When I am done that, I have Morrowind waiting for me...  No idea how that's gonna pan out, but it should keep me busy for a few months!
*

Morrowind is pretty freakin sweet, Svein. But for old school fun, get its prequel Daggerfall... woah that's a cool came.

I got Fable and compeleted it in a week!  I was hoping for something a bit for epic than that. sad.gif

I am thinking of getting Star Ocean next that is said to be quite long and good.
*

My bro said Fable was a letdown too. So sad. Star Ocean is really long and very well done. Its challenging too. Great story. GET IT!

Thanks...  that was the FF that I owned...  one of the most addictive games that I have ever played!
*

HAHAHA, triple triad... ah the memories. That was my least favorite FF though. Does anyone remember Gold Saucer from FFVII??? I spent tons of time in the arcade there... doing the rollercoaster shooting game and the snowboarding game. HAHA, Suikoden III and Suikoden IV are LOADED with ridiculously addicting games... IV has one that's kind of like mahjongg that is sooooo addictive.
Douglas Nicol
Unfortunately Suikoden III never came out in the UK, and I don't know if Suikoden IV will either.

Recently got a demo of Mecenaries fro x-box (anyone else buy this months official mag??!!) and i must say its looking like a top notch game! The demo just captures me for hours at a go, imagine what the game is going to be like!!Ive not played a demo disk this much since actua soccer 2 and discworld 2 demo's were on the same disk!
frostitute
You europeans must buy Resident Evil 4. God that game is sooooo good.

Anyway, I've since completed that game and have been attacking my giant backlog of games, and am almost finished with Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando. This series along with the Jak & Daxter trilogy are some of the most fun platformers I've ever played!

Once I'm finished with this, I think I'll work on some of my RPGs, starting with Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for Gamecube.

I'm working through it now-got 6 of the 7 stars. Some levels got tedious but some were great. A fun game throughout and a major change from other mario games.

What are you lot looking forward to this year? Top of my list is Mercenaries for Xbox. I played the demo yesterday and ooooooh is it fun!

Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind is an absolutely incredible game. Has anyone seen the screenshots yet for Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion? It certainly looks fantastic.

Based on the ravings of you lot I got Xbox magazine (also partly cause it had a two month free live trial as well, and I'm about to move house so i will need that) and I have to say this mercenaries malarchy wasn't that good. AND the git took the helicopter before I got there. I want gunners dammit!
However, I did think the Mech game was quite spanking though.
frostitute
Man, I just played Mercenaries, and I'm not feeling it.

Major bore to me at the moment.

I'll try out Oddworld Stranger next...
The_Fuckest_Uppest
Maybe I did go a bit over the top, but I have waited for a game where you can blow up EVERYTHING for years! This is my dream come true. Plus there's guns and planes and tanks and bombs!
*Foams at the mouth*

Have just got Donkey Konga, how much fun is this game!?!?!?

Can't wait to get the Donkey Kong Jungle Beat as well.

I just love those Bongos!!! biggrin.gif

The Monkey Island games have always been up there as some of my faves. Out of the four I'd say the second was the best, even if most of the time was spent swapping between the eleven disks it came on for the Amiga! (oh the wonderment when I got that external disk drive).

In terms of new games I'm really interested to see what Oddworld Stranger is like and of course Resi 4 looks marvellous.
shazam
need for speed underground 2
GTA san andreas
FFVII (replaying for 4th time)
prince of persia warrior within

sort of jump between all these games

I can't wait for The Longest Journey 2, the first game was a wonderful, if sadly overlooked point and click adventure.

Does anyone else here remember the Gabriel Knight games by Sierra?

Yeah, it looks great! 'course, I'm probably a little biased; I've been active in their forums, chatrooms, and fan sites for the past 7 years or so. I actually had a cameo in an alpha version of Morrowind, but that was chucked out when they changed art directors. But the screens look marvelous, the developers' morale is good, and so on, and so forth. Should be another tour-de-force.

Yeah, The Longest Journey was amazing. Who says adventures are dead? With the passing of Sierra (more or less), I'm afraid we probably won't see any more of Gabriel and Grace... Or Roger Wilco, for that matter.

LucasArts has lost it, too. Where is the company that just 7 years ago gave the world Grim Fandango, my top choice for finest adventure ever created? Now all they do is mediocre Star Wars crap. And Escape from Monkey Island. Guybrush deserves better.

In any case (boy, I say that a lot), the game I've been playing most recently is the revamped Sid Meier's Pirates! that came out back in November. Man, that brings back the memories.
Douglas Nicol
Oh the new Pirates is certainly something. I remember playing the original on a friends Commodore 64, then playing the Atari ST version then Pirates Gold on the PC. No matter what other companies tried, they couldn't seem to emulate Pirates that well.

(cut from the consol wars post cause it should be in here)

All monday Iw as playing on DS's all around town.
Tuesday I spent most of the evening doodling on my mates DS and playing marioDS

Also been playing around on animal crossing this week, cheating jingle (the equivelent of santa) into giving me loads of xmas presents in a makeshift town i visit (My town is called Gillton)
Its getting slightly boring as I vurtually own evry piece of furniture I can gte, appart from the ones you get from the bank and the decorating judges.

