I'm about to have another quick run through Max Payne 2 before I order myself a new game.

Another convert!  Ive posted an awful lot from mine, currently on the PC though because the longer posts are just so much quicker with a keyboard.  I own Wipeout Pure and Metal Gear Acid but I'm currently play Ridge Racer - a friend loaned me it.  I thought I might as well complete that classic PS title than go for something else.  Oh and Metal Gear Acid ain't that great by the by.
*

Yeah MGA didn't look like it was gonna float my boat. Hardly any of them did to be honest so I ended up only getting Ridge Racer (which is smart). It was between that and Wipeout but I remember getting pretty bored of Wipeout 3 long before the end. I'll get it eventually though because it's pretty. Played anything else you'd recommend? I'm waiting on a copy of Shutokou Battle at the moment, currently winging it's way from Japan. I loved it on the DC and am intrigued to see it in action on the PSP.

Still knee deep in World of Warcraft, nearly up to Level 40 - when I can buy a horse! Exciting!

MediEvil Resurrection, pretty excellent adventure game with Tom Baker doing the voice of Death. Ace.

I got WipEout Pure today, stunning graphics, good gaming. As soon as I hook my PSP up to the PC I'll be downloading stuff.

Ridge Racer (I'm on the Pro Tour), Wipeout Pure (just goofing around because it's not really a racing game to be taken seriously) and Metal Gear Acid (there isn't even a "Snake... Snake... SNAKE!!!" very poor).

I've also had a quick few games of Virtua Tennis - but I don't own it so I can't really comment on all aspects of it. It's quite good actually, I'd recommend it if you get sick of racing games but still want a little competitive fun. As far as other games go I will have to check out the new Mortal Combat when it comes out. I really want to find Tekken on the PSP, but I haven't seen it anywhere.
whitey
What do you make of the video functions? I'm quite impressed to be honest. I got all of the second series of 15 Storeys High onto the memory stick which should see me through a week's worth of lunch breaks. I know Sony have slightly crippled the thing in terms of quality but they're perfectly watchable, much better than I had been led to believe.

I may well cave and pick up MediEvil even though it looks a little bit lame, just to break up the racing. But then its not long now til GTA comes out and that should render all the other games redundant.
Ingram
I do like the look of all the clips I have played so far quality wise. As for its versatility, it can only play mpg4 and avi, it could be better. The fact that it is able to go online is enough reason for it to be able to play stuff like .mpg and .wmv - the latter probably being more difficult as a windows format. Anyway I have a converter and a USB cable so I am fine for now. I will just have to get a bigger memory card soon 1Gb or 2Gb sounds about right.

I remember all the rumours that there was going to be a HardDrive installed at the last minute. That would have been the sex.
whitey
You can get about three and a half hours on a 1Gb card at 29.97fps 712kbps. It won't do avi files will it? As for the UMD movies they'll either have to be cheaper or my favourite film ever if I'm going to pick em up. I got Ghostbusters today. Skint menu (no chapter menu?) but top notch quality.
Ingram
My free copy of Donnie Darko on UMD is winging its way to me at the moment - after giving that a watch I will be able to throw in my two cents on the matter. However if I get a decent memory card I think it will be more a case of ripping from DVD etc and then encoding them to mp4 instead of buying UMD's. I like being able to buy copious amounts of DVDs too much to start buying other things with my hard earned (well... earned) cash.

From where? I've got a free copy of Spidey 2 coming. I'll probably pick up Akira when it comes out as well. There are a handful of films that I feel it would be worth owning on the format but not many.

Ahh yes I'm getting the Spidey 2 as well, the yourpsp.com thing? I got Donnie Darko free with my PSP only it wasn't at extra cost (so therefore not a bundle) it was just chucked in while stocks lasted - they didn't so Play is sending me a copy now.

I've been playing the PC Engine versions of R-Type and Gradius. On my PSP.

The Civilization IV release date has been moved forward: it will be out before the end of October!

If I suddenly disappear you'll know what I'm up to.
Omniscia
Ooo, that's great news, Chapman! Thanks for the heads-up!

We can only hope it will be a greater leap forward for the series than Civilization 3, which (for me, anyway) played more like some full-priced graphics upgrade to Civilization 2 than a proper game in its own right.
Chapman Baxter
Oh, I loved Civ III. It wasn't perfect by any means, but I sank god-knows how many hours into playing it. The buzz about IV has been very good so far - I'm really looking forward to it.
Omniscia
I never said I never liked Civ 3 -- and you never said I said such a thing -- because that would be a patent falsehood. Indeed, I quite enjoy[ed] it.

My point is simply that I was somewhat disappointed that it wasn't as much of an improvement upon Civ 2 as Civ 2 was upon the original. It was by no means a step backwards, but at the same time it was not a significant step forwards.

