QUOTE (Twin @ Nov 22 2005, 09:18 PM)
just finished Star Wars Battlefront II.
i never owned the first one so cant compair but it was dam good fun, and the space battles are a top laugh!
two player co-op is cool although my housemate does seem alot worst at the whole game thing than i so i need to get some well sorted mates round for a evenings empire smashing.  biggrin.gif

Hoth battle..............top notch cool.gif
*

It's a fun game , especialy the multi-player assault mode on Mos-Eisley where it's every possible jedi VS all the Sith Lords. Great. biggrin.gif

The space battles are ok , but there's only one or two different layouts of the battle , which gets a bit dull after a while.

Hoth is fun , but still doesn't quite beat the recreation of it on Gamecube's Rogue Squadren.
romero_zombie
I been playing super mario all stars on super nes recently smile.gif (Cant be bothered setting up my xbox ps2 or gc mellow.gif ) . Other than that ragnarok online as usual.
cueballthedog
have gone back to grand theft auot vice city

i have a tendcy not to be able to complete games on the ps2 in fact i have never completed one game on it.

i also have been playing street fighter 2 turbo on the snes.
its seems games on this are extremley difficult than i remember them being especially gouls and ghosts which i could complete when io was 12 but now i cant even make it past the fist level

Just getting into Far Cry: Instincts. Brilliant game so far and thankfully not as bastard hard as the PC version. I'm glad they had the imagination not to attempt a straight port from the PC and create a different campaign. The feral abilities are kinda cool too.

I don't think they had a choice, really. A lot of the PC version relied on massive amounts of vegetation, which the xbox didn't have the power to cope with.

Dorf- the reason why I prefer a pad for shooting games is simple, I dont have the internet at home. As such I have no reason to play any FPS on my PC and as a result I'm rubbish with a mouse. You can turn the auto aim feature off on Halo as well, not all of us are cheap. The beauty a console is multiplayer. Playing against somebody who is actually next to you beats online anyday.

cueballthedog- you've never finished a PS2 game? What games do you actually play?

Sean of the dead- favorite character at the moment is Asteroth, his new moves in Calibur 3 are sweet. He's a true beast. On SC2 I could at one time play compitently with Nightmare, Cervantes, Raphael, Mitsurugi, Asteroth, Berzerker, Voldo and Spawn.
Speaking of Soul Calibur, check this out for obsession. My friend is crazy about Mitsurugi. He was the only character he played as on SC2. He loves him so much that he actually got to 150+hours just playing as Mitsurugi. He had over 2000 fights with him and a stupid win ratio. As you might imagine he was a bastard to play against.

Got a Sega Saturn with 10 games on Ebay yesterday. Got some real classics. Virtua Cop 2 with 2 lightguns, Sonic Jam, Sonic R, Athelete Kings pluss some more I cant think of right now. Looked at getting a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga. £90... think I'll give it a miss.

Heh, I like Soul Calibur 2.
*

Me to. Nightmare kicks ass.

Also I got King Kong yetserday and its really good, If a little short. I'm 63% through it already but still its worth a couple of replays so alls well. I'm just waiting for GUN to come out on Gamecube
zeden
Sean of the Dead- just looked at a review for Mario Kart Ds and by the sounds of things I will be getting it. We'll definitely have to play some time. I'll let you know once I've got it and found somewhere local that has a wireless network.
maian
I'd be up for online Mario Kart after Christmas if anyone wants to play since I'll be at home without wireless over Christmas and at the moment I'm at Uni with wireless but without my DS. Tis a conumdrum no doubt.

There's still no beating a mouse though. Despite the fact that I've just worked on a console FPS, I still think that in any game, take two equal players and give one of them a mouse and one of them a pad and the player with the mouse will absolutely annihilate the one with the pad.
Sean of the Dead
Zeden, maian, I'll be up for a game smile.gif

Cool. I'm looking forward to Mario Kart DS, i've heard really good things about it and it looks pretty great for a DS game

Not if my friend Tom has the mouse...
maian
If you had a fight with a mouse and a joypad though, the joypad would win every time; more weight and reach. Although it wouldn't work with a wireless one, you'd only have one shot and then have to try and retrieve it from a canal.

Its basically a really old woman that plays games, like 10 hours a day i think it said on the video. If she was just about 50 years younger wub.gif

I would just like to add, I've seen the first 8 or so minutes of PDZ and it looks incredible.

I haven't been in there. It looked a bit weak.

I'm actually really enjoying Metal Gear Acid right now. The ultra-rigid structure is a lovely change after the eventual open-ended slight boredom (but initial elation) of GTA:LCS.

star wars lego ( although i did nearly clock this but i turned my playstation off while it was saving so lost the saved game)

I been playing Virtua Cop 2 for the Saturn recently, despite it not being very good. I can just pick it up and shoot some virtua people and stop once I've killed enough.

I love the noise the Saturn makes as the console logo comes up and falls into place. Reminds me of less stressful times.

The dreamcast has a nice swirly noise too, and if its a sega game you get the SE-GA bit too. And the PSP has quite a nice little chime when you power it up, but the Xbox, grrrrruuunnnnn... god i hate that noise.
zeden
My Saturn should be with me by Tuesday. Cant wait. Really looking forward to Sonic Jam. Its got a ton of Japanese adverts for the old Sonic games which are wicked.
"SONIC-A DA HEDGEHOGUE!"
Athelete Kings is going to be a proper laugh as well. All hail Jeffery, the greatest afro on earth.

beatoswald- Virtua Cop 2 crap? Cant think of many lightgun games which are better to be honest. Simple fun, cant beat it.

cueballthedog- how far have you actually gotten on San Andreas? Have you used the jet fighter yet? Your really missing out on some good stuff if you dont do the missions.
Rah
I'm just about to fall off my chair towards FFX

Perhaps I was too harsh. I didn't mean to suggest it was crap, just compared to many modern games a bit simplistic. It is very short and in my opinion Time Crisis is better.

I used to have a set path for the first 10 levels of GOldeneye (N64).

Woefully, I tried it the other day and to my horror I got KILLED on the frigging Dam level and then again near the beginning of Facility!

My god! I'm truly an adult now!

I knew where you worked/still sometimes work ages ago, I just looked at the clues and assesed the situation before cross-referencing the location of Rare HQ with your location... I'm very jealous...

Ow, that bullet hurt a lot. Microsoft don't mess around.

It wasn't all that great.

Really, it wasn't.

Seriously.

Well, I suppose it was kinda great. To be honest, at first I was more excited about seeing inside the building, it's quite cool to walk past a load of Baftas each morning. But by the end we weren't eactly happy bunnies on account of the hours. Although Nonus was working much more hours than any of us were.

Do you remember the old days of 2-D Lucas Art Adventure Games and stuff like that? I am planning to play the Monkey Island series next year and a burning desire of the Kyrandia-Trilogie and maybe the disc-world-adventure. And I remember the Sam&Max game I never played... Those were the old days...

I loved every point & click adventure, especially Full Throttle & Day of the Tentacle - I'm highly tempted to have a nose on ebay for second hand copies so I can kick Adrian Ripburger's ass once more...

Full Throttle is still in some shops.

Never did play Full Throttle. Got Sam and Max working nicely on my PSP though.

I LOVED pont and click adventures! The broken sword games are still one of my fave games of all time and i have completed all the 2d monkey island games biggrin.gif .(The 3d one sucked)
NiteFall
If you like old-school point and click adventures, then the old Lucasarts sci-fi game Beneath A Steel Sky is now classed as abandonware, so it's now totally legal to download.
