I played the new prince of Persia game and I must say it was quite good. For any normal gamer this would have provided a challenging experience however despite tedious puzzles and fun chariot races the end boss seemed a bit of an anti climax because he was far too easy. And the unlockable extra (apart from a real of quite funny bloopers) was a baby toy rattle of death which is like a normal sword except weaker and doesn’t break very easily. -- Blockbuster rental played it intensely on/off for 2 days and finished it.
Ade
Finally gotten round to playing James Bond: Nightfire again. Bought it when I first bought my PS2, but I didn't get a memory card at the same time, so I had to keep going all the way back to the start everytime I switched it on. Clever. Now I have a Memory Card, ho ho ho. So, I've managed to get about halfway, after spending several hours on it today.

Now I'm gonna have a blat on WipeOut Fusion.

Rumour has it that he can complete a game just by looking threateningly at it. I jest. I'd like to play the newest PoP. I played the first PS2 era one, it was pretty good.
Punkass
All the wankers had available to rent for the 360 were 2 sports game that have already been out, oh well.

Just finished playing The Warriors. Not bad for a game based on what looks like a completely rubbish movie. Very short, though - easily a rental.

Yeah, that was the one I played, on a PC I think though.

Just been blasting away on a demo of Call Of Duty 2 for the 360. I was quite imp[ressed, especially when the enemy soldiers are shot, fairly life-like.

Little update on Condemned-
I failed to mention that the story is the only thing carrying this game before. My friend finished it over the weekend while I was there and I have to say that the cut scenes and set pieces helped me appreciate it a little more. I stand by what I said about gameplay, but I was a little harsh overall. 6/10

Finished Chronicle of Swords on Soul Calibur 3 the other day. Massively satisfying because the last boss is an arse. He can kill you in about 3 hits, his life regenerates and he's insanely fast.
Also forced myself to play some more Xeno Saga. It was sat on my shelf for about a month taunting me with what a waste of money it was. Got onto disk 2. Very, very standard rpg.

Jinx- the Warriors film is bad, but the kind of bad thats good.

Getting Mario Kart DS tonight. I think that my neighbours have a wireless network I may be able to sneakily get onto. I'll post my friend code on Monday and with any luck a couple of us may be able to get a game going sometime. happy.gif

My best mate at uni/sorta ex bf gave me my first Christmas/Birthday pressie yesterday.

Unlike me he didnt bother to wrap it as he'd only just got it in the post that day

Zoo Keeper for the DS. Ive been interested in it but never really thought of buying it.

Now im bloody addicted to it. I think I have an addiction to puzzle games.

The lion is so cute rolleyes.gif

I'm up for that, now I just need to get a friend code ( huh.gif ) and access to a wireless network tongue.gif which actually shouldn't be that difficult

Just got Xensaga Episode 2 from Gamestation. The first of the series officially available in the UK. I haven't played it yet, but Gamestation are selling it at a well priced £19.99.

It is one of the better games this year. Not absolutely outstanding but definitely worth a go. But you're right about needing a beefy PC for it, I was running at max detail in 1280 x 1024, and for the most part it ran at a good 60 fps or so, but there were occasional performance spikes so I had to turn anti-aliasing down. The spikes were usually when going from one area to another which makes me think it's due to some kind of pre-caching of the next area happening all in one go. A bit unfortunate really because Quake 4 was absolutely solid 60 fps all the way through the game for me, the only stuttering came when I saved the game.

Just a word of warning. Having played 12ish hours and gotten onto the second disk, be prepared for boredom and very little in the way of action. In the first 12 hours I played a maximum of 5 actual action sequences (fighting battles etc). That worked out to about 7 hours+ of very badly acted dialogue to sit through. You have been warned.

Mario Kart kicks so much ass its unreal. Finished every cup in first+ almost all of the missions are done. Unfortunately the signal strength from my neighbours wifi wasnt good enough for me to get online. Tried it at work a minute ago but I need a WEP key to access the network. Fortunately both of the pubs local to my house are on the Nintendo wireless site listed as places I can play for free! Booze and MArio Kart, how can you go wrong?

