I posted this about two years ago, on the old board, and now I get to do it again. You can expect a lot of posts like that from me: recycled and re-used. It's easier, see?

So, here we have Jeannie's Diary by Eels. A lovely song about unrequited love.

JEANNIE'S DIARY
How does her world spin...
Without me in her nest?
Could there really be
Such happiness?
Oh, she’s got a dark side too...
Even murderous...
But I love that!
Just like her...
I don’t have a chance at writing the book
I just wanna be a page
In Jeannie’s diary
One single page
In Jeannie’s diary

Yes I am intense
Maybe quite obsessed
Everything she does is curious
Oh, she’s going to let me in
I just know it's so
Then again, who do I kid?
I don’t have a prayer for writing the book
I just wanna be a page
In Jeannie’s diary
One single page
In Jeannie’s diary

She could have anything she wants...
So why not me?
She could have anything she dreams...
Oh, to be...
One single page
One single page in Jeannie's dairy...

mmmm i love some oldskoooool Fleetwood Mac...

If I could turn the page
In time then I'd rearrange
Just a day or two
Close my, close my, close my eyes

But I couldn't find a way
So I'll settle for one day
To believe in you
Tell me, tell me , tell me lies

Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies
(Tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies)
Oh, no, no you can't disguise
(You can't disguise, no you can't disguise)
Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies

ALthough I'm not making plans
I hope that you understand
There's a reason why
Close your, close your, close your eyes

No more broken kearts
We're better off apart
Let's give it a try
Tell me, tell me, tell me lies

Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies
(Tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies)
Oh, no, no you can't disguise
(You can't disguise, no you can't disguise)
Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies

If I could turn the page
In time then I'd rearrange
Just a day or two
Close my, close my, close my eyes

But I couldn't find a way
So I'll settle for one day
To believe in you
Tell me, tell me, tell me lies

Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies
(Tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies)
Oh, no, no you can't disguise
(You can't disguise, no you can't diguise)

Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies
(Tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies)
Oh, no, no you can't disguise
(You can't disguise, no you can't disguise)
Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies
(Tell me, tell me lies)

Client - Radio

Life is cruel and then you die,
Can't be bothered to try to survive,
Time will stop the hours fly,
I watch my life slipping by,
They call it news it's not to me,
The worlds a mess on my TV,
I cannot speak I cannot feel,
Everything is nothing to me,

There's no music on my radio,

There's nothing bright to light my day,
No signs to read to show me the way,
I can't escape I'm out of luck,
A bad day I've had enough,
No hope for sleep no hope it seems,
For happiness and comfort dreams,
Another day another wish,
Don't want my life to be like this,

There's no music on my radio,
Turn the radio on

God* bless you ONScotland

Love, love me darlin'
Come and go with me,
Please don't send me
'way beyond the sea;
I need you, darlin',
So come go with me.

Come, come, come, come,
Come into my heart,
Tell me, darlin',
We will never part;
I need you, darlin',
So come go with me.

Yes, I need you,
Yes, I really need you,
Please say you'll never leave me.
Well, say, you never,
Yes, you really never,
You never give me a chance.

Come, come, come, come,
Come into my heart,
Tell me, darlin',
We will never part;
I need you, darlin',
So come go with me.

Come go with me, the Del Vikings

Awww, I love that

Or, y'know... your deity of choice.

One of many beautiful songs by the mighty Bread :

If

If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you,
You're all that's left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.

If a man could be two places at one time,
I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away....

Another Eels song - can you guess I really really like them? This one P.S. You Rock My World comes at the end of a fairly depressing album, and is a lovely spark of happy at the end...

