I didn't exactly like Final Fantasy 8, but I really, really adore Final Fantasy 9. Check that one out when you're finished with 8!

Iv completed that one twice...i like the sword fight at the beginning biggrin.gif...i have final fantasy 10-2 but i havent started it yet...

I've just bought Max Payne for X-Box. What a game! Simply sublime from start to finish. Amazingly fun and deeply dark story. Recomend this to anyone who likes killing scores of guys in amusing ways!

I'm thinking of getting the second one, can anyone tell me if it's any good? Is it better than the first? Any info would be appreciated.
frostitute
Graphics are plus, story is a mediocre rating. If you liked Max Payne, you'll like the second, that's all there is to it!

But unfortunately there's no more constipated Max....oh well.

I love 8 too. 9 was good but it just didn't grab me in the same way as 7, 8 and 10. 10-2 is by far the weakest in the series (that i've played). The storyline and music are both pretty poor compared to the others.
Douglas Nicol
I like FF 10-2, but it seems more like Charlies Angels:Final Fantasy if you know what I mean.

Has anyone played Arc:Twilight of the Spirit or Star Ocean, I've been wondering what they're like.
frostitute
I actually have both titles, but I haven't bothered checking them out yet! I really have too many things.

Rumor is that the Mario gang will be playable in the Gamecube version of NBA Street Vol 3, as an "All-Star Team" of sorts.

Anyone else had the thought that maybe the last generation of game consoles [PS2 n' X-BOX] have a deal goin' with or are in cahoots with our energy industries!!!?...'Cos why the bloody Hell does the fan in these bloody things have to be goin' full throttle all the time...My place is like an ice-box after a half hour of game play...and Lord have mercy if the games any good an' ya havin' a marathon session.I'm sure I'll be told that its 'cos these things are so powerful the circuits heat up so much, they'd melt the disc...That maybe so,but what about playin' run of the mill DVDs!?My DVD player dosn't have a built in bloody wind machine in it!!!!

I thought the story was a little weaker the second time around and I didn't enjoy as much as the first one. But then, I made the mistake of buying it for the PS2 and that's a horrible, horrible port - long, long super long loooooooooon loading times make for a crappy gaming experience. You've got an X-box so it should be loads more fun.

There's also the funny thing that Max Payne looks like Coronation Streets own serial killer Richard Hillman in the second game. You're almost expecting a hidden level with a special 'spade-fu' move where he decapitates Gail Platt. biggrin.gif

Yeah 8 rules biggrin.gif ....9 was a bit poor, but was still kinda fun, it has a completely different atmosphere to the others, seems more fairytale-ish...yer 10-2 looks a bit corny, and im really annoyed that the other characters are hardly included sad.gif....When i first starting watching spaced n i saw the scenes where it flashes back to mike and tims past, i thought it was a reference to final fantasy, due to the plinky plonky music and the bright cloud style hair of young tim...haha i kno it seems funny now but there is a flashback memory scene in ff7 of two people sitting on a well, and it seems similar....

There's also some hints of Final Fantasy 7 in Final Fantasy 9 as well:

In one store, I think the very first town you go to, if you examine the walls in the weapon shop, you can see Cloud's giant sword, and Zidane says to himself about a spiky-headed warrior.

This is sooo weird. Me and my friend were talking about DDR games like 6 months ago, and where taking the mick of how some games go for random crossovers and that's when we started to joke about if there was a Mario DDR. Someones been using our ideas.....eerie huh.gif

bought Flatout yesterday, its a pretty arcadey smash em up racer with the bonus that if you smash into a solid object at speed you come flying out your windscreen and land in a crumpled heap!It makes it so much more satisfying to run people into things aswell because you see their body flying alongside you for a second! Its prety sadistic i supose! You get mini games too like high jump were you have to drive up a ramp then hurl yourself out the windscreen and try to get as high as possible! Watching the splat from a 100m+ drop is prertty funny! You get darts and bowling and more

I just bought Resident Evil 4.

I will make a hot video for you all to see just how awesome this game is. Tim Bisley would be proud!

I got two preowned games on Saturday.

