<table align="right" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"><tr><td><img src="/images/news/lookaroundyou.jpg" /></td></tr></table>Look Around You, the educational spoof co-written and co-produced by Spaced's Peter Serafinowicz will be released on DVD this coming October.
The DVD is available on the BBC Shop website, which lists it at £15.99 and for release on 13 October, 2003.
Which is some time away.
The series parodies 1970s-style educational documentaries and was commissioned by Auntie following an original single film, Look Around You (Calcium).
Serafinowicz co-produced the series with comedy bod Robert Popper (who appears at the end of Spaced 2.2 as an unfortunate Waterstones customer) and directed by relative unknown Tim Kirkby.
The first episode, Maths was shown on the 10th October on BBC2 last year - so the DVD release is almost a year to the day following the first showing.
There are 8 episodes, Maths, Water, Germs, Ghosts, Sulphur, Music, Iron and The Brain, in that order.
There's a clip here for broadband users.
Spaced's Edgar Wright appears in Germs, Ghosts, and The Brain, and, in his words, had "quite a lot to do in them".
In a similar vein, Spaced's Producer Nira Park appears in Sulphur, Theo Park (aka. Amber) appears in Ghosts, Paul Putner in Sulphur, Simon Pegg in Maths and Nick Frost in Music.

The series was much-lauded when it was first broadcast, and the DVD release will come as a shock to many. Although it was undoubtedly successful, it's small scale will have led many to dismiss any chance of such a belief. So this is good news.
If you missed this is a great chance to see it again - it really is a stunning televisual feast. There's no more information on the DVD as yet, but as and when we can get something out of BBC Worldwide's Press bods, you'll hear it first.

Many thanks to Rabbit57i for this info.

O yes I'm so relieved it's coming out on dvd, im a bit miffed though for each show was only 10 minutes and there were only 8 shows totalling 80 mins which aint that long sad.gif o well it sure will be a bloody great dvd. I'l be looking foward to some cracking extras on it.

You'll be pleased to hear that the DVD will also have the 20 min short film Calcium on it too. I think it's the funniest, but there you go. They have also filmed a couple of extra things for the DVD including an extended version of 'Little White Mouse'.

How do I know all this? You're right, that is a personal question.
Smart Arse Butler
I'll tell you how he knows, he goes to robert popper or whatever his name is, and he plays with his tits whilst dancing on fifteen strategically placed plates of raw mince. THATS HOW!
pubwebmaster
That must be why they call him Robert Popper.
Joseph
No its not. Its because his dad was Karl Popper of "If all white swans" fame.

Is that a good thing?

Let's face it, he's not a patch on Dylan Moran...

It's difficult to tell with Play. Sometimes their prices change with time, but for this sort of discount it generally remains until the actual release date. For example, some of the bigger, more expensive box-sets start off with a generous (25-30%) discount, but when you check back a couple of months later, the discount is less generous (10-20%). For the sake of pressing the same button now, rather than in 3 months' time, I'd be happy to save that extra... wink.gif