I was at a funeral
The day I realized
I wanted to spend my life with you
Sitting down on the steps at the old post office
The flag was flying at half mast
And I was thinking 'bout how
Everyone is dying
And maybe it is time to live

I don't know where we're going
I don't know what we'll do

Walked in to the thrif-tee
Saw the man with the hollow eyes
Who didn't give me all my change
But it didn't bother me this time
'Cause i know i've only got
This moment
And it's good
I went to the gas station
Old woman honked her horn
Waiting for me to fix her car

I don't know where we're going
I don't know what we'll do

Laying in bed tonight i was thinking
And listening to all the dogs
And the sirens and the shots
And how a careful man tries
To dodge the bullets
While a happy man takes a walk

And maybe it is time to live

This track in on the Album Want 1 by Rufus Wainwright and it just makes me tingle whenever i hear it

Go Or Go Ahead - Rufus Wainwright

Thank you for this bitter knowledge
Guardian angels who left me stranded
It was worth it, feeling abandoned
Makes one hardened but what has happened to love

You got me writing lyrics on postcards
Then in the evening looking at stars
But the brightest of the planets is Mars
What has happened to love?

So I will opt for the big white limo
Vanity fairgrounds and rebel angels
You can't be trusted with feathers so hollow
Your heaven's inventions, steel eyed vampires of love
You see over me, I'll never know
What you have shown to other eyes

Go or go ahead and surprise me
Say you've lead the way to a mirage
Go or go ahead and just try me

Nowhere's now here smelling of junipers
Fell off the hay bales, I'm over the rainbows
But oh Medusa kiss me and crucify
This unholy notion of the mythic power of love
Look in her eyes, look in her eyes
Forget about the ones that are crying
Go or go ahead
Lazlo Woodbine
This is a Ben Folds song that means a lot to me. I went through the same horrible experience as what this song is about.

6am, day after Christmas
I throw some clothes on in the dark
The smell of cold
Car seat is freezing
The world is sleeping
I am numb

Up the stairs to her apartment
She is balled up on the couch
Her Mum and Dad
Went down to Charlotte
They're not home to find us out
And we drive
now that i've found someone
i'm feeling more alone
Than i ever have before

She's a brick and i'm drowning slowly
Off the coast and i'm headed nowhere
She's a brick and i'm drowning slowly

They call her name at 7:30
I pace around the parking lot
Then i walk down to buy her flowers
And sell some gifts that i got
Can't you see
It's not me you're dying for
And she's feeling more alone
Than she ever has before

She's a brick and i'm drowning slowly
Off the coast and i'm headed nowhere
She's a brick and i'm drowning slowly

As weeks went by
It showed that she was not fine
They told me son it's time to tell the truth
She broke down
And i broke down
Coz i was tired of lying

Driving back to her apartment
For the moment we're alone
And she's alone
And i'm alone
Now i know it

She's a brick and i'm drowning slowly
Off the coast and i'm headed nowhere
She's a brick and i'm drowning slowly

Hurray! More Rufus fans! For your enjoyment then, littlemisscheeky, I give you:

Barcelona
The summer sun set a vicious circus
When shadows held the world in place
But today i felt a chill in my apartment's coolest place
Fuggi regal fantasima

The village larks cannot be heard
Cause all the crows got panderers
I can't escape these velvet drapes
Don't want my rings to fall off my fingers
Fuggi regal fantasima

The mirror i find hard to face
Cause i fear it's a long way down
Got to get away from here
Think i know which hemisphere
Crazy me don't think there's pain in barcelona
They dance you round a waltz confound
But i fear it's a long way down
This road
Even if that straw i pulled
And i got to fight that bull
Nothing really does compare to barcelona
Besides in spain don juan's to blame
But i fear it's a long way down
And i fear i won't be around

Got to get away from here
Think i know which hemisphere
Make sure i have all my papers
Laying out my summer clothes
Search for traps in vain like scratching
So my suitcase i can close
Fuggi regal fantasima

(PS - The man, the genius is releasing Want Two in November.)

I quite this little ditty, that I think was originally written by Paul Lennon, but was performed on the Pleasantville Soundtrack by Fiona Apple.

