IVE GOT SOUL CALIBUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cant describe the quality of this game. Tons of 1 player modes. Create a character is the greatest thing know to man. Everyone should buy this game.

Kingdom Hearts- Quality shizzle. Good buy. Played it twice.
Star Ocean- Its okay but get stupidly hard toward the end. Irritating voice acting and slow storyline.

Christmas will consist of me mostly going over to my mates house to play his 360. Apparently built into the console is a patch which upgrades Halo 1 & 2 to 1.5 and 2.5 with improved graphics and tweaks. Will be going hardcore for that I'm sure.
Got a nice 8 player LAN for Halo 2 lined up on Saturday. Got a free house so I'm getting loads of people over to get stoned and play the night away.

Oh it is good. In fact it's the best game ever*. I'm quite liking this quote from a review:

"Simply put, Perfect Dark Zero’s multiplayer is the best singular Live experience ever. It features an incredible breadth of options and gametypes, all of which work flawlessly."

Given that I was multiplayer programmer, I'll take that as a compliment  biggrin.gif  cool.gif .
*and I'm not just saying that because I worked on it.  tongue.gif

By the way Nonus, you rock. Perfect Dark was one of my favourite N64 games and this one's so much better, thankyou Nonus.

So, anyone here willing to play me at Mario Kart DS near the end of this year?
Online Mario Kart = Heaven.

You only have to wait until next Friday...

I desperately want an Xbox360, so much I may have to sell practically all my games... is it worth it though?

Depends, have you reserved it? Cos what with the fact that a near-simultaneous console launch is very difficult and shortages are very likely, then you may have to wait a few months, by which point (typically) the price will probably have dropped.

Probably will have, unless Microsoft wants a Dreamcast on it's hands.

Hmm, all soggy tongue.gif

The Dreamcast was good, but it hit the market too early and everyone just waited for the PS2 to be released. A different launch and a (much) better marketing strategy and things may have turned out differently.

Everyone was waiting for PS2 because of all those fake demos they kept showing of it and all the bullshit sony kept coming out with. Now that sounds familiar...

Heh the ps3 is gonna suck uber balls, the controller is so stupid huh.gif. Although it wont sell as much as it should the rev will defiently be the best next gen console.

Whoever said Dreamcast was the best, you're so very right, and Zedan, I envy your Halo 2 LAN party, its more fun playing multiplayer when the other people are in the room with you. I don't actually know that many people who play halo, best I can ever manage is 4, and we normally go on Live to play others. Mind you, back in the days of original Halo, we used to have 2 v 2 bouts a LOT! Them were the days. Playing Halo now it seems a bit clunky and wrong, thats when you realise how many little tweaks they made to Halo 2.

I was also going to say, I'd never buy a playstation, but then I have got a PSP so I suppose I would be lieing. However, I would never buy a big Sony console. They do have some nice exclusive titles, and now that they've secured Soul Calibur I'm practically spitting teeth, but I still prefer the Xbox.

Another thing, someone mentioned to me about some new networking thing for the PSP. Haven't had a chance to look into it yet, anyone know about it? Apparently you get a PIN from www.yourpsp.com ? Could this be like DS online service? That would be nice.

Constantly playing 4 player 2v2 halo 2. Used to be as much as 5 days a week.
I should be aquiring a Dreamcast soon enough. Mine got nicked years ago. Going to try and get Shen Mu 1 and 2 for a decent price, a near impossible task.

Who ever said that Microsoft will have to cut 360 prices otherwise it'll be another Dreamcast should think back a bit. The Dreamcast came out with a realease price of £200 or £150 which is stupidly cheap for a new console. Dreamcast never had a chance because of the binge drinking idiots who will buy anything with the PS brand on it just to play Fifa. Appealing to the lowest common denominator is Sony's specialty. That and the fact that Sega couldnt market their way out of a paper bag.

I'm interested in Mario Kart DS but I'm going to wait till know more about it before getting it. I hated the GC version and if the DS version is like that I'll give it a miss. Give me the N64 Mario Kart any day.

Are Shenmue 1 and 2 worth a bit then? May have to sell my copies, haven't played them in ages. My dreamcast doesn't work as well as it once did sadly, it is a bit old now. And I've got so many peripherals for it too, mouse, k/b, fishing controller, gun... That fishing controller rocks biggrin.gif

Actually you can get it for a few quid on ebay...

Hell, I'm still perfectly happy with my PS2. But that may just be because my copy of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistance has arrived. I love Hideo Kojima. In a purely platonic way of course.

I wasn't saying that the reason that the Dreamcast failed was because it was expensive, just that the 360 will have to have it's price slashed or no one will buy it and it will become this generation's Dreamcast. All the pieces are in place for it to suffer a similar fate: early release, people being more excited about the next Sony console being released than the 360 (According to a recent poll), general apathy and a high price (some reckon bundles could be as high as £720, but I reckon that's a gross exaggeration).

