OK, Well I dont know what to say about last nights episode. one of the FINEST hours of TV ever. Heart Breaking, Gut Wrenching. God Damn.

All right. Well, now that I've caught up, I'm not sure I'd go that far in describing it, but it sure was a fine hour! I did expect Lee to come to the rescue but I did not expect the Pegasus to be sacrificed in such a manner.

It's a shame that Casey apparently was not Starbuck's, and I can't begin to imagine how awful Colonel Tigh must feel, hearing Adama's named cheered, while no one applauds the sacrifices he made to bring everyone home.

What's going to happen with Hera, though? What will Xena do with her, and with Baltar? And why couldn't Gaita pull the trigger?

Sorry for the big spoiler tag but here goes...No Idea on Hera, But Starbuck Definatly has some Post Tramatic Stress Disorder going on Because of Kasey and Leoben. But I really dont think that Jammer really deserved a ride out of the airlock. Adama and Tigh are really heading for a blow-out. Some serious fallout is going to come of New Caprica and we are only scratching the surface.
Omniscia
I must admit, I was a bit faked out this week, when Baltar appeared naked in the first shot. I assumed, only momentarily, that he was emerging from one of the Cylon regeneration tanks.

Good to see things settling a bit, though. I was disappointed not to see Mrs. Apollo, however.

Yeah she needs to stop being Mrs. Apollo and Start being Mrs MDK. tongue.gif ... After my divorce of course tongue.gif
NiteFall
Has anyone else been watching this? Or am I on my own wondering what exactly is so secret about the 5 unseen Cylon models, whether or not Tigh will reclaim his place on the command deck and possibly most importantly will Apollo manage to talk Starbuck and Dualla into 3-way sex action like Baltar managed with 6 and Xena? laugh.gif
Omniscia
Well, sir, if you really, truly must know, Tigh is back on the command deck.

I, too, wonder what's so special about those five Cylons, and whether Ellen Tigh is among them. I'm still not convinced that she's actually dead, and not one of them.

As for the mid-season finale, it seems clear Adama is going to nuke the planet. What are the chances, do you suppose, that the Temple is hardened, and/or a portal to another realm, and, thus, safe from nukes?

I can't wait for January 21. Maybe by that time we'll have UniversalHD, and I can watch it in style...
NiteFall
I'm not totally convinced that Adama will nuke the planet, I am curious as to what Xena's between death / rebirth experience stuff is all about, I also reckon that the Chief will figure out the temple somehow, probably by remembering something from his (apparently religious) background.
Omniscia
Well, Tyrol keeps staring at that conspicuously eye-like glyph on the central column, and at one point in the episode, sunlight can be seen drifting toward it. I surmise there's at least a possibility that, when the sunlight centres on the eye, it will reveal the path, a la Raiders of the Lost Ark.
NiteFall
Also, the fact that the temple seems to have fully working electric lighting seems a bit suspect. I'd bet my hat that something strange is going to happen, either to the nukes or to the Cylons, which is why Gaius had to go to the planet.

Also I'm intrigued as to what repercussions Boomer telling Athena that her baby was alive and Adama having to 'fess up after finding out from Roslin will have.
Ringcoirewen
I'm trying really, really hard to resist the urge to read the spoilers.

It's not going very well.
NiteFall
Oh, in that case I won't mention all the really insanely cool stuff we haven't mentioned yet here, I'm not going to say what, just leaving a big black block to tantalise you and wear down your self-control.
Ringcoirewen
AGH!

I fart in your general direction.
gulfcoast_highwayman
Back next week!

Inside, I'm dancing.
Serafina_Pekkala
As some of you may have gathered, i've started watching BSG lately. I am impressed and am not reading any spoilers as a result although i've inadvertantly read one or two online. Boo-yah!

Although it doesn't have the humour of Firefly or Joss (from what i've seen), i love the grittiness and the tension and astoundingly handsome cast too.

Great stuff ... although not seeing the pilot is a tad confusing for me. I am picking up some stuff as i go along.

Sky has shown the pilot this past week! Try to pick it up on line, you can get it really cheap.

I am lending a copy - i really do need to see it.

Omniscia
What do you mean, it's back next week? It's not back here until the 21st!

Don't expect much in the way of humour, Serafina. There are moments of levity, to be sure, but it's a far more grim show than Firefly ever was.

Do expect, though, tension, drama, action, sacrifice, the occasional bit of moral ambiguity, and plenty of hot robot sex.
NiteFall
Season 3 starts on Sky here next tuesday. Although thanks to the power of the interwebs I too am waiting for the 21st to find out whether Starbuck, Adama, the Chief and everyone else on the surface gets nuked to a crispy golden brown.
Omniscia
I see... S3 hasn't started there, yet? Hmm.

The first few episodes are the best ones, so far.
NiteFall
I don't know. The standard has been consistently high all through this season. No real low points so far in my opinion, even the standard budget saving episode was pretty good.
Ringcoirewen
Gah, more spoilers. My will is weak. But I'm resisting, if it kills me. tongue.gif

Wow. That was a pretty amazing season opener. I thought about half of the heavy-handed Iraq parallels were thought-provoking, and the other half really stupid and annoying, but taken as a stand-alone drama the double-episode was stunningly good. I will be on tenterhooks until next week.