Across The Universe

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind,
Possessing and caressing me
Jai guru de va om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box they
Tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter, shades of earth are ringing
Through my open ears inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a
Million suns and calls me on and on
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

I didn't know Fiona Apple had covered this track too - Rufus Wainwright covered it for the film I Am Sam. It's possibly the only good Beatles song. (Ooo...controversial.)

Not at all - the Beatles are extremely overrated.

I've been listening to Billy Bragg's versions of Woody Guthrie's stuff - I like this one:

All You Fascists

I'm gonna tell all you fascists you may be surprised
The people in this world are getting organized
You're bound to lose, you fascists are bound to lose

Race hatred cannot stop us this one thing I know
Your poll tax and jim crow and greed have got to go
You're bound to lose, you fascists, bound to lose

All of you fascists bound to lose
You fascists bound to lose
All of you fascists bound to lose
You fascists bound to lose
You're bound to lose! you fascists!
Bound to lose

People of every colour marching side by side
Marching across these fields where a million fascists died
You're bound to lose, you fascists bound to lose

I'm going into this battle, and take my union gun
We'll end this world of slavery before this battle's won
You're bound to lose, you fascists, bound to lose
kenickie
This one makes me cry.... sad.gif Read it and weep....

And That's Why - Kenickie

Nobody does what they want doing,
They want something they wouldn't do for you,
Nobody wants to tell the truth,
And if they don't like it they don't do it,

Why does nobody want you?
Why does nobody want you?

Nobody wants you at their party,
On the stairs where you sit lonely,
Nobody comes to look you over,
All that washing all that hoping,

Why does nobody want you?
Why does nobody want you?

It's been said,
There are thousands of places,
None like this one,
When your dead,
There are millions of faces,
How did I get this one?

Nobody wants to see you struggle,
They remember their in trouble,
But you don't want to be a model,
Bed's too big and no-one phones you

Why does nobody want you?
Why does nobody want you?

Nobody wants to look no older,
Stretch my skin 'til it comes open,
You say you don't mind the things they want but,
I know you mind when no-one wants you,

And that's why no-one wants you,
And that's why no-one wants you

I agree, The Beatles are over-rated, but they're still one of the best bands ever! If you don't know about music theory you probably won't have as much respect for them. A lot of their later stuff was ridiculously structured.

If She Wants Me
I wrote a letter on a nothing day
I asked somebody “Could you send my letter away?”
“You are too young to put all of your hopes in just one envelope”
I said goodbye to someone that I love
It’s not just me, I tell you it’s the both of us
And it was hard
Like coming off the pills that you take to stay happy
Someone above has seen me do alright
Someone above is looking with a tender eye
Upon her face, you may think you’re alone but you may think again
If I could do just one near perfect thing I’d be happy
They’d write it on my grave, or when they scattered
my ashes
On second thoughts I’d rather hang about and be there with my best friend
If she wants me

And far away somebody read the letter
He condescends to read the words I wrote about him
And if he smiles, it’s no more than a genius deserves
For all his curious nerve and his passion

I’m going deaf, you’re growing melancholy
Things fall apart, I don’t know why we bother at all
But life is good and “It’s always worth living at least for
a while”

If I could do just one near perfect thing I’d be happy
They’d write it on my grave, or when they scattered
my ashes
On second thoughts I’d rather hang about and be there with my best friend
If she wants me

If you think to yourself “What should I do now?”
Then take the baton, girl, you better run with it
There is no point in standing in the past cause it’s over and done with

I took a book and went into the forest
I climbed the hill, I wanted to look down on you
But all I saw was twenty miles of wilderness so I went home

I prefer knowing about music rather than the theory wink.gif

Ironically, the stuff I do like of theirs is the later work - perhaps I like ridiculous structures!

More Billy Bragg - one of his own songs this time.

