Full Version: Cruise of the Gods

David Walliams, who plays Vulva in Spaced, appears in Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon's one-off comedy feature, Cruise of the Gods, tonight on BBC2.
The programme, which also features Philip Jackson, James Corden and Brian Conley, sees the former cast of fictional 80s sci-fi series 'Children of Castor' reunite to go on a cruise along with some of their fans, presumably with hilarious (or, if not, cringeworthy, consequences).
It's written by Tim Firth, so there's no doubt of pedigree of production or cast. To add to that, Steve Coogan's character is aptly named Nick Lee. I've no doubt it's a mark of respect to myself, though possibly Tim Firth has other ideas on that one.
Either way - it should be a good watch. It's on BBC2, 9.00pm, and repeated at 12pm on New Years Eve/Day in a timeslot Bravo in the US would be proud of.

Is ver amusing, in a horrifically ironic kinda way (due to the fact that I'm typing this for a fan-site... wink.gif )

It's making me question my life. Oh dear.

It seems a bit more than a coincidence that the name Nick Lee has been used!

To follow up, it was quite cheesy but quite sweet and heartwarming as well. All warm and feature length in atmosphere. That boy that was in Teachers was rather good as well. I wonder if this will propel David Walliams and Rob Brydon into more mainstream acting.

Enjoyable, if a bit silly.

Hello kittencat!
Not that I want to sound like Butler's puppet (or mum) but I also really enjoyed it. It seemed strange scheduling for Christmas but it mocked everyone concerned quite gently.

Does this mean that in 15 years time we will all be cruising the Med dressed as Spaced characters while re-enacting Gone? Oooh, something to look forward to!

Why wait...?  ;)
Smart Arse Butler
Of course, we could all prevent that by killing ourselves in a pre emptive strike.

Oooo, but I might find out that Simons my dad, which, now I come to think of it, would be awful knowing what I've thought about doing to him over the past four years.....

Oooooh dear.

Hello kittencat!
Hmm, you can't make it as far as Camden, young man, how are you going to make it to the Med?  :p

I thought that it was good (just good, not great). The one thing that I really liked about it was the fact that coogan (possibly for the first time in his life) played his character (god.... what was the character's name again wink.gif ) as a person rather than a characture (please note that the above is said with out me seeing 24hr party people).... and I thought he put in a truly great performance.

Oh, and now I have to go away and question my love of a certain british sit-com, will I be that sad in 20 years (well I will probably be drunk in a gutter somewhere if all goes to plan wink.gif )

So who's Simon shagged then?

And then we could ask Simon.

"Bitter Simon?"

Ahahahahaha. Oh the irony.

And Nick Lee....a bit bloomin coincidental.

It was nice to see him acting against character. Usually he plays arrogant monsters. Another thing I liked was the fact that the "Nick Lee" despite his success, was the decent one.
I also liked the theme tune for Sherlock Homes in Miami. In fact I liked that whole concept!

Loved it!
Mind you, I did keep thinking about all of us (in here, who might or might not have been watching it) and of you Nick!
I do find it hard to watch TV at this time of year..(adverts & that thing i don't celebrate!!) but made the effort - And glad i did. - yes KC - I did think of us re-inacting the future of the past!!!(so to speak!) Now that would be sad!!! - OR WOULD IT??????!!!!!!!! tongue.gif

Erm, okay.

Anyhoo, welcome spacedugs - why not click here and introduce yerself to the collective.  :)

And did anyone tape 'Cruise of the Gods', have you still got it, and would you be willing to lend it to me?  I promise not to do anything sordid with it.
Smart Arse Butler
I'd be willing to Andy but I don't think you'll appreciate the fact that ten minutes is missing off the begining. Still, if you get no better offers I'll happily chuck it your way at the next meety thing!

Yes! biggrin.gif

I taped it, only I taped ALL of it, unlike some muppets wink.gif

Thought it was rather good, too…
superfurryandy
Eeeyyyy! biggrin.gif

Thanks for the offer Lyds, but I'll defer to the uncut version  ;)
Smart Arse Butler
Now I feel all flacid and useless, damn your black hearts!

Not really, knowing me you'd never get to see the tape for real, just expect to for ages and ages then one day realise I am in fact the laziest girl on planet earth.

Cheers Rach for saving me that pain!