Starbuck is looking HOT; Apollo is FAT.
ayeyerma
I hope Starbuck doesn't go mental. I would've killed that little bitch.

Cylons=America?

Cally escaped! YAY! To pretty to die!
gulfcoast_highwayman
Wow. Just wow.

Tighe gets better and better each week. His performance last night was AWESOME.
NiteFall
Be thankful. Originally they were going to make the new Galactica as a continuation of the original series with the original cast, sets, costumes and designs. Then they saw the production photos and changed their minds...

gulfcoast_highwayman
I bet there was some fight over who got to wear the Cylon costume.

At least they got to hide their shame.
Omniscia
That is the saddest Toaster the world has ever known.

Which came first, being overweight or fandom?
Serafina_Pekkala
I think scifandom will never get to the bottom of it. I mean look at the once slender hawtster Captain Apollo 1978 - he now looks like Tim Allen as shifty old Zarek.

I'm getting thru Season 2 - oooo it's getting a bit good, isn't it!

No spoilers though even though i learned one or two inadvertantly. Like marriages and shootings and argh - the usual!

Don't forget, tonight at 10:00 PM EST (GMT -5), BSG resumes!

Hopefully, the Patriots/Colts game will be over by then...

On another note, according to the Sci-Fi Channel website, Tricia Helfer is the Playboy centrefold this month. I don't tend to buy porn, ever, but that might interest some of you.

I'm not much for blondes, anyway.
Omniscia
Damn it, Patriots lost, and I missed the first third of the show because the game took so long to finish.

I'll have to wait up for the midnight repeat.

I think Trish looks better as the Six from the Pegasus, with dark blonder hair and glasses. The plotline about her and Sharon being abused really upset me BTW. It was just really brutal but i'm glad they were brave about it. Blimey - they don't shy away from horrible realities in BSG - like Bill Duke the child trafficker. Never get that on Enterprise.

Blondes are great.

Sefi x
Omniscia
Yeah, but there are too many in my family already.

I'm a little skeptical of next week's episode. Judging from the preview, it looks like the would-be Mrs. Apollo and the current Mrs. Apollo are going to have words regarding their little lurve triangle.

I'd really hoped they'd focus more on what Xena saw before she was forced into early retirement.
gulfcoast_highwayman
You know, I go to great lengths to avoid being spoiled about Battlestar, so why am I so stupid as to look at a thread called 'TV's Saddest Moments' on TWOP?

Saw three words. Now am spoiled.

Bastards.
NiteFall
Okay then so Adama sisn't nuke the planet no major surprise there. But what about Xena apologising to one of the final 5? someone here has posted a screencap of them, and it looks to me like the one on the left center looks like Billy. Also someone has pointed out how much the central one looks like Cally.
Serafina_Pekkala
Some of you BSG-ers may not be aware that Billy (yes - sweet gangly Billy) is also a funny fellow with his own sketch group called Nobody's Watching, shown on Teh Tubes.

Anyone one know when Ep 12 is transmitted! I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.
NiteFall
It was aired on Sunday. It's available by the normal channels right now. Go man! Go!

That looks nothing like what I saw. Everything was way too washed out to make out any detail. It's got to be a hoax.

Besides, everyone knows that Roslyn's the Cylon. How else do you explain those visions of hers?
NiteFall
I dunno. What if the whole Adama is a Cylon from waaaay back wasn't a hoax? Also, who wrote her that message? I reckon Billy was a Cylon.
gulfcoast_highwayman
That was fucking awesome!

The amazing acting in this show really is the cherry on the cake.

The performances of Tigh, his wife, Adama and Starbuck tongith were astounding, especially Tigh. His scenes tonight made me cry twice in the same episode.
NiteFall
Season 3 gag reel.

No real spoilers as far as I can tell.

Absolutely - that was a fantastic episode. Totally agree about the performances, and would add to the list Starbuck after the revelation at the end of the episode.
maian
I've only just started watching the series, having watched the mini-series and much of season one recently, so am quite behind everyone and probably can't add anything to what has been said, but I feel I need to just say that this show is many different kinds of awesome. I look forward to looking in this thread again once I am caught up.
Omniscia
I don't know how far back you still may be, but I'm glad it's back! Two weeks is too long between episodes!

*puts on blinders to avoid spoilers*

YAY! SciFi has greenlit BSG S4.

However, they have only said yes to the front 13 so far.
maian
I've gone through Season One and have just started Season Two, so can't really get involved in any discussions here just yet.

However, I feel I need to say that although I think this is one of the best shows on television at the moment by some distance, the wig and hair dye for the Young Adama and Young Tigh flashback sequences from the start of Season Two may be the funniest thing I have ever seen.
NiteFall
Just watched ep. 14 of series 3, once again a storyline that could have been incredibly naff and crap on just about any other show is lifted by the brilliance of the acting, script and characterisations.
gulfcoast_highwayman
I enjoyed this week's kinky stuff about being tortured by Lucy Lawless whilst being given pleasure by Tricia Helfer.

Fire & Ice, fire and ice.

The other plot about possibly wiping out the entire Cylon race was meh! because you knew it wouldn't happen.

It also suffered from not having the two super-actors, Tigh and Starbuck in this weeks.
