Here's a bit of an exclusive!
I went to go and see The Blockheads (the late Ian Dury's band) last night, and one of them was saying how they'd just recorded a song for a film called Confetti. Sound familiar? The song is called One Love, and it's very nice indeed.
I also stood next to Phil Jupitus for most of the gig, and he even got on stage at the end to sing for a bit. Great gig.

Just read an interview with Martin Freeman on ITV Teletext page 136 and it mentions this little tiny snippet...
Freemen will also co-star with Alison Steadman and Jessica Stevenson in Confetti, a romantic comedy.I looked it up and and Jessica is playing 'Sam' while Mark plays the 'Registrar'. Other familar faces in it are Peep Show and The Smoking Room's Robert Webb (

), Julia Davis and Jimmy Carr (!!!). This must be his acting debut. Anyway, full cast list is here...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427089/fullcreditsDoesn't say if it's a film or for TV.

Well... It is executive produced by BBC Films, so I'm thinking a theatrical release.
I like the idea that it's all improv!

'Confetti' to rain down at Searchlight
By Anne Thompson
Fox Searchlight Pictures did not leave Cannes empty-handed: The distributor has acquired worldwide rights to the unfinished BBC Films/Wasted Talent production "Confetti" after screening 20 minutes of footage at the Cannes market, which concluded last week.
Fox Searchlight president Peter Rice said the footage "was funny and bright and accessible, with a great comedy cast."
"Confetti" is a mockumentary from writer-director Debbie Isitt. It features an ensemble of British comedy stars, including Martin Freeman ("The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"), Jessica Stevenson ("Shaun of the Dead"), Stephen Mangan ("Green Wing"), Felicity Montagu ("I'm Alan Partridge"), Mike Leigh veteran Alison Steadman ("Topsy-Turvy") and film rookie Jimmy Carr.
"Confetti" plunges three couples into a fierce bridal magazine contest to win an all-expenses-paid wedding. Although the cast developed their characters during weeks of workshops, once on the set Isitt threw the ensemble into unexpected situations, according to BBC Films head David Thompson. "It's something in the tradition of 'Spinal Tap,' " he said. "It's a fully fledged film comedy with elements of improvisation. They didn't know who would win. It's a rather funny and emotional roller-coaster ride."
Thompson said that though there was considerable interest in the film from other parties, the BBC opted for Searchlight in expectations that it could deliver a global breakout hit on the order of "The Full Monty" or "Bend It Like Beckham."
"We want to work with them on the marketing from early on," he said. "It was very much in our interest for the movie to travel worldwide, to whatever countries weddings happen in. Every now and again, a British comedy breaks through, and we're hoping this is one of them."
"Confetti" was produced by Wasted Talent chairman Ian Flooks and Ian Benson ("The Weekend"). The film was co-financed by BBC Films, Wasted Talent and Screen West Midlands.
The deal was negotiated by Searchlight executive vp Joseph De Marco and senior vp acquisitions Tony Safford with BBC Films' Isabel Begg, head of business and legal affairs, and Jane Wright, head of rights and commercial affairs. Searchlight executive vp production Claudia Lewis will supervise the film.
The festival strategy and release dates for "Confetti" are pending.

Does it annoy any one else that Jess gets (shaun of the dead) by her name...?!
Whatever happened to Jessica Stevenson (Spaced) or even Jessica Stevenson (According to Bex)
I'm in a ranty mood today. Ah yes. Also...Jimmy Carr?!! He looks like Johnny Vaughn after he's been hit in the face with a rugby ball. I also find him to be the least funny person on this side of the galaxy and possibly the most annoying.
I'm excited about this film though. Good luck Jess!
Rant over and out. *bows*

Studio snaps up wedding Britcom
A low-budget British comedy starring Martin Freeman and Jessica Stevenson has been snapped up by a Hollywood studio, before it’s even been finished.
Fox Searchlight has bought the worldwide rights to distribute Confetti, in the hope that it’s found the next British comedy success to follow the success of Four Weddings And A Funeral.
Confetti charts the journey of three couples battling it out to win a magazine competition for the most original wedding of the year.
It also stars Julia Davis, Alison Steadman, Alan Partrige’s Felicity Montagu and Jimmy Carr – making his big-screen debut.
The film, directed by Debbie Isitt, was improvised by the actors around a framework of scenes – and is currently in post-production.
Fox Searchlight president Peter Rice told Hollywood trade journal Variety: “From minute one, we were immediately enamored with Confetti's unique concept and witty execution.”
David Thompson, head of BBC Films which is partly financing the film, called it "the first fruit of our new focus on comedy films."

I think everyone hates Jimmy Carr.
He is wooden. His act doesn't flow. It's all just unrelated one liners.
And other comedians will always tell you that he is notorious for stealing material from lesser known comics, then using it on TV and spoiling it for them.

Hello everyone! Long time no forum! Hope everyone is well...
As always I come here to bring new news of various Spaced actors in other stuff. And although I don't work for ITV anymore, I DO work for a company who design promotional merchandice for films soooo I saw a preview for a Fox Searchlight film out next year called Confetti. Jess plays the future wife of fellow Brit com god Martin Freeman. It's a mockumentory about weddings, and basically the jist is:
Jimmy Carr owns a wedding mag and runs a competition involving 3 couples who will compete to host the best wedding. One of the other couples are Robert Webb (Peep Show) and Olivia Colman (also Peep Show/Look around you) who appear throughout the film stark bollock nekkid. Julia Davis, Felicity Montagu amongst others also appear. The 20 mins of it I saw looked fun! Look out for it!

So the new trailer is up in the
news section for those of us who didn't realise there had already been one. Featuring two people I honestly never expected to see in the all together (probably not considered work safe). Certain cast members are setting off alarm bells but Jess and Freeman seem to know what they're doing.

Jess was on Jonathan Ross on Radio 2 this morning talking a little about it (granted, not much we didn't already now, but its hard to say anything in a Jonathan Ross interview). She did mention how Simon keeps sending her texts that they should write together again, and she is really keen to do so...but what remains to be seen.

Yes apparently the whole move is improvised - no script at all!
It sounds like it should be a lot of fun although I don't think we can expect it to be the greatest film of all time... nevertheless with so many great comedy names in it, it will be sure to do well.
For those who didn't click through to read the director's diary in full you may be interested to know that
the real-life sun club Spielplatz was used as the location for the naturist camp "Summerland" in the movie (Spielplatz has been used as the location for many films in the past).

Its the one when she's got a leg up and Freeman is holding it. There is cleavage, and yes, it is appealing.