I can't see the big deal to be honest. One of our designers got one months ago, which I had a look at and thought "meh", and quickly forgot about it.

I suppose it's all about how attracted you are to the concept of a next generation handheld. If you live for consoles and only play games at home then I doubt the PSP is for you.
maian
I quite like the idea of them since I've always been a fan of handheld gaming (my collection of the various generations of Game Boy will attest to this) but the graphics on the PSP are brilliant for a handheld, plus there are the other cool features as well.

But then again, not many of the games interest me all that much since I generally choose to play games at home rather than on a bus where I get interrupted by other people and whatnot. Plus I do have an iPod, DVD player etc at home anyway so maybe it would be a bit pointless to own one to do things that I only ever really do at home anyway.

You can't deny that the display's a thing of beauty (for a handheld). Since I got mine loaded with a few emulators, I haven't played any of the commercial games I have mind you.

Thats what I have been studying all day!

Might just get a PSP to play it, no multiplay though, or swimming, or climbing, but some excellent action by the looks of it/movies

I got my PSP on release day, I think its cast a spell on me, I love it. Although I cant afford any games, so I only have Lumines and Wipeout.

Lumines: Loved Rez, love lumines, more addictive than Tetris maybe?

Wipeout: Never played a wipeout game before, am hooked now, my pursuit of gold medals may cut me off from notmal conversation at the smoking shelter though...

Copied DVD's onto it, lovely, Bought House of Flying Daggers for it, even more lovely, waiting for FREE spidey 2, meh.

*ahem*... The Revolution Controller.

I have lately been playing Stronghold Crusader, I played it for real but had to return the game. I've downloaded a demo for now off the net.
Nonus Aequilibrium
Been playing through Fahrenheit the past couple of days. The gameplay itself is a bit cheesy (mostly just button bashing or wiggling the mouse in patterns), but it's a good story that keeps changing based on the decisions you make. It's also interesting to play the game from completely conflicting perspectives too. You start off as the murderer, trying to cover everything up, and when you've left the scene, you play the part of the detectives assigned to the case to catch him, and it keeps swapping between the characters.
super_horse
I've just downloaded the new age of empire 3 demo its pretty good, same sort of game play as the last 2 but it looks very different with new 3-d characters

I can't believe no ones given any feedback on the Revolution controller! I think it's a very brave move by Nintendo and it could be a very original way to play games, use it as a sword in Zelda for example.

The thing is although a very brave move can you imagine having to move your arm around to control your games. if you have a small TV it could cause a few problems.
Still it looks pretty amazing.

The videos for Metal gear solid 4 look pretty cool, nice to see Snake still has it in him, even when he has a senior citizen bus pass.

I can't be the only one who wants to see Tekken on the PSP... I need it. Dammit I don't wanna play racing games anymore give me some beat 'em up style action!

Right. Am £5 short of being able to afford Madden 2006, but have 2 games i want to trade in (Madden 2005 and Need for Speed Underground 2), so I will keep some store credit on one and trade the other for some cold hard cash. Then I will deposit said cash plus the other £19 in the bank where I have £5, then go home, visit a magic place called Play.com and order the bizzitch.

Then i will take a photo of me playing to counter Punkass' taunting bitchiness.

Roll on tomorrow.

I really liked that game. I want to play the sequel but my pc is a bit broken.

I finished Majora's Mask and now I'm playing Metroid Prime 2. It's quite good, gameplay wise for example but could do with a more exciting and engaging story. I suppose it's not really that kind of game though.

Worms world party has got me in its grip at the mo!

Jedi Games are cool, specially the multiplayer, you can download characters from the films too, get Obi wan (old and young) and Vader etc. Cool, cool stuff. Just make sure your opponet has the same skins or you are just some crappy guy on their screen

First thing I thought was "that cable that connects the two halves is WAY too short". I don't think it's possible to give much feedback on it because it's one of those things you have no idea how good it'll be till you try it. I'm intrigued by it, but I would have thought something like that should come as a kind of alternative controller, not as the main thing. I can't imagine playing something like a first person shooter effectively or comfortably with that thing.

Has anyone seen any of the Metal Gear Solid 4 screenshots for PS3. He's all old and grey (equipped with moustache) it's obviously an interesting take on the franchise. But i want to know when the story will follow on from sons of liberty with that whole metal gear arsenal plot.

Give me something as pure and simple as Tekken and I won't care if it wears my PSP down. Holding 'X' and moving the analog stick is getting boring. Although Virtua Tennis arrived today, I finally can give my friend his copy back, I still want something like that. VT and MGA will only keep me occupied for so long... I need GTA too.

(I will take everything bad back about racing games when Gran Turismo comes out, but that's too far away for me to care at present)