I traded in Vampire:Bloodlines, because it was really slow, and got A Moment of Silence, a rather neat looking point and click adventure, a genre that's sadly neglected now.

Another game which has been providing some laughs is Evil Genius, imagine a Theme Hospital/Dungeon Keeper type game where you have to construct a lair and its like a take off of the Bond films. Graphically it's very nice and is quite funny.

How did you get into game testing? I've just applied for a job as a QA Technician, which is all very well and good, but it would be testing Championship Manager 5, which doesn't exactly fill me with anticipation. Still, its industry experience i suppose...

How do you make a dream job into a dull job, insert a football management game!

I'm glad though that it isn't coming out in the UK until March 18th, as that's my last day of the term at uni, so much me play in spring break methinks! biggrin.gif

I was actively trying to get into the games industry a while back through games testing, but I found it quite hard as most places did seem to require previous industry experience. One of the exceptions was Electronic Arts, but they are quite a long way from where I live, me being in north Kent and them being Heathrow way (a ridiculous drive, right to the other side of the M25 each day no thanks!). I did however go along for an interview one day just to be nosey and have a look around EA. It was very interesting and really cool to meet up with lots of other gaming fanatics. I'm still very keen to get into the industry but possibly from another angle.

Anyway all the best with your application for that job.

Well I am very lucky tbh. I used to work with a girl who's husband worked at Sony and she knew I wanted to get into it and so when there were jobs available she told me about it and I sent in my CV. After several months they called me up and invited me for an interview.

Again I live in Liverpool and one of Sony's studio's as I'm sure you know is in Liverpool. I didn't have any experience but I think my background in computers helped (I went to uni to do comp science).

All I can say is take the job. It's a foot in the right direction. If you are willing to move to Liverpool I know they are looking for compatability testers where I work right now.

Whatever happens good luck with it all smile.gif

Justincredible, what's Star Ocean 3 like? I'm a big RPG fan and I've been a bit disappointed with Wild Arms 3, Breath of Fire:Dragon Quarters and I completed both Fable and Legaiaa 2. Star Ocean 3 certainly looks nice from what I've seen but I'd like an honest opinion.

Final Fantasy X - it's sooooo long!
Half Life 2 - it's sooooo good!

Paper Mario
I want to make the dragon!

Me and a couple of friends have been busting through Zelda: Four Swords Adventures. Brilliant game, had to buy a second hand GBA and a couple of GBA-Cube link cables but it only came to about 45 quid and was well worth it. My new favourite mulitplayer game.
Justincredible
star ocean 3 is hard... i typed a longer review but it got deleted i guess. basically its the same production quality of ffx... if not better... great graphics, fully 3d rotatable, awesome design... but its pretty hard. the combat system takes a bit to get used to. I'd pick it up tho... it will entertain you for awhile.

Now ALSO playing: Hunter:The Reckoning- Wayward (got it for $10 at best buy!) and Suikoden IV (AMAZING game)

This is very much next on my purchase list.

Last night I finished Clock Tower 3 on the PS2, not a bad game really, very resident evil in gameplay style. I am also really enjoying Metal Slug on the GBA.

Finally caved in and got Halo... What a fucking game... Freaking fantastic!!!!

When I am done that, I have Morrowind waiting for me... No idea how that's gonna pan out, but it should keep me busy for a few months!
Douglas Nicol
I got Battle For Middle Earth, crushing Uruk Hai beneath the hooves of the Rohirrim is strangely stress relieving. smile.gif
Tiffany_Aching
I got Fable and compeleted it in a week! I was hoping for something a bit for epic than that. sad.gif

So I got Sudeki, which is really good but again a bit short for my tastes.

I am thinking of getting Star Ocean next that is said to be quite long and good.

The one with the numbers on each side of the card and various rules depending which region you play in. The one where the cards actually mattered because you could convert them into items and magic.

Such a hard life... tongue.gif

You just have to find the bugs, us poor programmers have to actually fix the things! I bet you've never worked from 9am to half past midnight (OK so I did manage to fit in an hour of Counter Strike and some table football while the game was building) tongue.gif

This is actually the first weekend in a while that I haven't been in to work on our game a bit more...
