QUOTE
Simon Pegg has signed a seven-figure publishing deal to write three books.
Under the contract with Hodder & Stoughton, the comedian will release a title each autumn for the next three years. The first, due out in 2009, will be his autobiography, tracing his career from his first-ever stand up gig, through Spaced, Sean Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz, ending with his role as Scotty in the forthcoming Star Trek film.
Although details of the subsequent two books are being kept secret, trade magazine The Bookseller said they would also be non-fiction.
Publisher Ben Dunn struck the deal for worldwide rights with Pegg's agent Dawn Sedgwick. He said: ‘Simon is absolutely the most talented person in the whole wide world. He is an extremely engaging and funny writer and I can't wait to start working with him.’
He added that Pegg’s transatlantic success helped secure the deal. ‘Pegg writes for us, but somehow the films appeal to America too,’ he said. ‘He is our biggest export – I don't think there is any British actor of his ilk that has been so successful.’

Surely one of the other two books will be a Spaced book.
That one's been on the card for a few years.

At least he will have a bit more to write about than Wayne Rooney and Gareth Gates!

I think you're right. I'm looking forward to finding out what the other two are for certain, though.
I suppose you all noticed the wrong spelling of Shaun (Sean).
Just thought I'd say...

I would love to see a Spaced book but if you read the release again it does say the other two books will also be non-fiction

There was talk a few years ago about a Spaced script book (see the FAQs!), which is what I think people above are refering to.
My guess is that would be something seperate from what has been agreed by Simon above, as it would also require the co-operation of Jessica and Edgar(?) - who knows?!

I really hope the third book is some kind of graphic novel, Peggy knows comic artists and loves that kind of thing, i think he would come up with some cool characters and concepts

What's a "whole wide

Several hours? 10 hours? A week?

Out of "Spaced"
by Simon Pegg QUOTE
Synopsis
Zombies in North London, death cults in the West Country, the engineering deck of the Enterprise: Simon Pegg has been ploughing some bizarre furrows in recent times. Having blasted onto the small screens with his now legendary sitcom Spaced, his rise to nation's favourite son status has been mercurial, meteoric, megatonnic, but mostly just plain great. From his childhood (and subsequently adult) obsession with Star Wars, his often passionate friendship with Nick Frost, and his forays into stand-up which began with his regular Monday morning slot in front of his 12-year-old classmates, this is a joyous tale of a homegrown superstar and a local boy made good.
Coming Soon.

Och, if that silly cow Katie Price can be on her third (ghost-written) autobiography full 'o crap, then there's no reason why Mr P can't write one interesting and informative one!

I just don't like celebrity autobiogs unless it's somebody who's had a life. The Pegg has done a lot but he's still a young man.

Looking at Amazon, it looks like it will be out in hardback, paperback, CD-ROM and Audio CD.

On the cusp of turning 40? Too be fair he's done plenty to write about despite his age.
I'm more sad that he'll not get his own South Bank Show edition. Unless they squeeze him in before it finishes next year.

I say, you're never too young to write an autobiography if you're interesting. After he's published this he could do another covering the 1st 28 years of his life... then another in years to come from age 40 onwards.

I'll probably pick up a copy when it's out, i think the Pegg has a way with words and the stuff he's writing about is stuff i've enjoyed over the years so I think it will be interesting to read about how it all came about, plus (hopefully) it should be written with a bit of wit and humour.

It is. It's not his life story... I think it just focuses on the last 10 years. ...from Spaced to Trek.
An autobiography doesn't have to be a life story. ... you could write a book just concentrating on a couple of months and it'd still be a biography.

Fair enough.
So it doesn't actually make sense then to say that he (or anyone) is too young to write an autobiography then.
Which might have been what I was getting at in the first place...I forget.