Between the Wars

I was a miner
I was a docker
I was a railway man
Between the wars
I raised a family
In times of austerity
With sweat at the foundry
Between the wars

I paid the union and as times got harder
I looked to the government to help the working man
And they brought prosperity down at the armoury
Between the wars

I kept the faith and I kept voting
Not for the iron fist but for the helping hand
For theirs is a land with a wall around it
And mine is a faith in my fellow man
Theirs is a land of hope and glory
Mine is the green field and the factory floor
Theirs are the skies all dark with bombers
And mine is the peace we knew
Between the wars

Call up the craftsmen
Bring me the draughtsmen
Build me a path from cradle to grave
And I'll give my consent
To any government
That does not deny a man a living wage

Go find the young men never to fight again
Bring up the banners from the days gone by
Sweet moderation
Heart of this nation
Desert us not, we are
Between the wars

Billy Bragg - Help Save The Youth Of America

Help save the youth of America
Help save them from themselves
Help save the sun-tanned surfer boys
And the Californian girls

When the lights go out in the rest of the World
What do our cousins say
They're playing in the sun and having fun, fun, fun
Till Daddy takes the gun away

From the Big Church to the Big River
And out to the Shining Sea
This is the Land of Opportunity
And there's a Monkey Trial on TV

A nation with their freezers full
Are dancing in their seats
While outside another nation
Is sleeping in the streets

Don't tell me the old, old story
Tell me the truth this time
Is the Man in the Mask or the Indian
An enemy or a friend of mine

Help save the youth of America
Help save the youth of the world
Help save the boys in uniform
Their mothers and their faithful girls

Listen to the voice of the soldier
Down in the killing zone
Talking about the cost of living
And the price of bringing him home

They're already shipping the body bags
Down by the Rio Grande
But you can fight for democracy at home
And not in some foreign land

And the fate of the great United States
Is entwined in the fate of us all
And the incident at Tschernobyl proves
The world we live in is very small

And the cities of Europe have burned before
And they may yet burn again
And if they do I hope you understand
That Washington will burn with them
Omaha will burn with them
Los Alamos will burn with them

Super Furry Animals - The Man Don't Give A Fuck

Spent some times in stormy weather
Under clouds of my dilemma
Now there's nothing much to do
But sit and rot in front of televisions
Staring back at me
I'm just waiting for the microwaves
To wash me into the sea
You know they don't give a
fuck about anybody else
You know they

Out of focus ideology
Keep the masses from majority
Experts, brain washed, tumble dried
Left to bleed whilst vultures glide

You know they don't give a
fuck about anybody else
You know they

You know they don't give
a fuck about anybody else

Elvis Costello - Shipbuilding

(this was important once)

Is it worth it?
A new winter coat and shoes for the wife
And a bicycle on the boy's birthday
It's just a rumour that was spread around town
By the women and children
Soon we'll be shipbuilding.......
Well I ask you
The boy said "Dad they're going to take me to task, but I'll be back by Christmas"
It's just a rumour that was spread around town
Somebody said that someone got filled in
For saying that people get killed in
The result of this shipbuilding
With all the will in the world
Diving for dear life
When we could be diving for pearls
It's just a rumour that was spread around town
A telegram or a picture postcard
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
Once again
It's all we're skilled in
We will be shipbuilding........

With all the will in the world
Diving for dear life
When we could be diving for pearls.

Badly Drawn Boy - Pissing In The Wind

I've been pissing in the wind
I chance a foolish grin
And dribbled on my chin
And now the ground shifts beneath my feet
The faces that I greet never know my name

Just give me something
I'll take nothing
Just give me something
I'll take nothing

Now the drought is crippled by the rain
That hammers on my pain
We lose ourselves again
But all we need
Is to find a place to look
Our worm is on the hook
A love which dangles free
Lets watch it swim
Against the water's flow
In doubt the courage grows
With no guarantee

Just give me something
I'll take nothing
Just give me something
I'll take nothing

And so it goes
The moral to this tale
As tortoise catches the snail
A strong heart will prevail

