Nope, they haven't given a date for Series 3 yet. Which is crazy annoying.

Gah! I've only got two discs left before I'm done, then. Hurry up Ron Moore!

SciFi are still rebroadcasting S3 episodes, too, which blows as I'm tempted to sit down and watch but I never know where they are. mad.gif

I have to admit, I was nervous about her character at first; I didn't want her to wind up being a cookie-cutter Seven-of-Nine type designed to sell posters.  She really is wonderful, though

Aye she is is awesome. And so was Michelle Forbes. There are some great character actors in BSG.

I've got a similar problem here since Sky have started showing the entire series but I can't ever remember when it's on and I'm worried that they may have already reached season 3. I don't mind sitting down and watching the episodes on dailymotion, but it's just not the same.

Is season 3 available on DVD yet? I can't seem to find it on Blockbuster.

Yeah, I love Michelle Forbes.

It's hard for me to go to the nice local video store on certain days, because one of the clerks reminds me very much of her, and it intimidates the hell out of me. Well, it's not hard for me to go there; actually, it's quite nice.

Just about finished season one now.

And yes, as much as I've resisted this show, I'm hooked now. I watched about 4 hours straight on Saturday afternoon, so that says something.
widowspider
Finished series 2.5.

Man, I really need series 3 to come out soon. I'm so hooked.

Space it out a bit, though, so you don't have as long to wait for season four, or the two-hour Pegasus movie.

Finally made it all the way through the boxing episode, it must have been the fourth or fifth attempt. I bet I could ream Starbuck in the ring.

Lovely innuendo aside logger, I'd have to disagree. She'd fuck you up big style.
Blind I/O
After seeing him in Die Hard, I was further struck by her similarity to Timothy Olyphant. Clenched teeth acting is the way forwards.

More has happened in the last two episodes than in half the series. Is it any wonder that I nearly gave up on the show when we have entire episodes were the only thing that happens is someone wonders round a diseased base star or people box and reminisce about doing the nasty. Success brought a desire for more episodes without the material to fill them. Thank god it's got good again.
Raven
New Battlestar Webisodes! (for those that don't like Farscape and won't be reading that thread!).
Omniscia
Ooo, thanks for pointing that out. I'd not have noticed otherwise.

News from Dragon*Con!

QUOTE
There are 20 episodes in the final season and the plan now from Sci-Fi is to show 10 of them in Feb. of 2008 and then wait until Feb. of 2009 to show the final 10! Needless to say, the large crowd at the panel was not pleased considering the 18-month gap we are already enduring.

Frak.

QUOTE
The actors actually ripped sci-fi, with Bamber saying that the channel is not used to producing high quality material and now that it has a hit, it doesn't know what to do with it.

Hee!

More here, though it's mildly spoilery:

That is not good news, if they don't want to stump up for a fifth series or have decided it has had it's day, they should show the whole of the remainder in one hit.

I read another D*C update which says the cast basically indicated that SciFi is seeing this as an opportunity to get two more seasons for the price of one. Typical.

I can see why they did it money wise. The last few shows they spent the big bucks on (Painkiller Jane, Flash Gordon) tanked badly and they have to save money somewhere And Battlestar is one of their most costly shows. But to space it out like this is insane!

Well They give us quality shows like BSG, Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, Doctor Who, and Farscape, But then they give us poo like Flash Gordon (My god it sucks so bad that light cannot escape its suckatude) Eureka, Mansquito, Painkiller Jane, and First Wave. So I guess you could say that I have a love/hate relationship with the channel.

But of course this could mean that I just need to get a life and not worry about the state of current and past programming on Sci-Fi.

Just finished season 3 so...ok...but...All Along The Watchtower?

I'm still 5 episodes from the end and I still can't bring myself to watch them, it's just so dull.

The last few episodes of the season did need more Romo Lampkin.

Has anyone been watching the previews for Razor? It looks bloomin' good!

Pooshits:

Fans who have been waiting since March for new episodes of “Battlestar Galactica” are going to have to wait a little longer.

The Los Angeles Times now reports that “Galactica’s” fourth and final season, long expected to begin in January, won’t commence until April.

This would finally explain why the series’ 3rd season DVD set won’t be out till April!

