Kick in the Head
Nice that the Doctor had a Rose screensaver on his computer.

Also, if those 'geniuses' at Rattigan's were so smart, they wouldn't be wearing red romper suits like a bunch of kids doing PE.
Zoe
I thought it was awful.

If I see Helen Raynor in the street, I'm going to punch her.

I just watched an episode of MI High on the CBBC channel that revolved around 'nano nits' and 'personality downloading'. Embarrassingly it reminded me of certain types of Doctor Who episodes. I kept expecting David Tennant to bound into frame.

Evil sat nav? Jesus.
widowspider
I thought it was a really fun episode - the relationship with Bernard Cribbens and Catherine Tate is one of the best in the whole series, I think. VERY excited to see what happens next week with gymnast-girl.

Im just looking more to the Moffat stories, whilst I like the series so far, there really hasnt been a stand out episode for me yet but Im sure its coming and its looking as if the latter half of this season is going to  be better than the first half again.

Same here, the episodes have all been ok for me so far but none have really stood out.
Next weeks looks good, was that Chris from Skins that the Doctors Daughter was kissing in the trailer?

Yeah, much worse than shop dummies, armchairs, evil school teachers, yeti, evil mobile phone systems, evil bluetooth, and so on...wink.gif

Though admittedly the MacGuffin was a bit shit, this time.
Raven
As I said before, I'm not really sure why I liked this episode, the story is riddled with plot holes, clichés and implausible get outs (like telling the sat nav to drive into the river, how does that work? It wasn't doing the opposite of what the driver wanted, it was obeying a set command!), but at the same time this all seemed to wash over me for once.

I suspect it got away with it because it didn't rise to the "Human Dalek" levels of absurdity Raynor's last story did - although burning the atmosphere did come dangerously close to that!
Svein
I just think it was entertaining telly!
Zoe
Sometimes people need a punch, I make no apologies.

It's not her fault, so much as the people who are comissioning writers who can't write SF to write for SF shows.

This lack of culpability doesn't mean she'd escape a punching though. My rage is violent and unfairly administered.

I will concede that evil sat nav isn't as naff as an evil wheelie bin, or trinny and susannah-bots; but that's not saying much.
Raven
I don't know about others, but both of the Raynor stories seem to have a "Davis Lite" feel to them, to me.
Starscream`s Ghost
I know what you mean. Here's hoping next week's effort is better. It promises to be interesting, if nothing else.
NiteFall
I'm just waiting for next weeks episode to cause the Outpost Gallifrey boards to disintegrate in a cloud of infuriated fanboy anger.
Starscream`s Ghost
It will do if her last name turns out to be 'Tyler'.

Actually, I bet it does. And now I've gavomited. wink.gif

I've read the review for next week's episode in Time Out. They weren't very impressed. It seems the explanaition of how he has adaughter is she is created by some sort of cloning machine or something .

Yes! I must remember to check them out after the episode!

That thought has passed though my mind as well!

In other news, I finally got around to watching Timelash last night, and after all the bad reviews and comments I'd heard about it over the years, I didn't think it was actually that bad.

Okay, so it wasn't brilliant on any level, and some of it was pretty ham-fisted, but it wasn't any worse than Revelation of the Daleks.

Actually, reading it again she is created when the Doc is put in a "reproductive machine" . I wonder if it is like those machines that milk cows!

Oo! Not reading this!

I read that not 20 minutes ago in TV Times.

But he may have been milked by a machine
Zoe
He's over 900 years old! I'm sure there has been some time lady lovin' in his past, though being the last of your species must put a bit of a dampener on your love life.

His hand in a jar went all bubbly as they were pulled off course. So I presume she's been created from his DNA, they wouldn't have bothered cutting to it if it was unrelated. The show isn't renouned for its subtlety.

I'd like to volunteer for Doctor milking.
Sostie
The Doctor famously has two hearts. I wonder if he has any other physical "abnormalities" (other than size). Namely in the pants region.