It keeps on pumping
It still needs something
Just give it something
I'll take nothing
Just give me something
To keep it pumping
And I'll take nothing
Just give me something
Just give me something
And I'll take nothing

TAKE A BOW
--Madonna

Take a bow, the night is over
This masquerade is getting older
Light are low, the curtains down
There's no one here
There's no one here, there's no one in the crowd
Say your lines but do you feel them
Do you mean what you say when there's no one around? no one around
Watching you, watching me, one lonely star
One lonely star you don't know who you are

I've always been in love with you always with you
I guess you've always known it's true you know it's true
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

Say good-bye bye bye, say good-bye

Make them laugh, it comes so easy
When you get to the part
Where you're breaking my heart breaking my heart
Hide behind your smile, all the world loves a clown
Just make 'em smile the whole world loves a clown
Wish you well, I cannot stay
You deserve an award for the role that you played role that you played
No more masquerade, you're one lonely star
One lonely star and you don't know who you are

I've always been in love with you always with you
I guess you've always known it's true you know it's true
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

Say good-bye bye bye, say good-bye

I've always been in love with you always with you
I guess you've always known it's true you know it's true
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

Say good-bye bye bye, say good-bye

All the world is a stage world is a stage
And everyone has their part has their part
But how was I to know which way the story'd go
How was I to know you'd break
You'd break, you'd break, you'd break
You'd break my heart

I've always been in love with you
I've always been in love with you
Guess you've always known
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

I've always been in love with you always with you
I guess you've always known it's true you know it's true
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

Which Side Are You On?

This government had an idea
And parliament made it law
It seems like it's illegal
To fight for the union any more

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?

We set out to join the picket line
For together we cannot fail
We got stopped by police at the county line
They said, "Go home boys or you're going to jail"

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?

It's hard to explain to a crying child
Why her Daddy can't go back
So the family suffer
But it hurts me more
To hear a scab say Sod you, Jack

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys
Which side are you on?

I'm bound to follow my conscience
And do whatever I can
But it'll take much more than the union law
To knock the fight out of a working man

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?

A New England

I was twenty one years when I wrote this song
I’m twenty two now, but I won’t be for long
People ask when will you grow up to be a man
But all the girls I loved at school
Are already pushing prams

I loved you then as I love you still
Tho I put you on a pedestal,
They put you on the pill
I don’t feel bad about letting you go
I just feel sad about letting you know

I don’t want to change the world
I’m not looking for a new england
I’m just looking for another girl
I don’t want to change the world
I’m not looking for a new england
I’m just looking for another girl

I loved the words you wrote to me
But that was bloody yesterday
I can’t survive on what you send
Every time you need a friend

I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them but they were only satellites
Is it wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you’d care

I don’t want to change the world
I’m not looking for a new england
I’m just looking for another girl

Adorable - Homeboy

Homeboy

Tripping into the back of my mind
And your words like angels crash inside
And a word and a movement and a touch
And a word and a movement and it's all too much
It's all too much

I never understood what it meant to be
I never understood what it meant to be misunderstood
And even if I did, I don't think I'd care less
And even if I did, I don't think I'd care less

You're so beautiful
You're so beautiful
You're so beautiful

I want to drown beneath the waves
I want to dig myself a shallow grave
And hold you up for all to see
I want to cut you up, I want to watch you bleed, ever so slowly

You're so beautiful
You're so beautiful
You're so beautiful
You're so beautiful

I can't follow what I don't believe in
I can't follow what I don't believe in
And that's why there's nothing left of me
'Cause I don't believe in you

You're so beautiful
You're so beautiful
You're so beautiful
You're so beautiful
Doo-doo-doo-doo, you're my homeboy, you're my
homeboy
Doo-doo-doo-doo, you're my homeboy, you're my

Adorable - Glori-fucking-ous

And then I awoke from a dream
I didn't really want to
And then I heard your tiresome scream
I really don't need this
And then you said, "Where's the sun?"
Well, are you really so stupid
And I don't need you or anyone
Oh this feeling is glorious

