I read a review somewhere which said something similar, and also that Mr Sutherland is retardedly hot.

Saw a trailer for this tonight. It looks like pretty much the usual horror bobbins but I shall be watching purely for the Sutherland factor.

Ooh, my friend was showing me that trailer a couple of weeks back. It looks pretty creepy.

Trailer for Harvey Milk biopic starring Sean Penn and Josh Brolin hits.

Wow. For the first time in some time, I'm thoroughly stoked for a Gus Van Sant film.

And did I spot Victor Garber playing Mayor Moscone?! Heh, great casting.

With all this gothic/horror stuff he does (& I include the creatures of Pan's Labyrinth in that catagory), I hope he doesn't take it too far in The Hobbit. wacko.gif

That does look rather good. It's been years since a Van Sant film has piqued my interest (for anyone interested, the last one was Elephant, which I liked a lot) and this looks very promising.

As does the trailer for The Soloist directed by Joe Wright and starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx. The story sounds interesting and Wright has a very good hit rate, and Downey Jr., well, he's a bit good.

Jon Ronson's "Men Who Stare At Goats" gets Heslov and a whopper cast.

And may make a brilliant Ronson double bill with Edgar's version of "Them" one day.

Trailer for 'Changeling'

Jolie's doing a bit too much SHOUTY ACTING in that trailer but the critical response so far has been very strong and Eastwood's track record of late has been very good, if terribly downbeat.

Looks good to me. It does seem somewhat blatantly ripped-off from Shaun, but it'll lean more to the horror side of things judging by that trailer.

eta: Shaun meets Grindhouse, I'd say. Lazy descriptive, I know.

Yeah, that's one of those stories that has had me scratching my head for months. I mean, the first wasn't particularly special, and there's not much more they can do with the story. The only thing that seems to be pushing it forward is the fact that it's been one of the most profitable Pixar films in terms of merchandising.

In more interesting news, Spielberg to direct an adaptation of John Wyndham's ''Chocky'' It's a good few years away, but could be good.

I'm just glad it's got a release at all. It looked for a while there like it'd be considered just too damn odd for anyone to distribute it. What I've heard has certainly made me want to see it all the more, though.

Now, if only someone would say for certain what's happening with Steven Soderbergh's Che.

Spielberg is the wrong person to adapt this.

Think about his pedigree - ET, AI, War of the Worlds etc, can you imagine how cloyingly sentimental he will make this?

I recently finished reading the book, and whilst it has a good central idea, it's a very thin story otherwise and very much of it's time. I don't think there are many who would argue for a period adaptation of this, because it has dated badly, but at the same time I don't want to see a Hollywood-American translation of it either.

I very much like the look of the bicycle sequence, and the whole 'death bracelet linked to car' aspect could be fun (especially when someone drives off without him towards the end). But I still haven't seen number two...I thought the first one was rather boring...

BUT! I will rectify that maintenant.

Seen it on stage three times in London and it was fantasic. I am looking forward to seeing it again on film. Especially if Sheen wears his silk boxers in this version too.

According to the release schedule we have at work it's out on my birthday. As a result I choose to believe that The Stath himself chose that date for its release just as the most awesome birthday present ever for me.

Gran Torino Trailer

Despite the obvious silliness of Clint Eastwood, a 78 year old man, beating the crap out of people a third of his age, this could be good. It's a nice play on his Dirty Harry character.
