Really? From what I've played of it, FRWL seems like a poor version of Everything Or Nothing giving me an overwhelmin feeling of 'Meh'.

I haven't even bothered to play this. Third person Bond games = SHIT!

I think the highest review I saw for it was about 47%.

Been playing Kameo some more. The Fire Trolls are twats

It's only really any good if you have seen the old Bond movies with Shean in them; only then can you appreciate the shuperiority of it to other titles. It's not the most challenging of games, but it's Connery! Impossible not to love Sean in any form. Shplendid.

I've seen many a 'Shean' Connery Bond film, it's still not enough to make me like the game.

Oh and, thanks for recommending Fahrenheit. It is, as 'Shean' might say, sho shplended and shuperly shocking.

Of late, I have been mucking about with the recently-released demo for Peter Molyneux's "The Movies." So far, so good; "The Sims" meets, say, "Rollercoaster Tycoon" or "Theme Park."

The interface is its Achilles heel, though. It would be so much more enjoyable if everything weren't so much of a chore to manage. I don't want to have to click and hold down the mouse button for a few seconds to pick something up; I do that enough on my parents' Mac!

I haven't actually played it, but there was apparently a game called "Big Rigs" which was released on PC which was just an abandoned prototype. It was supposedly a racing game involving lorries. However. There was no collision detection with anything other than the terrain, which means you could drive straight through your opponent or buildings, etc. The computer controlled opponent simply didn't even move from the start line, there was no way of actually losing the game (no time limit, etc). The lorry could drive up vertical cliff faces, and OOE, turn with infinitely increasing rotational velocity, and stop dead instantaneously. The promised "police chases" simply didn't exist, and trying to load one of the levels crashed the game.

Read PCGamer recently? Saw that review as well. It did look like the biggest waste of time and money ever.

GOt Knights of the Old 1 again on Sat. Already 10 hours in. Its funny how there is quite a lot of slowdown graphically on the second game, yet the first runs almost perfectly.
NiteFall
Still playing KOTOR II, just managed to Jedi up everyone that could be Jedi'd up. The game was even nice enough to drop enough Lightsabres of different types that everyone now has either a long and a short or a double ended one. Ranged weapons are for ponces I have now decided, chopping people into teeny tiny pieces with humming energy blades is where all the cool kids are at.

I think the last game i played was on an sega emulator, it was the ghostbusters game and i died at the second haunting. sad.gif

Just got Killer7 on Gamecube, and man is it good.

It took me about an hour to make sense of how to play it properly, and the conversations with Iwazaru take FOREVER to get to the point, but I'm completely engrossed. Its amazing how it just makes its own rules, and the plot is so unlike anything else I've played. Truly original and deranged as hell. 'Bout halfway through the second mission, and can't wait to play some more.

Killer 7 rules. Wait till you fight the Hansome Men. The most origional concept for years. I think you need to be mentally unstable to understand the plot though. Highly confusing.

No, this was reviewed on gamespot ages ago I think. The game was developed by some russian company that claims it can make games with a total budget of about half a university graduate's annual starting salary.

It's still a great game, even though it was a massive disappointment after the original Deus Ex. Their idea of "streamlining" the game was effectively gutting it of half the things I found so great about the original. It should never have been developed with a console audience in mind, because that's what ruined it.

If the developers where really that considerate wouldn't they have made both, a console and a PC version?

Very true. The dismantling of the augmentation system that had been so well created and the generic ammunition totally ruined Invisible War for me. Also the game engine used was terrible and I only managed to play for a few hours before abandoning the game and swapping it. A replacement copy of the original arrived today and I'm thinking about playing it (yet again).

Been playing Nintendogs and Mariokart DS more recentley. On nintendogs I found another RC helicopter (not the combat one though sad.gif ) and borght a talking bird. It records and speads up your voice, repeating every 5 seconds. Its cool

Just wondering, have you played the first game? The plot of the second one is pretty confussing if you didnt.
NiteFall
Oh yes, played the first one for 20 odd hours straight the week before it was released. I was determined to have it completed light and dark side before the official release date. Then aving done that I then sat down and played it again, paying attention this time.
zeden
Thats pretty crazy. Finishing it twice in a week is a mad mans task. How did you aquire it a week before release?