I've got hope and hate
And I'm feeling kind of great
Kind of great

And now I stand here, just as before
Only maybe more so
And you said you know the score
Well I don't want to know
And there's a whole world outside
That I didn't know about, I don't need it
I don't want you to share your knowledge out
And the feeling's called glorious

And I'm feeling kind of great
Kind of great

It's glorious

Paint A Vulgar Picture

At the record company meeting
On their hands - a dead star
And oh, the plans they weave
And oh, the sickening greed

At the record company party
On their hands - a dead star
The sycophantic slags all say :
"I knew him first, and I knew him well"

Re-issue ! Re-package ! Re-package !
Re-evaluate the songs
Double-pack with a photograph
Extra Track (and a tacky badge)

A-list, playlist
"Please them , please them !"
"Please them !"
(sadly, THIS was your life)

But you could have said no
If you'd wanted to
You could have said no
If you'd wanted to

BPI, MTV, BBC
"Please them ! Please them !"
(sadly this was your life)

But you could have said no
If you'd wanted to
You could have walked away
...Couldn't you ?

I touched you at the soundcheck
You had no real way of knowing
In my heart I begged "Take me with you ...
I don't care where you're going..."

But to you I was faceless
I was fawning, I was boring
Just a child from those ugly new houses
Who could never begin to know

Who could never really know
Oh ...

Best of ! Most of !
Satiate the need
Slip them into different sleeves !
Buy both, and feel deceived

Climber - new entry, re-entry
World tour ! ("media whore")
"Please the Press in Belgium !"
(THIS was your life...)

And when it fails to recoup ?
Well, maybe :
You just haven't earned it yet, baby

I walked a pace behind you at the soundcheck
You're just the same as I am
What makes most people feel happy
Leads us headlong into harm

So, in my bedroom in those 'ugly new houses'
I danced my legs down to the knees
But me and my 'true love'
Will never meet again ...

At the record company meeting
On their hands - at last ! - a dead star !
But they can never taint you in my eyes
No, they can never touch you now

No, they cannot hurt you, my darling
They cannot touch you now
But me and my 'true love'
Will never meet again

Upside Down

We're moving 'round and 'round
Can't hear a single sound
And when I hit the ground
I heard a ringing sound
Uh-huh-huh
I heard a ringing sound
And my head hit the ground
Uh-huh-huh
Inside I'm upside down

You live with so much carelessness
'Cause no one takes you serious
That makes you feel so dangerous
You wish you never was
But you can't see

And if you feel there's no one else
That you're all alone, you're by yourself
Your life is like a broken shell
It doesn't really matter to me
Doesn't matter to me
Doesn't matter to me
Knowing you can't see

Inside I feel so bad
So low I feel so sad
Feels like I'm going mad
Best friend I've ever had
Uh-huh-huh
Feels like I'm going mad
Best friend I've ever had
Uh-huh-huh
So low I feel so sad

You live with so much carelessness
'Cause no one takes you serious
And now you think you're dangerous
You never was but you can't see
And if you feel there's no one else
You're all alone and by yourself
Your life is like a broken shell
It doesn't really matter to me
Doesn't matter to me
Doesn't matter to me
Knowing you can't see

Walk Away

And in the summer when the clouds show through
I might go the same way too if
You and I could talk together
Well what am I supposed to do with
You and I would walk together
Then with always close around and
Now you gaze toward the doorway
When the weather comes falling down

CHORUS
And when the rain comes down
Would you choose to walk or stay
Would you choose to walk
Would you choose to stay
Would you
Walk walk walk walk walk away
(away) (away) away away (away) away
away away walk away
Would you choose to walk away

And when the rain comes down
Would you choose to walk or stay
Would you choose to walk
Would you choose to stay
Would you
Walk walk walk walk walk away

