I've seen a UK release date for 27 November, don't know how accurate that is though.
maian
That seems in line with the rest of the European release dates.

Have you seen the trailers, Ed?

It looks terrible.

I've seen a few but the word-of-mouth and reviews make me think that there's something to the film that the trailers can't convey.

I hope so. It's hard to tell me I'm about to see the trailer for the most frightening film I'll ever see and then show me absolutely nothing that's remotely scary.
logger
Pretty much every review I've read has had the words 'scariest film of the last ten years'. Although thinking about it, that wouldn't be that difficult.

Agreed. Though films like Hostel have a certain charm to them, they aren't actually scary films, which is my whole problem with the ''torture porn'' trend of the decade. Something genuinely creepy would make a great change.
Kick in the Head
That is very true. I'd classify a properly scary film as one that really gets under your skin and doesn't leave you for days, not just one that makes you jump when the loud noises happen. On a personal level, the scariest films I've seen in recent years were REC and Eden Lake. Before that it was Ringu and Audition. Though nothing has ever shit me up as much as seeing Ghostwatch as a child.
maian
The same here. It's an interesting conincidence that you should mention Don't Look Now in the Last Film You Watched thread, since that film, to me, represents what a great horror film should be about; atmosphere. There's not a lot of huge scares in Don't Look Now, but it builds such a creepy, unbroken atmosphere of paranoia and weirdness that it gets under the skin in a real and profound way. Or at least it does for me.

It's Mother Seddons!

Same here - proper shitted up. More than the time this blackbird jumped out the bushes next to me and Astrid. smile.gif

I've never trusted Parky since. He and Craig Charles really sell it.

Expendables trailer

Can't decide if my favourite line is, "This shit's getting old" or "Bring it, Happy Feet".
Starscream`s Ghost
Mine's He said "We're dead", with an accent.
Kick in the Head
Is it just me or does that not look a teeny bit shit? I want to like it, but I smell another Snakes on a Plane.

Then again, I seem to be the only one on teh internets to be unimpressed with the Toy Story 3 trailer. I'm sure it'll be great and all, but flamenco Buzz Lightyear? Potatoheads reassembling again? Not funny. Let's hope Kristen Schaal gets something interesting to do.

It's never going to be as good as it looks on paper. But it still looks loud and dumb enough to be a must-see.

The Road

Did You Hear About the Morgans? - now I like Hugh Grant, but this doesn't look too promising. His line to the bear made me laugh though.

Tooth Fairy. I remember Arnie being lined up for this for a long time. Now we have The Rock! Julie Andrews!! Stephen Merchant!!!

Seeing The Road on Friday. A verdict will no doubt follow forthwith!

I liked your incremental exclamation marks re: Tooth Fairy mirroring my exact reactions watching the trailer.

The Expendables marks quite possibly the first time I've watched a trailer and thought 'That looks shit' at the same time as 'That looks fucking awesome!'. I honestly don't know how to feel about it, other than to say that I will probably be there on opening night to see on which side it falls.
Sostie
On face value the most un-PC release of the year?

I say face value mainly because it stars Mat Fraser - recognisable not just acting appearances on TV, but also numerous appearances on TV supporting the rights of the disabled.

Thurman: 'Kill Bill 3 will be awesome'

Uma Thurman has revealed that Quentin Tarantino has an "awesome" idea for the plotline of the third Kill Bill film.

Not to do it?

The cast of Cemetary Junction is making me very very happy.

Ricky Gervais
Julia Davis
Ralph Fiennes
Emily Watson
Matthew Goode
Christian Cooke
Matt Holness
Burn Gorman
Anne Reid

Not only the star of ITV2's flagship drama 'Trinity', but also Ralph Fiennes. Ralph Fiennes and Emily Watson playing husband and wife no less - which will be like 'Red Dragon' having a happy ending!

I saw Emma Watson when I read that. Who wouldn't want to see that Nazi from Schindler's List do Hermione Granger?

First look at The A-Team

That's something about Neeson as Hannibal that I find really off-putting. He just looks odd to me.

Having spotted the link to the article about Clint Eastwood's Invinctus, I have to say that the casting of Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela made me grin a wry grin.

Is it because he sleepwalks through every role? He has none of the charisma I would expect from the character - but it all depends on what tone they are going for. I can't get used to Bradley Cooper playing good guys either, and I'm not sure he's chiselled-handsome enough to compete with Dirk Benedict.

I dunno, Darkman's quite a charismatic son of a gun. Sort of.

Michael Collins? Priest in Gangs of New York? Kinsey? He's the only barable thing in Kingdom of Heaven. Oscar Schindler? Really?

I haven't seen any of those films except Schindler's so I stand by my ignorant belief. I like Darkman though.

He's no George Peppard.
Sir_Robin_the_brave
Apart from being the world's most boring Jedi, I can't think of a role when he has let me down.

Darkman is fun.

I don't know, I reckon Obi Wan is actually slightly more boring. At least Qui-Gon Jinn has a character flaw.

He most certainly is not. He looks like a sleazy twat. Where was Ryan Reynolds?

Doc Savage!

I hope it has the same large slice of cheese that the 80's version had!

Apparently it's more serious than the Series and done like The Bourne films etc.

Neeson supposedly got the role after he impressed the makers with 'Taken'.

Baracus appears to be missing his bling.