Oh and a couple of bugs

I've been on an RPG kick lately:

Tales of Symphonia (GCN)
Baten Kaitos (GCN)
Star Ocean: Till the end of Time (PS2)
Shadow Hearts: Covenant (PS2)
Fire Emblem (GBA)
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (GBA)
SuperSaiyanStoner
anyone played the second evil dead game (fistfull of boomstick)? Any good?Just wondering because i have only ever heard of it or seen a few screenshots,i have no idea what it plays like!
frostitute
Sucks. Average hack and slash with many repetitive one-liners from Bruce Campbell.

Only buy if you are really fiending Evil Dead. I mean, really. Like a crackhead. Really.
SuperSaiyanStoner
cheers, confimrs my fears, thats why i had to ask!

Been very tempted to get hold of this, is it marvellous or just not bad?
frostitute
Very cliched storyline (chosen ones, unlocking seals, etc.). Difficulty hasn't been too bad, but I found myself having to take on bosses a couple times, but there are times where I found myself absolutely lost because the game doesn't really follow a set path of events for you to uncover.

Graphics are pretty, nice cel-shading. The voice acting is pretty good too, except a few voices.

I'd recommend it honestly if you have

a) a GCN
b) an appetite for RPGs
c) both
Jubei
I'd recommend Skies of Arcadia, or Eternal Arcadia, which i believe is its GC incarnation. Bit on the old side now sadly.

Also, anyone rate The Thing? Keep being tempted to buy it, but have avoided it so far.
SuperSaiyanStoner
i think it has been mentioned earlier but seikuden II is a darn good rpg.I quite liked legend of dragoon aswell.

Skies of Arcadia Legends here in US. It's good, yes, but the graphics may seem outdated. Story and characters etc. are very awesome. Pirate's Wraaaaaaaaaaaaaaath~

Haven't played The Thing much, but I would say it's a honorable translation of the movie, check it out.

SuperSaiyanStoner:

Suikoden II is only good on eBay, where it fetches for $100+.

Thank god I paid $5 for my copy (legit too not pirated)! wink.gif

I never was a fan of the Suikoden series period.
SuperSaiyanStoner
i played it borrowed from a friend who borowed it from a friend (along with his american ps) so i diddnt have to pay a penny to play it!Ive not played any of the others i just played II a lot, though i diddnt get to complete it before it got taken away from me sad.gif Thats probably why i look back at it with high regards, it was the game that got away!
Jubei
I believe Suikoden 4 is about to come out in the UK, although it might be out already in the US.
frostitute
Suikoden II is also the game that you should play, as 3 and 4 are shit. They suck, and there is no denying this, unless you are a Konami/Suikoden fan by heart.
SuperSaiyanStoner
nah im not, i just got handed it and told 'here, its an rpg' so naturaly i played!

Anyone bought mercenarys yet?Ive played the demo to death and plan on getting it soon!
frostitute
It's ok, nothing too glamorous (i'm very critical on my games teehee). GTA clone this is not, that's for sure.

I did like 5 missions then took it back.
SuperSaiyanStoner
really?Oh man.I know its not a gta clone, ive read the reviews but why did you take it back? Is it much like the demo?Because that is damn fun!

You take it back because its shit, or just because its not yur type of game?
frostitute
Probably because it's not my type of game.

But then again, my xbox is modded, sooooo I simply rented it and copied it to my HDD...and took it back. But shhhhhh, you didn't hear that.

If you like the demo then check out the retail version at least.
Space Pancakes
I don't know about the rest of you but I think the Homeworld saga for the P.C. are brill games, aswell as the Total War series (most notably Rome: Total War). These games are worthy of recognition

ahhhhhhh i seeee! I been wanting to get my xbox chipped for ages.

Kingdom Hearts (PS2) is an amazing game. The mix of Disney and Final Fantasy is wierd, but a good one- Kingdom Hearts 2: Chain of Memories is meant to be brill aswell cool.gif
frostitute
It's more Kingdom Hearts 1.5, as it connects the story between 1 and 2.
MissingPlanet
Still playing Resident Evil 4. It irons out a lot of problems I had with the earlier ones. There are quite a lot of instant death moments, but fortunately you don't have to replay the same large section over and over again if they keep killing you. Will reserve judgement on the plot until I finish it.
kid_koala
got the swat 4 demo. it's super fun, but it tends to indulge my sadistic side.

sigh, cuffing and torturing. happy.gif

Now im playing KOTOR2 as a bad Jedi..
its funny how the further you go to the Dark Side the sicker you look.
SuperSaiyanStoner
ooh ooh, dont spoil any of it!I been wanting to get that just not had the cash!
Douglas Nicol
Picked up a few things from my local Gamestation as they are cutting the price of some software.

The Escalation expansion for Joint Operations:Typhoon Rising, a sorta Battlefield 1942 style game from the makers of the Delta Force and Black Hawk Down games.

Tribes:Vengeance, another FPS.

Sherlock Holmes and the case of the Silver Earring. A point and click. I loved the two Holmes games made by Electronic Arts years ago, unfortunately neither will work on XP, but this is another Holmes game by another developer.

Do not get the new leisure suit larry, it sucks. Nowt like the good ol' daze