Though when the day is nearly
Through I might see the same way too if
You would name the things
That bring you down on me so I could say it's
Not quite true if you don't really
Know or understand the circumstance
Behind then I might clear your
Mind and you won't have to go so

CHORUS

Sweet And Tender Hooligan

He was a sweet and tender hooligan, hooligan
And he said that he'd never, never do it again
And of course he won't (oh, not until the next time)

He was a sweet and tender hooligan, hooligan
And he swore that he'll never, never do it again
And of course he won't (oh, not until the next time)

Poor old man
He had an "accident" with a three-bar fire
But that's OK
Because he wasn't very happy anyway
Poor woman
Strangled in her very own bed as she read
But that's OK
Because she was old and she would have died anyway
DON'T BLAME

The sweet and tender hooligan, hooligan
Because he'll never, never, never, never, never, never do it again
(not until the next time)

Jury, you've heard every word
So before you decide
Would you look into those "Mother me" eyes
I love you for you, my love, you my love
You my love, you my love
Jury, you've heard every word
But before you decide
Would you look into those "Mother me" eyes
I love you for you my love, you my love
I love you just for you, my love
Don't blame

The sweet and tender hooligan, hooligan
Because he'll never, never do it again
And ...
"In the midst of life we are in death ETC."
Don't forget the hooligan, hooligan
Because he'll never, never do it again
And ...
"In the midst of life we are in death ETC."

ETC! ETC! ETC! ETC!
IN THE MIDST OF LIFE WE ARE IN DEATH ETC!
ETC! ETC! ETC! ETC!
IN THE MIDST OF LIFE WE ARE IN DEBT ETC!

Just will you free me ?
Will you find me ?
Will you free me ?
Will you find me ?
Will you free me, free me, free me, free me, free me, free me, free me ?
Jury will you free me ?
Will you find me ?
Will you free me ?
Will you find me ?
How will you find me, find me, find me, find me, find me, find me, find me ?
Oh ETC! ETC! ETC! ETC! ETC! ETC!
ETC! ETC! ETC! ETC!
IN THE MIDST OF LIFE WE ARE IN DEBT ETC!
Oh ... oh ...

Ahem...

I'd like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees and snow-white turtle doves

I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I'd like to hold it in my arms and keep it company
I'd like to see the world for once
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills "Ah, peace throughout the land"

(That's the song I hear)
I'd like to teach the world to sing (that the world sings today)
In perfect harmony

(Lead singer and background singers singing simultaneously)

I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony

Id like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees and snow-white turtle doves

The Carpenters - Yeseterday Once More

When I was young

I?d listened to the radio

Waitin? for my favorite songs

Waiting they played I?d sing along

It made me smile

Those were such happy times

And not so long ago

How I wondered where they?d gone

But they?re back again

Just like a long lost friend

All the songs I loved so well

(*) every sha-la-la-la

Every wo-wo-wo

Still shines

Every shing-a-ling-a-ling

That they?re starting to sing?s

So fine

When they get to the part

Where he?s breakin? her heart

It can really make me cry

Just like before

It?s yesterday once more

Lookin? back on how it was

In years gone by

And the good times that I had

Makes today seem rather sad

So much has changed

It was songs of love that

I would sing to then

And I?d memorize each word

Those old melodies

Still sound so good to me

As they melt the years away

Repeat (*)

All my best memories

Come back clearly to me

Some can even make me cry

Just like before

It?s yesterday once more

Sing

Sing, sing a song

Sing out loud

Sing out strong

Sing of good things not bad

Sing of happy not sad

(*) sing, sing a song

Make it simple to last

Your whole life long

Don?t worry that it?s not

Good enough for anyone

Else to hear

Just sing, sing a song

La la la la la

La la la la la la...

Sing, sing a song

Let the world sing along

Sing of love there could be

Sing for you and for me

Far beyond this world I've known,
Far beyond my time,

What kind of world am I going to find?
Will it be real or just all in my mind?

