The one with all the boxing was shown in the UK last night.

I feel like Lee Adama;

I LOVE KARA THRACE!

She's so bad ass, yet vulnerable.

I've only just started watching the series, having watched the mini-series and much of season one recently, so am quite behind everyone and probably can't add anything to what has been said
*

I've only seen the mini-series. Not having Sky sucks, because it does look good, but there you go. I never was one to run with the cool kids. I'll have to make do with the Old School Galactica.
Serafina_Pekkala
Massive spoiler above methinks. I'm up to Rapture. Watch them online at the Daily Motion, folks. It is a wondrous thing.

I forgot Fred Astaire was in it. And how fraggin' handsome Richard Hatch was back in the day and now he is .. isn't. Glad they didn't make the new cast wear so much velour though. Brown, purple, navy. Many kinds of jumpsuit - all look like carseat covers. Good times.

Awww - my pleasure, sir. Sky is poo anyway. I even watch Heroes at daily motion, which is splendid if you don't mind French subtitles. It is a bit more up-to-date than this:

Still good for the earlier episodes though.

OK, so I'm still way behind the rest of you, but I just watched "Pegasus" the other night.

Is there a single frame or line of dialogue in that episode that isn't perfect?
Drifter
Bravo is showing classic BSG in the mornings and repeated later on

Picked up the season 2 set (6 discs) for £14.99 (sealed & new) although I think they were but stingy with the extras, Ive seen loads of the outtakes on YouTube so why not on the dvds?

I watched that yesterday along with Resurrection Ship 1 and 2. I don't think I've ever seen a more perfect two hours of television in my life. It's just a flawless story arc in every conceivable way. The destruction of the Resurrection Ship itself really took my breath away. Amazing.

It's only a spoiler if you haven't seen those episodes, Nic, but I thought it was best to be safe than sorry.
maian
Damn, missed the edit...

Anyway, just watched ''Black Market''. I love Battlestar, I love film noir, so this was a near perfect episode for me. However, I was distracted in the last third by this:

Since when has Sostie been an extra on Battlestar?

Thanks, man. biggrin.gif

It's funny, I was looking forward to getting the first disc of 2.5 even though Shut Up and Sing was first on my Netflix queue; there was a short wait for that, but it ended up shipping first anyway. I ended up loving it but at first, i was a bit disappointed it wasn't BSG. Heh.
maian
Is Shut Up And Sing the film about The Dixie Chicks? That's coming out over here in a few weeks and it sounds interesting. Apart from not being BSG, is it any good?

Yup, it's really fantastic. Posted a quick take in Last Film.

I don't know if anyone else is following along with the US broadcast schedule, but, whoa! ohmy.gif

Does this mean that Starbuck is a Cylon, or perhaps even a demigod of some sort?

I've been a bit late in getting in to the new BSG. Only just finished watchint he pilot and the first series which I loved to bits. I've got the second series to get through now but it's all good so far.

No It means that Katee Sackhoff has not been happy with the way Starbuck has been handled and requested to be killed off, She may be brought back as a cylon later if fan outcry is bad enough
Omniscia
Is that so? Well, as I'm sure fan outcry will be strident, it won't be long until she pulls a Spock and comes back, probably toward the end of the fourth season. In the event that that happens, my money is on her returning as one of the Lords of Kobol, or something, rather than a Cylon.
Sostie
Up to date on all episodes now and have to say, whilst the last episode was a bit of a surprise it was very "meh" indeed.

Well, considering my Greek heritage, it's quite apt that I should resemble a member of the cast named after a Greek god....wait a minute....you bastard!
gulfcoast_highwayman
Well, thanks to Sky and Virgin having their pissing contest I'm having to download.

Ep 10 is in the bag, 11 is on the way. What with Heroes and this, my PC is going to be on virtually all day this week.

I read in the Heroes thread that a season break (what another one??) is on the way, so I can concentrate on Battlestar. Thank fuck.
Omniscia
Another week, another new character, but this time they're quite compelling...

I speak, of course, of Mark Sheppard as Romo Lampkin, who is the latest defence attorney to Gaius Baltar. You may remember him from such roles as Ivan Erwich, one of the baddies in Day Five of 24 or as Badger in Firefly.

Who Romo Lampkin really is and what his ulterior motives are will hopefully be revealed by the end of the season. Either way, it's going to be fun to have this guy around.
Omniscia
I can't wait until next week! Finally, the cliffhanger ending we've all been waiting for.

It's tremendous.
Serafina_Pekkala
Mark Sheppard looks exactly like my bro'. He is also called 'Lambkin' (long story). I am officially spooked.

Everyone who is now in my head, please leave.

Hey, checked through to see if anyone has posted this already but couldn't see it.

Sounds like most people are up-to-date but for those who aren't there's going be a catch up weekend on Sky1 over easter.

The weekend has got five BSG season 3 episodes, 10-14.

Anyone going to have a 5 hr sofa session with this?
Omniscia
Just got this in the ol' electronic mailbox from Sci-Fi:

...who are the final five cylons? Find out Sunday in the shocking season finale!

Judging from the preview they ran at the end of last nights episode, one of them sounds like Sam.

Judging by the penultimate episode I think they may have signposted at least 3 of them!

gulfcoast_highwayman
No, I'm currently 'obtaining' episode 13.

BloodySkybloodyVirginbloodyMurdochBloodyBransonbloodyBASTARDS!

aaaaaaaaaaaaand.............breathe............
Omniscia
Spoilerific, so do not read if you're not caught up with the end of Season 3...

Seriously, though, what the frak was that all about?

That Baltar would be acquitted didn't surprise me in the least, but I will be sorry to see Romo Lampkin go.

