I've only played the first few levels so there might be more features/gameplay variations available. Basically, you run around as one of the Warriors and beat the crap out of rival gangs and police officers. Lots of move variations and the hits look brutal. Aside from dishing out beatings you also have to earn money. You can do this by wrecking stuff, stealing car stereos, break into shops and mug people. Plus the story mode is 2 player. There's vs mode with a load of different fight types including a 9 on 9 rumble with one player controlled character per side and a load of computer controlled bots. Kicks ass hardcore. Going over to my mates to play it tonight.

Half-Life 2: Lost Coast is now available for play for all Half-Life 2 owners.
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, a single-player level custom-created to showcase High-Dynamic Range lighting (HDR) in the Source engine, is available now to all owners of HL2. As a technology showcase, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast's system requirements are very high. During installation, Steam will prompt you if your system does not meet the recommended configuration
It think it "requires" 2.3 ghz processor, a gig of memory and a video card that supports DirectX9. It looks great regardless (and it's free if you already own HL2).

I played it on my PC at work which was below the requirement (it needs a 2.9GHz pc actually, and this one is a 2.8GHz)... This PC has 2 GB ram which helps, but it only has a DirectX 8 graphics card so HDR doesn't work, which is the entire point of the "game". I'm going to try it out when I get home, since mine should deal with it easily (Athlon 3800, 1GB ram and a 6800 Ultra). HDR is not exactly new to me anyway.

The latest Sony bullshit.120 fps! Wow! Yeah, probably in the front end menu or some retro arcade games. Gamespot pointed out that no TV is actually capable of displaying at 120 frames per second yet, but more importantly, I think, is that frame rates above about 70 fps make absolutely no difference whatsoever. The human eye cannot tell any noticeable difference in animation once the frame rate goes above that number. So if they're running games at 120 fps, it makes you wonder what they're sacrificing to get it to that, and why didn't they use the extra cycles to put more detail into their game? Or more complex AI? Or any number of things. I can't believe the utter rubbish they keep spouting out all the time.

Indeed Nonus, I think its 75 the limit for the eye, but don't quote me on that.
All the companys in the little console war are playing "I've got the biggest shoes" because they think it matters, I'm sure where that war will be won is with the quality of the games released at the same time of the machine, Microsoft seem to have noticed that and are putting a big push behind that aspect.
I'm easily please though, I tend to go with whichever company signs up the licenses to Final Fantasy and/or Resident Evil.

There's been a few things in the gaming press over the last few days about the scariest games ever since it's nearly Halloween, and I didn't think it deserved it's own thread, so I thought I'd ask here:
What is the scariest moment in a game in your opinion?
For me, the moment in a game that scared me the most was in The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time when I first encountered the redeads under the Kakariko Village graveyard. They are fairly scary in general, but when they see you and they scream at you and Link stops moving, it's truly quite horrifying. Though not as panic-inducing as when the latch onto your face and try to kill you. They really scared me as a kid.

There were some quite unnerving bits in Eternal Darkness as well, not so much actual things that attacked you, though some were horrible to encounter, but the whole 'Insanity Meter' thing. For those who don't know about it, it was a system whereby every time the player encountered an enemy or something horrifying, their sanity would take a beating until strange things started happening such as the Gamecube'turning itself off', bugs crawling across the screen, the characters' heads explding at random. It really had a creepy atmosphere.
And Resident Evil, dear me that gave me nightmares. Especially the remake, which took the general horror of the original and made it far prettier (or uglier, depending on your point of view).

It didn't scare me, but Killer 7 demented my mind. "I am the True Mask"??? What the fuck?
Resi 2 when the arms come through the boarded up windows shat me up. The second time on the way back past them was an even bigger suprise.
Been a while since I jumped while playing a game. The only thing that scares me now is dying at the end of a hard level.
Played more Warriors. Sweet as hell. Did a mission where I was being chased across rooftops. The gameplay totally changed, the camera went to a side view and I had to just run and jump across the gaps without being cought. Love the variation between levels.
Played, enjoyed and finished Tony Hawk American Wasteland over the weekend. Found it really easy, even on the hardest difficulty. Still got Classic mode to do, but even that seems easy from what I've played. Still a good game though.

No 360 version to my knowledge. If you havn't seen the film then a lot of the game will make no sense.
The film rules in my opinion. Made in the 70's about "gang culture". Violent by the standards of the time, but very tame now. Mostly love it for the cheese factor. If your lucky you might find a copy of the old dvd for £5. They've just released a new version with deleted scenes and extra which is £17ish. Definitely worth a watch.

Hmm, just been playing Age of Empires 3... I played through the tutorial, which teaches you all about building a base, then dumps you into the first level in which you already have a base, thus making the tutorial useless, and are getting attacked by a seemingly endless stream of enemies which slaughter everything you have in seconds. Then you've got stupid AI that completely ignores you, or AI which rushes off alone and get themselves killed before you've noticed they've come out of the barracks. Oh, and your castle walls don't actually seem to prevent people shooting you from the other side. That has to be the most abysmal start to a game I've played in years.
