but then I'm pretty sure she only closed one eye once and didn't alternate.

Re: winking over blinking: it's still not easy to do, you really have to concentrate!
NiteFall
That's the thing though- as soon as you think about not blinking you find that you really need to. Or is that just me?
m0r1arty
"You let him call you sir, you never let people call you that" - How do you know that Miss Pond?

Plus I'm sure there was plenty of soon-to-be fan in-references to River Song (She looked older and didn't know she was/had been a professor? + is/was some sort of prisoner??)

I liked there being a Bishop and Virgil in the cleric/military team nice nod to Aliens and The Abyss.

Good episode all round bar the annoying Norton cartoon for the most faggy show possible flashing up at the climax.

Looking forward to next week and the possibility that the Doctor must run with a mirror in front of him to escape a weeping angel (just guessing from the coming up section after the first episode).

That looked pretty funny, it has to be this episode coming or Vampires, whenever that is (they showed a scene with a mirror and the hot vampire ladies on Jonathan Ross).

I did.

I'm finally caught up on all the episodes - I think the series is very strong so far. Gutted to have missed Matt when he was in NY, hope they come back again!

I just watched the Angels ep and I'm totally creeped out. They really are a brilliant and terrifying invention.
Everlong
Spoilerish stuff for episode in a couple of weeks.

Doesn't give any secrets away, but it looks like a weird episode.
Atara
So... The angels were rather different to the original ones, right?

In regard to the above article Is River Song the Doctor and Amys daughter...

I'm rather curious about how this series is going to pan out. Intrigue

RE your spoilered text, could well be! Not ruling anything out this season!

As for tonight's episode, that was amazing. The relationship between the doctor and amy, and later the doctor and Octavian. Especially Smith's acting with the later.

Most interesting though, who did River kill then? No prizes for guessing? laugh.gif

Interesting, the date this 'pandorica' thing supposedly opens appears to be a Saturday, that may well be the last episodes (yeah, I looked at a calendar like a nerd tongue.gif ). Dunno what episode number it would be though.

Probably! Flippin' songs!

I just had a quick look at world cup fixtures and there's a couple of Round of 16 games that day, so Doctor Who probably isn't on that Saturday I bet, unless ITV have those matches.
Zoe
I was a bit disappointed by this double bill. Unquestionably Moffat's weakest story, and not just because of the kissing. He also seemed to be massively contradicting himself as the Angels were totally different enemies (they killed people for a start).

I guess it can't be 'The Girl in the Fireplace' and 'Blink' when you're running the whole show week on week... but why?

Not terrible, just not great.
mousespider
Am I the only one who finds Amy less likable after desperately trying to fuck the Doc the night before her wedding?