What will I do and what will I be?
Where am I going and what will I see?

There are people who think, and people who don't
And the people who don't are the ones who have most
There are people who lie, and others who cry
And the people who lie are the ones that get by
In the corporate rush to devour the new
We'll be losing our friends who will number but few
Position yourself on another mans cruise
One to share, the other to choose
PrincessKate
I love this song but it's very sad. In a pathetic sort of way

EDIT

At Seventeen

I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired.
The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth.
And those of us with ravaged faces
Lacking in the social graces
Desperately remained at home
Inventing lovers on the phone
Who called to say come dance with me
and murmured vague obscenities
It isn't all it seems
At seventeen.
A brown eyed girl in hand me downs
Whose name I never could pronounce
said, Pity please the ones who serve
They only get what they deserve.
The rich relationed hometown queen
she marries into what she needs
A guarantee of company
And haven for the elderly.
Remember those who win the game
Lose the love they sought to gain
Indebentures of quality
And dubious integrity.
Their small town eyes will gape at you
in dull surprise when payment due
Exceeds accounts received
At seventeen.
To those of us who know the pain
Of valentines that never came,
And those whose names were never called
When choosing sides for basketball.
It was long ago and far away
The world was younger than today
And dreams were all they gave for free
To ugly duckling girls like me.
We all play the game and when we dare
To cheat ourselves at solitaire
Inventing lovers on the phone
Repenting other lives unknown
That call and say, come dance with me
and murmur vague obscenities
At ugly girls like me
At seventeen.

Picky l'il begger ain't ya? Satisfied now?

Here's another SFA one - can you guess which album I'm listening to?

Mountain People

They don't care about
You and me
Obviously
No, not us
We're the mountain people

So far away from those
Tree lined streets
Look so neat
Not for us
No, fat chance
We're the mountain people

They seek us in the valley
They seek us on the plain
They own the milk and runny honey
And they're not quite the same

And we
Live together under
Fantasy
Oak trees
In the dark
We make sparks
So unique
We're the mountain people

Curiosity comes to
Plead with me
Vanity
Strangles me
Pulls me
Shakes me down
We're the mountain people

They seek us in the valley
They seek us on the plain
They own the milk and runny honey
And they're not quite the same

Because
They don't care about
You and me
Obviously
Hand-me-down
Culture
Waiting for the vulture
Yes-yes-yes
We're the mountain people
Hibernation comes so early
This year
Dig the peat
Pile it high
Let it dry
One last chance at ignorance
No fat chance
We're the mountain people

One short blast was
Followed by
Two longer ones
Short blast
Long blast
Coming for the outcast
Put me in a deep freeze
And I'll sneeze
We're the mountain people

From a distance
I can see them
Pacing
Upstream
Slowly
Ruthlessly
Onwards
Steady
Nets and cages
Open
Ready
Long term memory
Soothes me
Worry
Take me
Break me
Any way you fancy

Deep freeze put me in it and I'll sneeze, a
Deep freeze put me in it and I'll sneeze, a
Deep freeze put me in it and I'll sneeze, a
Deep freeze put me in it

“Hey” by Pixies

hey
been trying to meet you
hey
must be a devil between us
or whores in my head
whores at my door
whores in my bed
but hey
where
have you
been
if you go i will surely die
we're chained
chained

uh
said the man to the lady
uh
said the lady to the man she adored
and the whores like a choir
go uh all night
and mary ain't you tired of this
uh
is
the
sound
that the mother makes when the baby breaks
we're chained

I wish I was litening to Grey Will Fade. This is because i wish to put myself into a coma. A depressed, bored, nightmarish coma. With a fake Tanya Donnelly accent.

I know she goes out with directorblokey, but that has no bearings on her musical talent. Or her incredible lack of it.

She is really rather poor, musically. But then she was in Ash. Shit attracts shit. It doesn't, but it sounds good.

Summary: both Ash and Charlotte Hatherly are crap.
