Full Version: Jessica Stevenson in new ITV Comedy
Spaced Out Forum > Spaced > News
NickLee
Spaced's Jessica Stevenson is to appear in a new ITV comedy series Avenging Angels (right).
Enthuses ITV's Press Office "Avenging Angels is set in the frenetic world of advertising where young executives Dawn (Jessica Stevenson), Cameron (Julian Rhind-Tutt) and Ed (Jamie Sives), struggling to reach the high flying league, unearth shocking relelations about their scheming bossess. There follows a nail biting and hysterically unpredictable race against time as the trio take to the road to find a fortune and outwit the men who have made their lives miserable."
Spaced fans may recognise Rhind-Tutt as poshie Alex from BBC's 1999 sitcom Hippies, (which also starred Simon Pegg). More recently Rhind-Tutt has been in The Wilsons and Clocking Off and his film appearances include Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Notting Hill, Tomorrow Never Dies and The Madness of King George.
We've no broadcast dates as yet, but you'll see them as and when we do.

More here, with the usual thanks to our woman in ITV.

Do the words "ITV COMEDY" not strike fear into anyone?!

Poor old Jess...

Oi! Watch it matey! ITV is getting better, honest! anyway it prides itself on it's drama's *ahem* ...as long as they have Ross or Martin Kemp in them anyway...  ???
Besides some ITV shows are produced independently, and even Spaced is linked to Granada in some way so you can't knock all ITV. (although it's easy to...)

Anyhoo, don't judge until you see it. I may even be able to get a sneak preview in the next ITV schedule meeting so I will keep you posted. And from what I can see it won't be on before April cause I've seen the listing till then (unless they put it in the odd tbc gaps which I doubt...)

I'll let Nick know as soon as I do anyway.

Just seen a clip of it on This Morning. Obviously I had to be dragged away from my creative morning tasks in order to watch it - I was out repainting the lamp posts in my road at the time, or weaving a giant hanging basket out of banana skins and cat hair, I think. Can't remember exactly what I was doing, but it was something absolutely productive. I definitely wasn't burried under cushion mountain with my feet up, engrossed in highly rubbish daytime TV, that's for sure.

Anyway, what? Oh yeah, the point. They just showed a clip of Avenging Angels and interviewed one of the blokes (didn't catch his name - the one that was in Peak Practice) who kissed Jess' arse for a bit ("stunning.. adds humanity to everything.. brilliant.. *and other positive adjectives*") and mentioned that it'll be going out "in a couple of months". It did look quite amusing. Jess was being sacked for a change.

Aaand, errrr.. that's it.

Apparently Avenging angels got bumped out of the schedule for that 'Mayor Fraud' thing about WWTBAM, according to our programming meeting this morning, but will be in again soon and I will let you know when i find out when. Marina who is the Director of Broadcast stratagy said it was "Ok but not the best one off comedy drama" she has see. Although she did make me and everyone else in the meeting laugh by saying "It portrays a more realistic view of advertising agencies where everyone thinks they have 5 hour posh lunches and the Ivy and spend the rest of the afternoon snorting coke off a 15yr old's bare back. It's not like that at all" hehe

Oh and while I'm talking about ITV programmes there is a new programme coming up in the autumn which looks hilarious! It's called "'Man Vs beast' and is basically men performing tasks along side animals who are obviously much stronger. Unfortunalty the American version we saw a clip of can't be shown here because of various laws, but it included "An elephant pulling a jumbo jet versus ...40 midgets!" It looks fun and they are open to suggestions of presenters. i was going to suggest Nick Frost actually cause I thought it would suit him but when someone shouted "Paul Merton!" I thought it wasn't really in the same league. Shame....
Kick in the Head
Julian Rhind-Tutt is actually the brother of one of the music teachers at my school, so anything he ever stars in (which is quite a lot of things) gets some kind of attention.

Will I watch it? Hmm...depends when its on. Plus, quite honestly, the funniest thing on ITV is always the British Comedy Awards because it features clips from BBC2 and Channel 4 shows.

True - true.

Maybe this will interest our friends at "Broadcast" magazine? Shurely such strong comments from an ITV exec are fairly big industry news?

Ooh that just broke my dream. Jess was running around naked in it for some reason. She'd been lying in a sleeping bag which someone stole off her. Odd.

You can borrow it if you want.
