There's going to be a special preview screening of this on Saturday 15th March at 20:45 at the NFT1. Following the screening they hope to welcome members of the cast and crew to answer questions.
SEE HERE for more details.
Well I went to see that (only £2 tickets!). I missed the very start so I might have missed an intro from cast and/or crew, but there wasn't a Q+A or anything afterwards, so I don't know. But onto the film.
I've got a proper review of it
here, but suffice to say, I really enjoyed it. Just like Be Kind Rewind, it's far more about friendships and the people than the movie parody itself (though of course those bits are hilarious). The performances from both young leads were wonderful and it really creates an accurate portrayal of pre-adolescent hood, warts and all, that reminded me a lot of The Goonies - the casual cussing, the sense of indestructibility - and really evoked the school experience from boring Geography teachers to the exoticism of French exchange students. Highly recommended for both adults and kids alike - they're sure to get a kick out of it in equal measure.
Oh, and for the Spaced contingent, Jess is on fine form, and you can't really miss Edgar -
his cameo as the Metal Work Teacher reminded me of his role as the techie on Look Around You. Oh, and a yay for Adam Buxton too. Just as I've been able to brag about living around where Hot Fuzz was filmed, now it turns out that Son of Rambow was filmed around my friend's hometown and at his old school, so he gets bragging rights now.