As for the Final Five Cylons, what the hell? They were awakened to their true nature by Bob Dylan? I don't get it. As soon as Col. Tigh remarked, "There must be some kind of way out of here," I jokingly replied "said the Joker to the Thief," never expecting they'd actually take it that far. It made a strange situation all the more surreal and disturbing.

Hooray for recognising Anders' voice at the end of last weeks preview, though! And Kara's alive, just like we figured, and ready to lead Lee and (presumably) the rest of the fleet to Earth...

We never did learn who the fifth Cylon is, though, did we? Unless it's Starbuck...

Finally, no more BSG until 2008!? ohmy.gif

I don't know if I can take it!

Waiting until 2008 might be the least of your worries, did you hear Bamber talking about season 4... he seems pretty convinced it will be the last!

I'm stuck on 13 and getting no higher - i miss the show.

That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself. As long as they have everything planned out enough so they can reach a tidy resolution by the conclusion of season four, I'll be happy. I'd much rather the show end on its own terms, while it's still worth watching, rather than drag it out for several extraneous seasons padded by additional characters and needless changes to existing characters and situations. Yes, The X-Files (and The Simpsons), I'm looking at you.

On a related note, I'm happy to read that the forthcoming straight-to-video Battlestar film will explore the aftermath of the Cylon attack on the colonies from the perspective of the Battlestar Pegasus. You can't have enough of Michelle Forbes!

Oh, yes, finally, if Tyrol really is a Cylon, then that makes two hybrid babies in the fleet.

You are definitely right, there is in tv generally, a shortage of shows that commit to conclusions.

The example of the X-Files is a perfect case where the show just dragged on... it basically died a long... drawn out... painful death. Which was a shame because it was brilliant!

Ha! Well expect that to continue. My friend who is a big fan saw the Season 3 finale and sent me a text along the lines of "OH MY FRAGGING GOD!!!!". This is maybe a good thing.

I heard a BIG S.3 spoiler/rumour (okay i asked to be told) about who on Galatica is one of the final 5 cylons. I was told by my mate who knows someone who works on the show (man, i should be leaving this under a dog bowl) that he saw one of the cast on a particular set. And i'll be interested to see if this means *ahem* is teh Cylon.

Sefi x
Sostie
Saw the season finale the other night and my overall opinion was "meh"

The two main things I was looking forward to The Trial and the revelation of the final five cylons were both a bit of a let down.

Although i was happy with the outcome, the trial just wasn't as compelling as it could have been.

The five cylons? Well of the 4 revealed you pretty much knew the week before who they were. And gave a pretty good idea who the 5th is.

And as for the appearance of Starbuck at the end, not exactly a shock

A pretty weak finale.
Sostie
One little extra thing that didn't occur to me until after the episode (and which at the time I thought was a bit stupid) - the inclusion of an earth song, All Along The Watchtower, as the one haunting the 4 "cylons". Could this perhaps mean that the Cylons have already vivited Earth?
thirtyhelens
I forgot to add that the scene from "Lay Down Your Burdens Pt. 1" with Roslin having the giggle fit before her first debate with Baltar, and Adama being absolutely no help whatsoever, is my favorite scene in any series that I've seen in quite some time.
logger
Frag me! I just watched the baby killing, robo humping pilot and I wish I'd watched it when it came on tv. It wasn't what I was expecting at all, I was thinking something along the lines of Babylon 5. If the series are as good as this then this should be better than Heroes. Thank you internutters for showing me semi legal ways to watch old tv series, I know what I'm going to be doing for the next few weeks.
gulfcoast_highwayman
I've just watched ep 16 of series 3, so I've spoilered if you're not there yet.

Frak me, Baltur's a Yorkshireman!

What a great performance from him. The scene with him and the Chief was great, as was Adama's.

The first two definitely are as good as the pilot, ratcheting up the tension, exploring the characters and dealing with the problems humanity has to face in order to survive. All the while having plenty of 'ohh pretty' and 'bang bang' stuff.

I only say the first two series because I've not quite watched the third yet.
logger
I'm a grown up, I shouldn't get so chuffed by space battles now.

Episode 17 of series 3 done now, again spoilered.

Kara! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I've been drying highwaytears since I watched it. Why, why???

Saddest thing I've watched in ages.

logger
Just done the first series. As I have pointed out before I have no life.
I still prefer the classic cylons though.

Mmmm, shiny.
gulfcoast_highwayman
Well, that's series 3 done. I wonder where they'll go now.

The 4 cylons revealed were interesting, but I'm pissed that the Chief is one of them. Still we've got our Kara back, we've got our Kara back.......

Swings and roundabouts really.
logger
I've just watched series 3 episode 5 and still can't work out if Apollo is wearing prsothetic fat make up. Does he lose the weight?
gulfcoast_highwayman
It's been shown on Sky One in the UK so I don;t think you need to spoiler that new, Logs.

And, for what it's worth, it was make up.
Jessopjessopjessop
The end of Series 2 was pants. Skipping forward a year in time is very jarring, and smacked of hasty plotting.

Battlestar is not as good as everyone makes out. While an earnest, humour-free tone may create a 'serious' science fiction programme, it does not necessarily make a good one.

I find the characters very difficult to care about, and the 'worthy' subjects quite exhausting.

Better than the end of Series 3.
tigerlily
Good God yes.

I'm quite disappointed in how Galactica is turning out. The first series promised so much and it's been diminishing returns since then. I barely paid attention to quite a few episodes in S3 as I found it all to be getting to convoluted or just plain ridiculous.

I wonder if they'd kept to fewer episodes if they would have retained the quality?
