Been playing through Dead or Alive 4 this weekend, and it's an absolute sack of shit. It's ridiculously hard, way too fast to make any sensible decisions, has no tutorial, has far too many moves and counter moves that you just can't possibly learn, let alone pull off at the right time. It basically descends into a load of button mashing, where you happen to win occasionally. Also I can't believe they made an attempt at putting a "story" into it. Two women, fighting over a cabbage. And I'm not exagerating, that literally is one of the justifications for one of the fights. Not to mention the fact that they couldn't even be bothered localising the voices from japanese to english. Rubbish.

Beat me to the punch on DOA there.
Massively underwhelming. was expecting better but its basically a slightly nicer looking version of the older games. As Nonus said, the fighting system is insanely hard. You've basically got to learn the timings of every characters moves to stand any kind of chance. I can forgive the cheesy cut scenes between fights but what really pissed me off was the end boss. The boss has moves that can basically take you down in 5 seconds which results in constant re-trys. Glad its not me that owns it.

That always pissed me off about DOA3. The end boss in that was a bitch, In a purely fighting game, he'd chuck fireballs at you from range, when he fell over, you get taken down too if you didn't jump fast enough, and he's about 50 times harder than the preceding fight.

I'd say Condemned is probably the best game I've played all year. It's just what the first person genre needed, a bit of originality. I'd like to see a few more first person games which don't almost exclusively involve guns. In Condemned, guns are a luxury, you pick a gun up that has 4 or 5 bullets in it, it's like christmas.

Well I've kicked it off, and completed the first Paris section with Samanosuke, but thus far it has been extremely samey. No doubt it's a beautiful game, but I want to be able to pull off some of the sweet moves from the sequences, and with only one attack button that seems like it's impossible. That said, the game has the possibility to open up into orgasmic quality if it wants, a la Devil May Cry. Hopefully it'll get a bit more complex as time progresses. Still gorgeous to look at though.

This is a bit obvious but activate as many stims, shields and force powers as you can before you go into the fight. Concentrate on one guy at time and try to heal yourself if you can. You could if down to the last guy run away from them, fire with a blaster, then run away again until they die, pausing a lot makes this easier, I don't think they use much force powers so they might not get you. Though if I remember correctly the fight area is kind of small for that battle.

I agree with this completely. It's a great little title, even if the actual gameplay is a little linear. And the fear that the game creates is immense, so much suspense. I just didn't like the way that the mutant-zombie type creatures weren't expalined, it was just like "what the FUCK????" half the time

Well, I've only just managed to stop playing Fahrenheit, so that gives you an idea of quality. If I'm honest, the gameplay thus far hasn't been inspired, and it's pretty slow going - no guns/fights and only one chase so far - but the story is superbly done. Changing between characters is good too, though I've found myself increasingly gripped by Lucas' story. It plays out sort of like Max Payne with much less violence thus far. Our protagonist has a fucked-up conscience, constantly flashing back to the night of the murder, having traumatising nightmares and odd premonitions of what is about to happen. The story has been sublime, I can't stress that enough, and given that there's just been a fully interacitve sex scene, this has been great fun so far, and I can only hope it continues. Highly recommended, even if more as an interactive movie.

Got to agree with the blaster advice. They beat my jedi and melee fighters down, but give Mandalore (or Mira, HK etc.), a good blaster, run away, take a shot, run, shoot, run, shoot, run... repeat as necessary.
The room is pretty small but there's some sort of pool in the middle which makes for a nice circuit to run around.

Its difficult to know how in depth to go with advise but whats been said so far is sound. What I can tell you really depends on how much you already know. Your choice of characters is pretty crucial, as well as the moves you teach them. Heres a few suggestions that always work for me-
Try to level up the Toughness and conditioning feats for as many characters as possible. You'll be able to take a massive beating if you do.
All mele fighters should learn master flurry asap. With no negative effect on this level of the ability you can do 2 attacks every turn with no problem.
Teach your main character master force speed asap. Again this will give you extra attacks, paired with flurry you can kill just about any enemy with one or two attacks.
Teach heal to your main character regardless of whether your dark or light. It invaluable because is basically an infinite healing power, thanks to the force regeneration.
Dont bother with the lightsaber throw move, its rubbish.
Duel lightsabers are the best, one long, one short for balance. Try to stock pile your crystals so your main character can have 2 great lightsabers. This combined with force speed and flurry gives you something like 6 attacks in one move.
Dont know how helpfull that is but give me a shout if you have any specific questions.

It's bloody good. The gameplay's not inspired, but I found myself so drawn in that I didn't mind the fact that it felt like an interactive movie. I would've posted sooner, but I've only just stopped playing it. I've now finished the storyline; not because it's short, but because I've been playing it solidly all day. It's very hard to put the controller down at any stage, since something important lurks after every sequence. I really enjoyed the game - a very original story, likeable characters and plays like a cross between Deus Ex, Max Payne and Path Of Neo. Original title which I loved playing and highly recommend. The best £15 I've spent in a good while.

It sure is an excellent game. I expected it to be good though, with it being made by Quantic Dream. I enjoyed Omikron: The Nomad Soul that they did a few years back. The only thing that lets Fahrenheit (or The Indigo Prophecy for any americans who are confused as to what we're talking about... It had different names in different countries) down is the ending, which is really weak, and feels like it was rushed to get the game finished.

I haven't actually played it, but there was apparently a game called "Big Rigs" which was released on PC which was just an abandoned prototype. It was supposedly a racing game involving lorries. However. There was no collision detection with anything other than the terrain, which means you could drive straight through your opponent or buildings, etc. The computer controlled opponent simply didn't even move from the start line, there was no way of actually losing the game (no time limit, etc). The lorry could drive up vertical cliff faces, and OOE, turn with infinitely increasing rotational velocity, and stop dead instantaneously. The promised "police chases" simply didn't exist, and trying to load one of the levels crashed the game.