Got to agree with you on the gun issue. Shooting sucks. Getting a team of 3 hardcore Jedi and just decimating everything with lightsabers and powers is great.

Most enjoyable thing on the second game that I've found is making your character into a Sith Lord and putting all your stats onto wisdom. On the last level you can walk into a room, use force lightening level 3 and everyone dies. Its satisfying being a badass.

I finished Ace Combat 5 a few days ago, and I'm now playing it more than I did before. Whatwith medals to earn, aircraft to by, and 32 levels to get S ranks in on 6 difficulties (making a total of 192), there's a lot to be done.

Great, great, great game. I wasn't really into military aircraft until I picked up Ace Combat 4 last April; now I'm really keen on them. AC5 is an awesome game that any PS2 owner looking for a good action shooter will enjoy. The controls take some getting used to, and some of the missions are very infuriating, but overall it's a great experience.

Just completed Case of The Crabs. I found it on FHM.com, but I have no idea how I came to be on that particular site rolleyes.gif

Playing devil May Cry 3 latly, whats a splendid return to form after the disapointing DMC2 all action game fans DMC 3 reccomended

Borrowed "Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green" from someone... Not much to write home about, really. It would have been a decent game ten years ago, but even "Blood" has fresher gameplay.

The level design is just as linear, if not moreso, than "Doom"; the music is so irritating and repetitive I turned it off after about 5 minutes; there are only about 6 different enemies, total; the enemies are unbelievably dumb, even for zombies; and the game resorts to the same, tired, old tricks to try and scare you (Oh, look, a hole in the ceiling! I hope nothing falls out of it when I walk underneath it!). And, somehow, they manage to make the Unreal engine graphics look even blurrier and flatter than the Quake engine.

It's good for, say, $10, for a good 8-10 hours of gameplay, but don't expect much from it.

Do any of you guys who work in the games industry know how the voice over talent was/is recruited on games you have/are working on?
Figure its as good a place to start as any in terms of voice acting, just about every game has voice overs in some form nowadays.
maian
A lot of the time they just get people who work at the developer to provide voice overs, though that tends to be for smaller roles or just as basic recordings before they get the professionals in. Usually they go for professional voice actors or the odd celebrity, so they usually go for people have already done it, though it would tend to depend on the voice. Probably the best bet would be to get in touch with a developer and ask them if they are recruiting, then you'd just have to audition, I'd imagine.
Jubei
The latest issue of EGDE has a big piece on voice acting in games. Quite interesting, and another on translating and localising games.

I'm not really sure where our voice actors come from... As a programmer that's not my responsibility. I do remember listening to all the auditions of different people. I have no idea who these people were though.

A few games are going for celebrities now though, like Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell is actually Michael Ironside's voice (Richter from Total Recall), and Oblivion supposedly has Patrick Stewart as the emperor.

Totally different design for the console and PC versions? That'd be mucho expensive. It shouldn't have been released on any consoles full stop. Deus Ex was a brilliant, but very PC-suited game. The interface required for a game of such depth just doesn't work on a console. All they really succeeded in doing in making Invisible War for the xbox was to piss off their existing fans.

There's a completely online one you can try called Runescape (runescape.com), although you have to pay for certain skills and map areas.

Also, look here.

Shattered Galaxy is OK, it's a realtime strategy.

Allegiance is a good space game, but the players can be a bit arsey, especially to new players.

Face of Mankind (fomportal.com). If it's still free, it's well worth a look.
Jubei
Bought Need for Speed: Most Wanted because I wanted a nice shiny online racing game. Absolutely loving it, although I prefer the offline game ot the online one. When you play online, you can only reaally play when you;ve completed the whole game because everyone seems to use maxed out end of game cars. Anyway, my ruded Punto nearly holds its own biggrin.gif

I'm back on the PC version of Far Cry. Hopefully I can get further than before, it's a pretty damn hard game from what I remember.

any free non downloads availible? i played bootleggers b4 but got a bit boring after a while. Any better 'uns?

Enemy Territory is the game you want. And give me a shout when you've downloaded it, I'll play against you (or with you if we can get a team going).

It's a free First Person Shooter based on the Castle Wolfenstein game engine (Jedi too!)

IT's pretty damn good with loads of tweaks...

Also there's a driving game called trackmania(?) or something very similar which is a bit graphics intensive but is s'ppose to be real good.

Enemy Territory though, download that
