Watched it with my mum who's an avid Agatha Christie fan. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. She started playing bingo with Christie booktitles - a lot of fun.

And yes, that book really DOES have a wasp on the front cover.

It gives me hope for the Tin Tin films. They've never really managed to do a decent Asterix film, perhaps it's just too cartoony, but this news, and Speilberg's involvement give me hope for everyone's favourite boy detective.

Excellent news, both for the Doctor and Tintin. I'm genuinely excited about that film now.

Great news for Who, getting rid of RTD and getting Moffat in the driving seat....couldve done with that at the start but all good things to those who wait.

That lassie got exterminated, and no cunt leaves here till we find out what cunt did it.

That's a bit unfair, as much as I haven't been keen on a lot of the concepts RTD has introduced, he did help bring Who in from the wilderness, and fought for that when a lot of people didn't.

Perhaps he shouldn't have taken on a lot of the writing himself, as producing and script editing as well as writing might have lessened the quality of some of his stories (Last of the Time Lords, I'm looking at you here).

I hope he still writes for Who occasionally, because we may get another Utopia out of him, and that can only be good for the programme.

I think I'd make a GREAT doctor... But I've never been asked, funnily enough!

Scanning through the thread I misread some posts as RTD will be directing Tin Tin. Now that would make a certain section of its fanbase happy.

New-Who couldn't be in better hands - I wanted Moffat to take over the reigns.

His only saving grace was to bring back Who, out of the one or two good episodes there was a lot of shite though. All he had to do was hand over the reigns a bit more on the writing side and I may of been nicer to him. I am hoping he has treated the last few episodes of this series with that magical touch where Rose's return is concerned...Im just hoping its not a load of fanwank again.

If the title of the 'Top Secret' episode is correct, then I see problems already, as Skaro no longer exists (it was destroyed by the Hand of Omega in Remembrance of the Daleks, unless, it's a parallel universe Skaro, which is why Rose seems to be trying to warn the Doctor. It would also explain Davros, if indeed he's coming back into the Whoniverse.

Good to hear that Moffat is taking over the reigns, I just hope that he can maintain the quality of his individual episodes of a whole series (or is he taking over for the specials? I've lost track at this point). I know he's been in charge of shows before but those were ones where he was writing everything himself all the time; running a show with a large writing staff could be tricky. Regardless, I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Good news on Tin Tin, too. I'd already read that he was writing the screenplay but it's good to know he's actually finished it. I just hope it's good.

Moffat is taking over from the start of season five in 2010, so we still have the tail end of this series, two Christmas specials and two stand alone specials under Davis's command to sit through yet.

That's quite good then since it's unlikely that his Tintin duties will interfere too much with the show, depending on whether or not Spielberg and Jackson will be making them at the same time or one after the other.

Just finished watching The Curse of Fenric which I bought today.

Such a shame they finished the 'old' Who when they did. I think they were on the cusp of some really spectacular stories.

A jolly good story, did you watch the TV version or the extended version on disk 2?



I'm not 100% sure about that, but it is odd how many parallels you can draw between the final two seasons of McCoy's era and New Who.

I watched the extended version, I'll have to watch the older version for comparison, but I loved the score, it seemed less tinny than I remember it.



I was thinking that very same thing, especially Human Nature/Family of Blood. I would now like to see that filmed again, with Seven instead of Ten (as it was in the book anyway).

It also made me think that the BBC were pillocks for showing the stories of that last season out of order - Fenric should have been the first story of that series, not the penultimate one - Ace's comment about the 'scary' house in Perivale would have had more weight if Fenric had been shown before 'Ghost Light'.

I would have to agree with you there. I thought they had some fantastic stories and McCoy was really beginning to "own" the role. I was mortified when they took it off the air...

However, what a final speech for the end of a show...

I still think they could bring McCoy back for an episode. He hasn't aged that much and would be cool to see the professor back in action again, maybe fight a giant Haribo monster this time.

Gonna bump my own post as the last few instalment of the strip are worth reading even if you can't be arsed with the rest. The Grace Holloway/Romana scene is comedy gold.

May 24th will see the 'whats to come in the second half of Who' trailer.