Still up in the air is whether or not we’ll have to wait until 2009 to see the series’ final episodes.

The Times also reveals that series mastermind Ron Moore plans to make his directorial debut on one of “Galactica’s” last 10 episodes.
dandan
that's a bit pooh...

when does 'razor' air?
Raven
Not sure, but it is out on DVD in the UK on December 26th.
dandan
according to imdb, it airs on 27/11 and the r1 dvd is out on 04/12...
Raven
I got a copy of the second season soundtrack last week, and I can't say I'm very impressed with it.

Having bought the mini-series and season one soundtracks, and found them to have some very good music on them, I didn't think it would be a risk buying this disk, but it is completely different.

Out has gone all of the haunting Celtic melodies and in has come a load of moody soft rock acoustic guitar music - not good!

Word from the front, production on Battlestar Galactica has shut down because of the writers strike. Given that the show isn't due to air until August next year though, you have to wonder how much of a problem it really is at this point . . .

August!? Are you serious? That'll be 17 months between episodes!
Raven
Sorry, April - no idea why I typed August!
Omniscia
That's not that much better. Still over a year!

It may be fine for programmes of a more intermittent nature, but it's practically unheard of for big-name shows over here.
thirtyhelens
Galactica is right on that bubble, though.... a big fish in a small pond, given the fact that SciFi have always seemed to behave like they have a massive inferiority complex and can't compete with the major networks in quality even when the shows ARE this good.

I'm so irritated I couldn't skip out of work today to go up to Universal and check out the fan picket, BTW. It's one stop up on the train, I could be there in 15 minutes. Grrrrr.
Omniscia
But, given that it's NBC Universal, who also do House, The Office, and however many Law & Order iterations there are at the moment, not to mention all of NBC's late-night programming, isn't BSG essentially a network show, or at least equivalent thereto?
Jessopjessopjessop
I'm making a concerted effort to get through Season three this weekend. Exodus was particularly impressive for telly.

But I don't think BSG will ever grab me in the way other shows have. For a start the characters are just not very likeable, and it struck me recently that there are no 'good' bad guys! All the Cylons are irritating, smug or just plain twattish (please don't say 'that's the point') - whatever happened to the charismatic villain you root for as much as the good guys? Equally, all the good guys are either irritating, smug or just plain holier-than-thou. It's very well made, tightly plotted and intelligent...but it's hard to care.
Omniscia
I see where you're coming from, but I'm afraid I can't agree with you on this. Sure, there's plenty of sanctimony, but I do find that there are at least two "good" guys I can regularly agree with and, if necessary, care for. As for the Cylons... Lucy Lawless, rrrrrrowwwwwr!

I think the thing I found, come the end of season three, was that it was just so unrelentingly bleak. I watched the series through in just over a week and the lack of humour did turn it into a bit of a slog come the end.

The show is trying to be a serious drama, but I feel there are times when they take it a little too seriously for its own good.

By the way, the commentaries you can download from the official web site are worth listening to, if you are interested in knowing how and why some of the story choices were made.

a lot of the main characters are tits (starbuck and apollo, being the main culprits), but there's some real gems there as well; gaius and tigh, in particular, make it extremely watchable for me...

I find myself rooting for Adama most of the time, but mostly because of the growly, gruff performance. And Roslyn too - their team-ups are interesting because they make difficult choices that need to be made. But that's just a couple out of a rather large ensemble. Compare that to Heroes, which, for me anyway, features an entire cast of characters who are great to watch and who you care about.

But I never got the Xena thing, and she doesn't do anything for me now. All the others are weedy and/or dull.

I've thought that from the start too. Not even the banter between pilots features any humour, which surely it would in reality.

I'm disappointed in where Starbuck's stories have taken her. She was the one character I did like early on, but the writers seemed determined to make her either unpleasant or pathetic.

Tigh is interesting, even though he's a complete arse. But Gaius? There hasn't been a more irritating, hammy performance in SF since Neelix, and they had the good sense to dump him eventually.
Raven
This is a bit worrying: Will production resume on Galactica?
Omniscia
Razor airs this Saturday, right?
ipse dixit
I saw a preview DVD of that. It's ok, some decent action and stuff, but it doesn't really do anything to further the plot. It's a reasonably enjoyable but ultimately unnecessary addition.
