Kick in the Head

My attentions have today been drawn towards
Muxtape, a new website in which you can upload up to 12 songs and create an online mixtape for everyone to listen to. You simply click the track you want to play, press left or right to skip between them and enter/return to pause. Simple, clever, lovely. I'm going to try and make a lovely Japanese mix this weekend and I'll post the link then.
Graham Linehan done one I'm listening to now, and it sounds great. A good way to explore various musical tastes.

I likes it too.
Is it not afflicted by copyrights and things, though?

It's not strictly legit, but it's not not legal, I guess.
You are indeed uploading music for other people, but you can't download the tracks, you're limited to just 12 tracks and you're not allowed more than one from the same artist/album. Well, I'm enjoying using it until it gets shut down I guess.
Here's my muxtape -
tokyosoundscape.
It's a taster of some of my favourite Japanese bands, mixing punk, rock, electro, dance, and general weirdness, starting off rather manic and getting more chilled towards the end. For some reason, only one track registered with a playtime, but everything else works.

Anyone know how I might convert wma. files to mp3s? Otherwise I'm a bit stuck to upload any tracks.

Good selections, guys!
I think the reason mine didn't show with a proper playtime is because of the MP3 conversion program. But what the hey! I've registered another account with a different email to make a non-Japanese muxtape which I'll get devising soon.

Oh, pshaw!
I'd just be paid to type words into Google and pretend I found it myself...hey, that's not a bad idea!
One of the great benefits of Muxtape is just randomly clicking on other people's Muxtapes and giving anything a listen. I stumbled on
this one filled with 50s and 60s Japanese mambo, boogie-woogie and comedy songs. Genius.

Some really great playlists on there, so many bands I've never even heard of.
I'm going to give that site a good listen to tonight.

I hope the rest of the choices aren't too offensive to one's musical palate.

Lovely stuff, Ade (I think I even liked it a teeny bit more than your Tape Loop Tape)!
Here's another non-Japanese one I did:
beat.
A couple from my Tape Loop Tape, a few that didn't make it, a few classics, a few new tunes, a few film scores - all rather jaunty or melancholy really (not really many beats at all quite frankly). Still, gizza listen, eh?

This is rather fun, here's one I've knocked together.
Twelve EyesIt's not as varied as I usually try to make my compilations but I just felt like sticking a bunch of songs I liked together.

Will give it a listen now.
Why are you only allowed one muxtape? I've already changed mine because it had two Aphex Twin tracks on and I didn't want to get into trouble. See if you can find the new track robot fans.

I think he used different email addresses.
I'm not really that bothered, I just noticed it in the terms and I'm afraid of anything happening to my awesome muxtape.

Yeah, I did do two. I'm sure it's just to keep people from uploading endless amounts of music. I just wanted a Japanese mix for the purposes of my radio show, and then another mix for general listening.
Just listened to Maian's, which I liked it muchly with some good choices (esp. Talking Heads and Eels). Will try and listen to a few more tomorrow (handy having the favourites option really...).
Just now giving Maian's a spin - I'm not much of a Costello fan, but that's a great kickstarter to the mix. Two of my fave Talking Heads and Lambchop tracks too - great stuff, Ed!

Possibibbly. Try refreshing the page, or skip to the main site address then skip back - I find that often works if it doesn't wanna play ball. Glad you've enjoyed what you've heard thus far, at least.

Aw, I was just about to go on there as well.
Well, it's back. At least, with a long explanation for its absence, a brief history, and its plans for the future.
Oh, and a 5-track playlist for an outfit called
Francis and the Lights, who sound pretty cool. 80s retro chilled electro pop funk kinda cool. I like.