It does, although I'm struggling to unlock all the tracks, I managed 50cc no problem but then it all went nasty sad.gif oh well, I'll keep at it.

Just ordered Condemned for the 360 off play.com. I'm hoping for good things.

I've got that sat right here in front of me and can't play it because it's a christmas pressie. Grrr. mad.gif
zeden
Dont know why but I really find the latest Mario Kart really easy. Very few of the tracks have taken me more than 2 tries to beat, even on 150cc. If your having a hard time I suggest practicing the power slide boost move, you'll never beat 150cc without it.
I have come the realisation that the DS is not designed for human hands. After a few solid hours of playing, my thumbs were in agony. The position the have to stay in is completely unnatural.

I found that with the PS2 control pads. Most uncomfortable controller I've ever used. I only used it for about 15 minutes before my thumbs were hurting.

For me it was the original XBox controller, they were just too big to use comfortably. PS2 I'm alright at but I remember hating the original PlayStation controller initially so I think it's just due to me being used to that design that I don't mind the PS2 one. Dreamcast, N64 and Gamecube are the best controllers I've ever used.

But, the Controller S is a dream, one of the best controllers I've ever used. I actually have a wireless microcon for my xbox which i normally use, and thats smaller again, although some of my friends say its too small. Fools.

The DC controller was ok (and I'm sure must be the inspiration for the original xbox xontroller) but I got a really good madcatz one for the DC and again that was a one of the best I've ever used, except it broke down, I think something in the connector went u/s and I had to go back to the old stylee.
zeden
Never found a problem with the PS2 pad myself. Your not wrong about the x-box ones though. As for the Dreamcast, the cable coming out of the bottom of the pad drove me nuts. Bad design I say. Fav pad- Sega Saturn. Like the Megadrive pad but better. The ultimate for streetfighter. N64 and GameCube pads suffer from being the worst for any multiformat game. Try Tony Hawk on the GC and you'll see what I mean.
maian
I'd rather not have to endure a Tony Hawk game to prove that, but I have noticed it with some multi-format games, but by no means all of them. Soul Caliber II works well on it, I can't really say I've played many multi-format ones on Gamecube since I tend to buy exclusives for that and multiformat ones on PS2, but the controller is excellent if the developers use it well.
zeden
You've hit a bone of contention there. I've played all 3 versions of Calibur 2 and without a doubt the GC pad is the worst for it. The postition of the buttons feels so unnatural.
Dont diss the Hawk. Its good mindless fun.
maian
Depends which of the versions you played first, I've played the PS2 and Gamecube versions and I found the Gamecube much better to play on since I started playing on that one first and was more accustomed to it. TonyHawk games are alright, but the only really good one was Tony Hawks 3 on the GBA, the 3D incarnations have done nothing for me.

I don't think anyone can deny that the original Xbox controller was awful smile.gif. On the other hand, I'd still rather use that than the PS2 pads. The Controller S really is a great controller. The Xbox 360 pad is similar, but slightly better overall, although I don't like the analogue triggers as much as the controller S ones.

We managed to crash it within about five minutes on the xbox version. It really chugs as well, it really isn't suited to the xbox at all.

Ive had to stop playing the addictive Zookeeper on the ds cause

A) My right hand's joints have been really hurting i think cause ive been playing it loads

B) Batteries are virtually dead after feeding my nintendog, and I left my charger at uni.

Hope my sister brings her charger or im screwed as im geting mariokart for crimbo

The gamecube controllers are pretty good, I like the way the analogue sticks are set into an octagon rather than a circle so you know for sure you're pressing directly UP and not mostly up and a bit to the side. I don't think they're as good as the controller S or 360 pads though.

I don't know what a controller S ( huh.gif ) is and the only 360 controller I've used is the one on the display cabinet thing at Game and that was slightly too low for me to get a good grip on things and was overall quite uncomfortable. But we'll see when I get my actual console form Play.com
