Oh, come on - what could be more entertaining and amusing than hearing Bob say "Fucking fucking fuckety fuck" for eight weeks?

You knew I was going to say that, didn't you? It had to be done.

Oh i dunno.. it had its charms, this fourth series - i had a hazy feeling that it was building past the horrible feeling of let down that we all got at the begninning of the series and might well have got into its stride come the 5th series

i guess we shalln't (sorry stella, i know that's not right but I DID IT ANYWAY!! Mwah ha ha ha ha) ever know...

well I hope the guys who play ewan and ben are in something else soon as they were too lovely not to be on TV, even if their acting skills weren't that special.

But I'm not surprised it's being axed - I couldn't stop myself nodding off during the last three episodes.

I felt that too. that this series was a teachers crossroads, if you will, what with the loss of kurt and brian characters and the introduction of several new faces, and the next series would have been better and picked up its feet.

Ultimately, this series was not that bad at all, its still one of the best programmes on telly and theres no justice in it being axed.

Don't get me wrong, I like swearing. It's big, hard, cool and clever and imaginative swearing can only increase one's vocabulary. But when it replaces plot, dialogue, character development and genuine humour, I get a little bit tired of it.

I saw an advert for the Series 4 DVD in metro yesterday describing Series 4 as "a fitting close to an anarchic comedy drama" (or similar). Is Series 4 the end then?
And couldn't they have done that a series earlier?

Yes to both your questions. The series died with Kurt and Brian and no amount of sexy new actors that couldn't act could help revive it

I know! It sounds like I'm clutching at straws, but Kurt and Brian were the life blood of that show. When I saw that they had been killed off in the opening minutes I was a little dismayed. I know it's only a TV show but if you're going to enjoy a show you have to invest something in the characters emotionally, otherwise it's like watching a series of listless events played out by people you aren't arsed about. When you make us care about those characters and then kill them off with no explanation of how or why, and worst of all, do it off screen and treat it like a minor event you cheat the viewer out of the time they have devoted to the show. It made me think "why care about any of the new characters when they could just vanish at any point with little or no explanation" and I quickly lost interest in the show and stopped watching a few weeks later.
It was one thing when Susan (my personal favourite), Jenny and JP mysteriously went, but Kurt and Brian??? That was badly miscalculated.