I reckon it looks small but feels bigger on the inside.

Even if he has, it wouldn't lead to a daughter; Time Lords as a race are sterile.
Zoe
I wish I could say that hadn't crossed my mind before.

Strangely only in the past few years though...
Starscream`s Ghost
Never mind.

Irrelevant to the point I was making. I was only stating that he has probably 'knobbed' people, just not recently.

Wow, no birth control on Gallifrey. I bet it's party central.

Yeah, it certainly looked it on 'Arc of Infinity'. Not.

I think their collars are far too high for rumpy-pumpy.
Zoe
It was really more of a gag than a hypothesis.

We should get off this whole subject. I'm starting to feel like Brodie Bruce.

The Fantastic Four. Reed Richards. Can his whole body stretch? ...I mean every part?

*Ahem

The sterile thing was something mentioned in the non-cannon story Lungbarrow which was pretty much blown out of the water contunuity wise by 'The Last of Time Lords' in the last series as it showed Time Lords as children (according to Lungbarrow Time Lords are 'born' as adults).

I could be wrong though!
Starscream`s Ghost
Actually, Time Lords could still be sterile - the series said that the children were ordinary Gallifreyans, rather than Time Lords. Seeing as Time Lords are genetically modified (specifically to give them the symbiotic nuclei to allow time travel), this could render them sterile.

I've probably got that wrong, but it ties in nicely.

So Timelords are like Castratos in the 18th Century.

Though, presumedly still with balls.

It's almost as if it's all fictional and they're making it up as they go along...

[Catherine Tate]The dirty, perverted, Gallifreyan bastards![/Catherine Tate]
NiteFall
I enjoyed that.

That shall be all.
gulfcoast_highwayman
Davison's daughter is lovely.

I wonder if she'd mind me making Tardis noises whilst we make love?
princess_shrek
I enjoyed. It pressed lots of the buttons that make me feel happy.
Starscream`s Ghost
It felt like a Davison episode, actually. Not perfect, but it was good.

Next week's looks great.
NiteFall
Everyone involved seems to have picked out next weeks as a highlight in the various interviews I've read. Which is a good sign. I'm hoping.
tigerlily
I disliked it quite a lot. Was it a set up for another spin off show?

I disliked Jenny quite a lot too although was envious that she was 'born' wearing eyeliner. And rubber trousers. Why were none of the other soldiers in rubber? Why was it the only the pretty blonde? Maybe I wasn't the target demographic.

I didn't mind Freema last year but she proved fairly weak next to Catherine Tate.

Anyway, it's a dip in the series so far for me, but I'm quite excited about next week's. I own pretty much everything Agatha Christie ever wrote so it's a little convergance of my geekdom.

I think that it's more likely that Jenny will be the next companion, at least in one of the specials next year.

I thought the episode was alright. Jenny grew on me as a character at the same pace she grew on the doctor. But on the whole, it was slightly better than mediocre.
Zoe
OK, fair enough that you can make a clone, or one parented child or whatever, in less than a minute; but even suspending belief to the highest degree, do we really believe that progeny would have half-head highlights, lots of eyeliner and a stylish ensemble? Who put her bra and pants on?

Regardless, an enjoyable episode. The fish-face foes were fun, and Davison Jnr was a delight. I hope she pops up again.

It was yet more proof for me that Martha is a lost cause. Her getting Captain Fishface killed, really grated. I did wonder (and the hardcore Who fans might be able to help me here), is she the only assistant to 'resign'?

No. Actually most companions choose to leave on their own. Only ones I can think of that didn't were Susan, Zoe, Jaime, Sarah Jane, and Adric. However, there are probably others.
Zoe
I'm not a 'Who' nut. I pretty much watched it as a kid (McCoy and Baker II) and then now, as a grown up.

I've filled in the gaps somewhat over the years, and massively enjoyed what I've seen; but my main experience of assistants is them being left somewhere.

Martha and Bonnie fucking Langford are the only ones I've ever wanted to punch in the face.