I'm not a Microsoft fan so I don't really care either way, but I'd like to see Sony get taken down a peg or two.
Punkass
Well obviously people want it from the crazyness of last night/this morning. As I saw on the news yesterday, the PS3 is actually supposed to cost more than the XBOX 360 is. My buddy made a point that they will be releasing Halo 3 the same month PS3 is set to go out...sneaky bastards. Like maian said, I really could'NT care less, I am more of PC guy myself.
As far as prices are concerned (here in the States):
Premium package (with hard drive, wireless, etch): $400.00
Basic Package: $300.00

Just checked on e-bay and saw one with one minute left bid up to $1,275.00.

Edited: Sorry!

People can be a bit strange, and others can be right manipulative bastards. Also, pre-ordering might not have guaranteed a console due to the demand.

The first shipment of 360s were sold months ago. Even if you preordered the chances of getting one on Day 1 were quite slim.

Hey, come on now, its still early here! tongue.gif Nonus said it. Several companies pissed people off because they pre-sold all these copies, but only got very few in. So they would still get theirs, but it could be up until 5 shipments or later...which leads into next year. A guy next to me at a store said he pre-ordered one for his kids for Christmas, but found out he would not get one until January. So he was going to wait out all night to make sure he got one for them for the holiday.
The store I went to only got 10 in, Wal-Mart next to it got 10, Best Buy got 25. Stores were clearly announcing how many they got in. The Wal-Mart by my parents house, they only got 2 in, but the 30 people in line would not leave even though they knew (this was happening all over the place...I guess wishful thinking). wacko.gif
NiteFall
All of which is why I'm glad that one of my best friends is the manager of a games store and has allowed me to fully pay for my 360 in advance and have it delivered to my home by him (it's on his way home) as soon as they come in.
Dorf
It's probably been said here already so I'll appologise in advance for the repetition, but this is a very deliberate ploy by the companies now to ensure they "Sell out on debut day" it's a very annoying strategy that will no doubt work and once again prove you can treat your customers like crap and they'll still buy your product.

I'm going nowhere near the glorified SNES personally, all thier 'new high tech functions' have been working on my PC for a decade, and while it may be more expensive to keep upto date it also has other uses.

Got a small gripe with everyone loving HALO so much, while it was the best shooter around on a console, it was still (IMO) lacking compared to a number of ones on the PC, and it was certainly not good enough to become the monster it went on to be. Plus I can't grasp how people can be happy with the aiming on console shooters where its clunky with the joystick and on a large number of them it'll do the final few millimeteres for you to compensate.

I'll still be using consoles for my fighting and sports sims because I think a pad is better for that, but I shant give a monkeys when the new consoles arrive. This turned into a bit of a rant didn't it, ah well lets not fall into the old PC vs Console argument because it's good people use whatever they prefer.
Punkass
I agree with all that you said, Dorf.

Edit: Well I meant with the Console/PC gaming (I know nothing about company conspiracy theories)

Sorry but that's absolute rubbish. You've got nothing whatsoever to back up that claim.
Dorf
I'm sure I'd read it a couple of places, but I guess I'd taken thier words for it, was going to try and find them for you but they will only be speculation themselves so sorry I guess that should have been worded as purely an opinion (which I can see it wasn't very well).

-Edit-

Just noticed that the following should've been 'many' or 'most' as I probably don't know all the functions.
QUOTE

maian
The main reason why all the consoles have sold out so soon is beacuse Microsoft have been rather silly and gone for a nearly simultaneous worldwide launch and therefore haven't been able to produce as many consoles for each territory as they probably would have liked (I think I heard someone at work say that there are something like 400,000 for much of Europe, though that isn't official) and because they are releasing it worldwide at the same time they aren't able to do the usual thing of hitting one territory, preparing for the next by producing loads and also replenishing the old territories, instead they have to go around the world with a few machines and then try and catch-up with demand.

Hence the reason why no one has ever done a simultaneous launch before, it's a bit of a logistical nightmare.
WiseJoeyD
While ineterested to see the new console, since 99% of us lack HDTV it'll probably not be as overwhelming as I'd like ot imagine.

I've got two TVs on my desk, one just a standard tv and the other a 28 inch widescreen HDTV. Side by side the difference is enough to make it well worth buying a HDTV, but not quite so much that you'd feel really hard done by with a standard TV. The prices are falling on HDTVs now, although they're still nowhere near as widespread as they are in the states.

A few weeks ago we were playing through Perfect Dark Zero on a 48 inch Hi Def DLP tv with enormous surround sound speakers... Now *that* was cool.

Just getting into Far Cry: Instincts. Brilliant game so far and thankfully not as bastard hard as the PC version. I'm glad they had the imagination not to attempt a straight port from the PC and create a different campaign. The feral abilities are kinda cool too.
