Watch out for Edgar's 5 second appearance in the film when you see it too!

I love the way Garth and Edgar make cameos in each other's films. For those of you not aware, Garth appeared in Shaun and Hot Fuzz. Edgar appeared in Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy and now Son of Rambow too.

This is another to add to my "looking forward to" list.

There's going to be a special preview screening of this on Saturday 15th March at 20:45 at the NFT1. Following the screening they hope to welcome members of the cast and crew to answer questions.

Well I went to see that (only £2 tickets!). I missed the very start so I might have missed an intro from cast and/or crew, but there wasn't a Q+A or anything afterwards, so I don't know. But onto the film.

I've got a proper review of it here, but suffice to say, I really enjoyed it. Just like Be Kind Rewind, it's far more about friendships and the people than the movie parody itself (though of course those bits are hilarious). The performances from both young leads were wonderful and it really creates an accurate portrayal of pre-adolescent hood, warts and all, that reminded me a lot of The Goonies - the casual cussing, the sense of indestructibility - and really evoked the school experience from boring Geography teachers to the exoticism of French exchange students. Highly recommended for both adults and kids alike - they're sure to get a kick out of it in equal measure.

Oh, and for the Spaced contingent, Jess is on fine form, and you can't really miss Edgar - his cameo as the Metal Work Teacher reminded me of his role as the techie on Look Around You. Oh, and a yay for Adam Buxton too. Just as I've been able to brag about living around where Hot Fuzz was filmed, now it turns out that Son of Rambow was filmed around my friend's hometown and at his old school, so he gets bragging rights now.

I've got my tickets booked for Exeter. It's the first time I've ever come across screenings actually taking place in Exeter. Hurray!

All gone for Cambridge I think it's a member's screening so they probably got notified first.

Saw this on Sunday, and it was really enjoyable. Jess was good as the Plymouth Brethren single mum. 'Le Wolf' was hilarious. And it even had me choked up at the end, although I maintain that that was because I was so tired...! I'd say, this film was skill!

For fans in the United States, Son of Rambow is playing at The Florida Film Festival in Orlando Florida tonight, Thursday April 3rd at 7:00pm at the Enzian theater and again on Sunday April 6th at 4:30pm at the Regal Cinema.

I'm going to try and catch one of the screenings.

Saw Son of Rambow last night. A nicely simple and light-hearted film with the two boys giving great performances. More of a kids type film than I was expecting. It seemed curiously old-fashioned too. As if filmed in the eighties. Maybe this was down to the mild language?

Jess was great and showed once again the range she's got. Always available for a dose of the Buxtonator. And I spotted Wrighty!

Rather languorously edited and thought maybe it could have had a few cuts here and there but I enjoyed it a lot.

Loads of nostalgia for this child-of-the-eighties.

As Sarah mentioned a few posts back, we're only just getting the cinema release here in Australia at the end of this month, at one of our 2 main cinema chains (& early next month in the other main cinema chain)! *sigh* We're almost always an after-thought down here.

We're currently running a Son of Rambow promotion at the moment, not that there are many Brisbanites on here but if you listen to 4BC you can win a double pass to go see it.

We saw the movie & we all loved it! Our group was laughing the most & the loudest.

Here's our little vlog from dinner afterwards. Not much about the film itself, & we had crap lighting & sound, but it was a great night....
